    Season 2 edges closer to making you care about these people instead of trying (and often failing) to make you laugh at their mindfully delivered jokes.

    Santa Clarita Diet has accomplished actors and great one-liners but its stakes are stuck at sea level. Even when it fleetingly considers the morality of murder, the series is prone to take the easiest path possible and then wrap it up in a gag about undesirable body parts. ... Santa Clarita Diet sets up joke after joke about pain, death, and dismemberment but it doesn’t let you feel any of it.

    I can totally see how many would dislike SCD, and in all honesty it does sometimes veer towards the idiotic. But man, I actually loved seasonI can totally see how many would dislike SCD, and in all honesty it does sometimes veer towards the idiotic. But man, I actually loved season 2. Binged it one weekend. Always loved Olyphant and its great to see him tackle zany comedy like this. I usually HATE Barrymore, but she really grows on you and her and Tim definitely have a great on-screen chemistry. Stand out though is the adorably sardonic Liv Hewson. Wow this girl is so good. Bright future indeed.

    The writing is mostly really good. Dialogue is crackling and witty, everyone seems to have good comedic timing and chemistry. The storylines sometimes veer towards the ridiculous and its usually a case of 'what can go wrong will go wrong' but i just enjoyed the ride and was left wanting more after 10 eps. Compared to all these TV shows trying to pass of as art and are mere presumptuous vehicles for the most boring clichés, this little show is pure fun and a delight because it does have its very witty moments.

    I was hoping for a lot more from this season because of the way they ended the first. Unfortunately, it seems like the writers kinda forgotI was hoping for a lot more from this season because of the way they ended the first. Unfortunately, it seems like the writers kinda forgot what they had planned and instead just copy-pasted the first season into the second season word document.

    The characters mesh a little better than they did the first season, they seem to actually know each other and genuinely care about each other, which is a testament to the actors stepping up their game, but unfortunately they just weren't given much to work with here.

    In the end, much like most of their other shows, they pulled a classic Netflix here. A good first season followed up by a middling second that leaves you wondering what happened.    … Full Review »
