Pure garbage, what will they do next, Cleopatra the black queen and shemale.
They just need to take out a series of Muhammad saying that he was black or that he was a woman.
Only in netflix, or wokeflix.

an absolute contempt for history and people from Egypt! why does history HAVE to be rewritten? why can't history be told as it was? why MUST a light-skinned person be made into a dark-skinned one? why do you HAVE to take away the origin andan absolute contempt for history and people from Egypt! why does history HAVE to be rewritten? why can't history be told as it was? why MUST a light-skinned person be made into a dark-skinned one? why do you HAVE to take away the origin and skin color of an entire continent? and just by the way: a WHITE queen in a country full of dark-skinned people leaves a completely different impression than a queen with the same skin color! so the story seems more along the lines of "she was like them and felt like them!" and not as it was in reality..... Cleopatra felt like something better. But that doesn't really come into play in the series at all! Expand

Since the film is classified as a documentary and not a drama, those making the film have to be accurate and it should be based on historical and scientific facts, to ensure that history and civilizations are not falsified. We have known for thousands of years that Cleopatra is of Greek origin and was born in Egypt. This is a fact. Our main objection is the falsification of these facts. It is not about being Black or White or even Yellow. Let's say they wanted to portray Cleopatra as a man, we would also object to that. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disregarding the fact that this “documentary” is a disgrace to actual history; it is still objectively terrible. You can tell how badly they wanted to emanate HBOs “Rome” by further incorporating dramatic aspects to the story. They fall hilariously short. You’d think it would be easier to dramatize the events that took place surrounding Cleopatra. Instead we’re presented with Grey’s anatomy level writing and acting. If you want to witness a real writers strike and have literal time to burn I couldn’t recommend this series enough. However If you’d like to watch a well produced historical TV show with great set design, real characters, and half decent writing, Rome is what you want to watch. Not this filth. Expand

As an Egyptian, this show is very disrespectful to me for the message it’s trying to send.

One side of it is the historical inaccuracy of a well studied and understood historical character, specially when it’s claiming to be a documentary that has experts behind the show (who are apparently very biased).

The other side of this message the show is sending is forcing the afrocentric idea that the modern Egyptians are not the descendants of the ancient Egyptians. This growing idea is trying to strip us of our identity and claim that we are Arab invaders. They ignore any scientific facts such as DNA tests differing Egyptians from arabs or linking Egyptians to the mummies. And they also ignore the fact that Egyptians have a clear and distinct culture from Arabic gulf countries and a lot of it is based on our past. The result is that they end up attacking us and calling us racist when we try to express ourselves with the american terminologies that we don’t even understand well in this fight that is forced on us.

It really saddens me how much money went into its production for sending this political message while there is a lot of African history that no one knows anything about. Please leave Egyptians alone and stop attacking us.

A Cinematic Tragedy: Queen Cleopatra Falls Flat

Queen Cleopatra, the highly anticipated historical epic, proves to be an abysmal disappointment. This cinematic endeavor fails to live up to its promise, leaving audiences utterly unsatisfied and yearning for substance. From its convoluted plot to its lackluster performances, the film collapses under its own weight, succumbing to a sea of misguided choices.

Despite the grandeur of ancient Egypt, Queen Cleopatra lacks authenticity and fails to transport viewers to the era it portrays. The screenplay is riddled with clichés, resulting in predictable and uninspired storytelling. The performances of the cast are lackluster at best, with even the talented leads failing to breathe life into their characters.

Furthermore, the pacing of the film is erratic, making it difficult to engage with the narrative. The editing feels disjointed, hindering any chance of emotional investment. Additionally, the excessive use of CGI is distracting and detracts from the overall viewing experience.

In the end, Queen Cleopatra falls short of its potential, leaving audiences disappointed and longing for a more captivating cinematic journey. It serves as a stark reminder that even the most glamorous of productions can crumble under poor execution.

Expand

Being a Ancient Egypt historian myself, this is incredibly disgusting. This series is influenced by extreme feminism and history revisionism and not actual history. The series acts like white men are toxic and women are infallible. They make Cleopatra out to be a perfect warrior and leader, she was not a warrior nor was she perfect nor was she a feminist. Everything about this is fake. Even the "Professionals" they interviewed don't seem to know anything about the subject they are talking about and only one was an actual Egyptologist. Cleopatra was horribly inbred, murdered her family members just to get ahead, and slept around with a married man, so the deification of her is bizarre. As far as race, I am not fully white myself, it would have been fine had you done a fantasy action adventure series on Cleopatra, but you literally touted this as a documentary, which it is not. Yes Egypt is on the continent of Africa but that does not make the Ancient Egyptians black Africans. We know for a fact Cleopatra was Macedonian Greek and possibly Egyptian, but most certainly not black, as in Sub-Saharan Africa. We can literally trace her family line and there is tones of art that was made when she was alive, none of which portray her as black. She was from the Ptolemaic dynasty which was Greek and they quite frequently married within their family to preserve the purity of their bloodline, so pushing an agenda of her being Sub-Saharan Africa is ridiculous. These are all false narratives pushed by an agenda.

Nothing about this series is actually based off fact. Africa is a continent and has a lot of diverse races that live there. To assume everyone who lives on the African continent is black is incredibly disrespectful. The Ancient Egyptian were not a black race. If you don't believe me google Coptics. This whole show is incredibly disrespectful to Egyptians who this history belongs to and the Greeks who is Cleopatra's race. If any of the people who produced this series actually studied ancient Egypt or even studied hieroglyphics you would have not tried to portray history in this manor, but since this is pure fiction you should remove documentary from its title.

I understand the need to want to make an African Queen series and there are plenty of wonderful stories from history about them. I suggest doing actual research on the Kingdom of Kush and their adoption of the ancient Egyptian script into their culture called Meroitic. You could even look into the Medjay, the Nubian military desert scouts who became an elite police force that the Ancient Egyptians used to protect the region as well as tombs and royal palaces. There were a few Black African Pharaohs as well such as Shabaka, Taharqa, Tanutamun, Qalhata. But the only problem with this is you would have to admit the culture of ancient Egypt isn't Sub-Saharan Africa and that would destroy your whole revisionism ideas. No one wants fake history. Please next time do actual research with actual Egyptologists and don't just take some women's Grandma's biased opinions on history.

I was debating on canceling my Netflix account before now and this made it a for sure. That fact you back such propaganda towards other cutlers is sick. You are not fooling anyone. I think it's sad there is more historically accurate Historians and Egyptologists on YouTube telling African Queen's stories after you all decided to release this hogwash, on your platform, which has the money to do actual research. It's clear we need to start educating Americans on ancient world history far better then we have been. There is some wonderful histories we could teach and African Americans need to be empowered with their actual history and not culture appropriate for the sake of empowerment.

Final recommendation: Netflix, please try your customers with equilibrium; otherwise, you're going to lose them Expand

Absolute disgrace for the people of Egypt and I feel sorry for them, since their beautiful history and culture is being used as a tool for shoving toxic ideologies to american idiots that don’t know anything about world and history outside of US.
