Riverdale is a brilliant, fun and addictive show since Gossip Girl. The show has that special thing that makes it so fun to watch. Besides that the show is really addictive (like Pretty Little Liars), it's brilliant plot and humour and most of all it's amazing actors will definitely keep this show alive for atleast five years.

The show gives us yet another high school mystery, but manages to bring something new to the table. There's more than enough to praise about this show, from its stunning photography to its well developed characters. But it's also benefits from being a series suitable for all ages. Two thumbs up!!

The improbable idea of taking the characters from innocent Archie comics and casting them into a Twin Peaks atmosphere has worked like a charm. If it bothers you that they're spoiling your childhood memories, I get that, but I like the idea.

Without spoiling any secrets, the setup is this: a young man thought drowned has instead washed up on the bank of a river in Riverdale with a bullet in his head. His twin sister who had claimed he'd drowned when they were canoeing together is now somewhat suspect. The fact that this kid was the boyfriend of Betty's older sister (of Betty and Veronica fame) connects the mystery to our familiar cast, Betty, Veronica, Archie, Jughead, and Josie and the poosiekats (yeah believe it or not they censor that word if spelled correctly). The show has less kooky style than Twin Peaks had, but on the other hand the story so far makes a heck of a lot more sense and the characters are far more believable and have more depth as true human beings than was ever true in Twin Peaks. If you like David Lynch, Twin Peaks, thrillers, mysteries, you should give this a shot. It's not just a gimmick by any means.

Fantastic cast with a gripping story. Full of twists and end of episode cliffhangers. Thoroughly recommend watching if your into who dun-it mysteries.

The Show has multiple story lines linking into the major story of the show alongside romantic escapades.

This is by far my favourite show of 2017, looking forward to Season 2.

It's a cool take on archie comics, making it more modern, it's not a wonder, but it's really enjoyable, with secrets and some high school teenage drama cliches that are kind of a guilty pleasure for me personally

Having grown up with the comics makes this show all the more engaging. That being said, the characters are believable and in spite of the over the top storyline, it is a show that never tries to be cool. It just is cool.

I predict that at it's absolute best, the season might peak to a 7.7; but if things start getting more and more CW-ish, it would get really bad (really fast) indeed. I hope enough character development and world building has happened by the time the comic book novelty wears off.

Either way, am pretty sure I will stay till atleast the end of the season.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Really enjoyed this show overall. There were some confusing plot points and spots of bad acting, but overall I enjoyed it. The chemistry between Archie, Jughead, Veronica, and Betty was really enjoyable. The "oh **** moment when we found out The Blossom's maple syrup company was a front for heroin trafficking was pretty awesome. It was totally unexpected. I remember thinking early one in season 1 there had to be something about drugs, but the show did such a good job of making it look like something else entirely, that by the time that was revealed to us it felt fresh and unexpected. I think Veronica's mom was one of the weaker characters who got a lot of screen time. I really didn't enjoy watching her throughout the first season. Excited for season 2. The CW has really come alive the last few years and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Expand

I love that it's adapted itself for a modern audience while maintaining a touch of the old. Overall, this series doesn’t boast the best written plot or dialogue that's ever hit television, but it's highly entertaining, all the more so if you were a fan of the original comics. What's so appealing about the show? It's got great cinematography, awesome original soundtrack, fast and interesting plot and characters I want to consume. It really feels like a comic book transfered onto the screen. It has it's own vibe of an alternate reality where everything is possible and you shouldn't question it's logic. It's also locked in it's own stylistic bubble - it's modern but retro at the same time. The creators of "Riverdale" take the characters and every week throw them into new strange situations. Kids on the show often act like adults, and adults act like kids (isn't that the case in real life? ;D) There are some main plots but every episode seems like a new adventure. Of course the show is silly and campy and defies logic and reason, but it's also very entertaining, funny, tense, beautiful, smart and full of emotions. "Riverdale" is dark and subversive, the characters take everything very seriously, but the show itself continuously winks at it's viewers e.g. it uses "ships" made up by the fans and it's full of references to the pop culture. The cast is amazing (both parents and kids). The acting is solid. It's simply a cool show. It isn't a serious awards contender, it doesn't try to be a serious drama (although it has some truly moving moments worth real appreciation and it touches some serious subjects). Expand

Some go for the more everyday style, where there is a group of teenagers that grow and mature over the seasons; and others go to the mystery side, where there is a group of teenagers who try to figure something out for themselves as they grow and mature over the seasons. Riverdale is the second case, but there is no growth and maturation. Not this season. There are characters that get a little change and others remain the same.
The character Archie Andrews is the most unlit in the group of protagonists. It doesn't make much difference. It has small dramas involving the family and a constant desire to know where it belongs. But these questions are not well worked out or deepened in the character, something that leaves him behind in the plot.
Betty Cooper is the character that has the most prominence and that makes the story go with everything you get into and discover. She didn't captivate me and I don't know why. The character Jughead is quite interesting. At the beginning of the season he was mysterious and had a somewhat radical worldview, but that is explained later by his father's appearance. However, he started to get quite annoyed with his view of himself. "A lone wolf" - this is boring and spoils the character with these cheesy lines. Cheryl Blossom is among the hate and I accept your personality. With others she is an **** and with her family she is the one who suffers. I don't think I had much information about her and what she thinks for me to like the character.
Veronica Lodge is the character that is among the protagonists, and is alternating between highlight and non-highlight. She has a very strong personality that resembles that of Cheryl Blossom, something that puts them as enemies here. However, some of his dialogues are worthy of a teenager who thinks she is doing everything right, but who doesn't know anything about what is really happening. What makes me like her is the fact that she is trying to change, and to recognize her place and her mistakes. This makes her a little mature around other young people.
The adult cast stands out - without much difficulty - from the youth group. Some have an interesting mystery, others have a very realistic difficulty and others have very significant dramas for the plot. Some very small and others with greater prominence. Fred Andrews is, ethically speaking, the most correct of them all. He tries to do his best in the care of his son Archie, while dealing with problems involving his work. Hermione Lodge is a mother who is trying to start her life in a very strange way after her husband was arrested. She is very neutral if we consider her personality.
Blossom parents are a despicable thing. They are totalitarians, oppressors, and they are certainly not a great example of parents. This is the result of Nathalie Boltt's good performances as Penelope Blossom and Barclay Hope as Clifford Blossom.
The character with whom I got most attached was Alice Cooper. At the beginning of the story it is very problematic and is poorly understood, but when the story progresses, we are able to understand its actions and personality. She's just a mother who would do anything for the sake of her daughters. The acts she does are not right in the eyes of teenagers, but understandable to the adult world.
Riverdale is another teen series involving mystery and that has a range of characters that have not yet shown what they came for.
