It’s the most perfect successor to the original series. It has become popular on peacock

I want to love this for the Punky Memories and the little one is a stand out! But the rest of it? The writing is so bad it should be studied and I think their is a good reason that the retuning adults never made it in acting as well, it’s really bad I hate to say. I think with better writing that things could improve as even Freddie Prince Jr looks like a rookie actor with little skill.I want to love this for the Punky Memories and the little one is a stand out! It could have been a strong show fostering more young girls to be themselves the was the original did but instead it’s a pandering afterthought.
If there is a season two I hope they replace all the writers.

Your tolerance may vary for sentiments like “You don’t need to make room for Izzy in the apartment, you need to make space for her in your hearts” — mine is low — and there’s nothing here that strives to be remotely novel.

Fans of the original series will find themselves well served by this reboot, though others may want to take a “Punky Power” nap instead.

Sure, the new Punky Brewster is still a sitcom aimed at younger viewers. But it’s got a warmth and sweetness to it that feel genuine. And it’s smart enough to deal with Punky as she is now, not trying to make her into some grown-up version of her 8-year-old self.
