Barely finished the first episode. What a snoozer. Nothing about the two leads interests me.

Two middle-aged characters run from their lives to try again - or to get disenchanted, we don't know yet:) for now it is fast and gripping, and the dynamics between characters comes from their personalities and insecurities. I like them, they irritate me and I cheer for them. Additional characters are sparse, but they add something to the plot.

In the very first scene we get that Ruby is frustrated with her husband, and her life, a little bit why even; and the action begins in the same scene! And it is fast from there. The only caveat is that actions are driven by emotions here, not punches, bullets or even bullet points. If it seems to be Your thing give it a try.

By the time you hit the fifth of its eight episodes you may find yourself yelling at the screen in amazed delight.

Mostly, "Run" is notable as a juicy vehicle for two topnotch performers, and to that extent, it's nice to see Wever (the "Nurse Jackie" alum who graduated to lead status in "Unbelievable") and Gleeson (a veteran of "Ex Machina" and the recent "Star Wars" trilogy) showcased in a different way. Yet at the risk of being totally honest, after watching five episodes, it's a show that appears fated to run out of gas before this train ever reaches its destination.

Mixing sexual farce and Hitchcockian suspense, it unfurls with such speed and vigour that you feel constantly wrong-footed. It’s jittery, sardonic – and quite brilliant.
