This is 1 of the best shows in years. It has everything mystery sci fi and dark comedy and some action.

This series somehow manages to be both funny and smart while still working with a base plot that can only be described as silly. I'm actually impressed.

My thoughts on Resident Alien and why you should move it up on your list of things to watch(No Spoilers)

The beginning felt a little like it may just be a sitcom. But as the story unfolds (within episode one), it becomes something more. Eventually, you find yourself caught up in a sci-fi/dramedy/mystery series. The plot thickens and starts to offer up a little bit of something for every viewer. The show has a very talented group of actors, each perfectly suited for their roles. The story and characters keep you connected, and it doesn't need lots of special effects to keep you hooked. You will see some beautiful landscapes accompanied by a great soundtrack. By the end of this first season, I wanted to see and know more. The story is not complicated, just easy and fun to watch.

While there are some heartfelt moments, the writers and directors do a great job keeping it light and fun. The show also has a funny way of pointing out the faults in humanity without making you feel labeled or judged. If you enjoy the vampire characters of What We do in the Shadows and the plot of Only Murders in the Building, then I think you will enjoy this show just as much.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this brief review.

Slightly uneven but if you haven’t seen the gynecological exam in episode 2, you’ve missed a classic. Be patient. There fun in every episode so far.

Ok

Such a promising show that does its best to fill the horse shaped hole in our hearts from the loss of Happy! though much softer around the edges. Toned down but a lot of the same dark, edgy humor. It is far from perfect. The show is built on an incredibly well worn path in the model of Northern Exposure and other "stranger in a strange land" type themes. With a touch of mystery and drama that plays out similar to Wayward pines and a character construct loosely modeled on a combination of Invader Zim and Dexter. That said, comfortable can be good too. Outside of a few of the jokes failing to land in the first 3 episodes, for the most part the assemblage of its various parts is a well made and well acted cobbling together of favorite entertainment comfort food. Definitely my favorite new show of 2021 so far. However given that this is a comic book property that is not owned by SciFi channel, there is every likelihood that this too will suffer the same fate as others before it such as the aforementioned Happy!, Deadly Class, Dark matter, etc. So enjoy it while it lasts cause even though its really good, all signs point to it not being long for this world. Or maybe I am just cynical and jaded after being burnt by Scifi channel so many times like this. Which, yanno, is the target demographic for this type of programming.

I would say 7.5-7.75 out of 10 Rounded up to 8

This fish-out-of-water concept has been done before, but this show has several things going for it. First is Tudyk: His perfectly-awkward comic charm makes his mission to kill all Earthlings less treacherous and very amusing. He’s surrounded by an able supporting cast and writing that manages to be funny, dramatic and sweet. There are even some moments of mild suspense. It’s one of the few genuinely enjoyable new shows on cable. The first season just concluded with season 2 announced. Expand

Although it can seem like a mashup of Monk, Northern Exposure and, I guess, Alf, it's the work of Tudyk that lifts the series. Not to belittle the supporting cast and production team, but it's Tudyk' s show and he runs with it. Expand

Funny, touching, lots of complexity, a clear plot development moving it along. But there were lots of unexpected elements that added to the quality. Good work to all that created it. It works on every level. Never a dull point. Season 2: rating is a 2 or 3. It is like a writer just used madlibs and made dialogue that was random. The drama is petty and small, and totally unnecessary. There is so much hostility. Especially anti-male revenge hostility. Why? I guess it was a calculation based on the season one audience. But it is painful to watch now. It seems like it is intended as an anti-popular crowd diatribe that loves to say a big blank U to people the writers don't like. There is not one male character that looks or acts like 99% of guys. Its like they are from another planet where they had only heard stories of what males were like from angry women and then tried to portray those characters in a show. And Harry is not funny anymore and his motivations are inexplicable. Expand

Indeed, Harry's little aside on the Oz'"flying monkeys" should be heeded by everyone ....right and ....left. It's a veiled attack on PC culture! Good on them. Thumbs up for the audacity.

Great mix of witty comedy with deeper societal commentary and slapstick comedy with plain old physical humor. I look forward to laughing out loud through the entire episode!
