After four episodes, I'm impressed with the acting, the realism, and most of the action and story line. The action is, however, starting to become a bit repetitive, and while there is some violence, nobody has died. Nobody significant and we don't even see it - which seems strange. Even the violence is more suggested than explicit.

Actors are extraordinary - those who play the Shelby brothers are impressive, as well as the female actors - the mother and the women in the brothers' lives. Writers need to up the ante though.

This period drama is mostly believable except for some poor directing and lackluster action choreography. I saw an extra doing the same movement over and over again in one scene, like an animatronic. The violence needs to be taken up a dozen or so notches. Without the necessary violence, peaky blinders isn't a credible gangster show. Sam Neil's accent goes from Irish to American with some kiwi. A poorly acted gangster show with gratuitous violence is more entertaining than a well-acted show with obvious fake violence. Expand

A série começa bem, apresenta o mundo que passa a história certinho bem contextualizado, teve briga teve traição tudo ok.

Enough callbacks to make this a worthwhile experience for the show’s fans, if not quite a peak one.

Peaky Blinders is literate (watch for the visual references to “L’Atalante” and Charon’s crossing) and sometimes great looking, with impressive evocations of hellish industrial sections of Birmingham that have a science-fiction feel. But for a sprawling soap opera that packs in Roma curses, shell shock, hash pipes, Chinatown prostitutes and gang members sporting the 1919 version of a half-shaved boy-band haircut, it doesn’t have quite enough juice.

It’s a respectable but chilly effort, fine for those who choose to invest the time but hardly a loss should one turn a blind eye.
