This is the best thing to come out of the DC multiverse so far. It's hilarious and better than the Suicide Squad counterpart. We need more of this and less Zach Schneider piles of poop.

John Cena’s Peacemaker was one of the best components in the revamped Suicide Squad movie and this show gave multiple layers and meaning to his character. Not all the jokes might've hit right for me, with some being used to undercut otherwise good dramatic moments. But otherwise? This was an amazing series, I loved the characters and the weird twists and turns the stories took. But you can almost always count on a James Gunn movie or series to have a great soundtrack. I'm glad his version of the Suicide Squad is getting more love and will look forward to both more of it and of Peacemaker. A total blast. Give James Gunn carte blanche and much like Guardians and The Suicide Squad, he gives us characters we care about, over the top action, great dialogue, but most of all, fun. John Cena has slowly become a great comedy presence,A total blast. Give James Gunn carte blanche and much like Guardians and The Suicide Squad, he gives us characters we care about, over the top action, great dialogue, but most of all, fun. John Cena has slowly become a great comedy presence, beginning with Trainwreck through to now (one could argue his wrestling persona is a total goof, and I wouldn't disagree). He has a face that looks like it was chiseled from granite with a brow that looks like a clenched fist. But when he lightens up, he has the face of an awe inspired child. And that definitely helps since Peacemaker is a chauvinistic, somewhat racist dolt. He is trying to be better, though, taking baby steps along the way. You see it in his reaction to his father's rants (played by Robert Patrick as an impermeable wall of hatred). He can't help he was raised by such a man, whom he is still trying to get his respect. And it's in those moments of inspection and self doubt that makes us love the character even more. Danielle Brooks (so good, as she was in Orange Is The New Black) is the team member that is the closest to being the audience surrogate, and her getting to know Peacemaker helps humanize him and the show. And the dialogue. From describing why Peacemaker doesn't care for Aquaman, to the pronunciation of the Berenstien Bears, and what the f are they putting in Cheetos...all are Golden Gunn. Peacemaker felt like a spiritual sequel to Gunns 2010's super with its akward band of borderline psychotic street 'heroes'. Most scenes are played for laughs and while this certainly worked (i was often chuckling throughout) i did feel the more serious sequences could never quite have any impact after scenes of purile humour have just taken place. Pacing is good and the action is top tier. In such an over saturated genre its hard to do it well and Gunn pulled it off here. A great binge watch.… Expand

Love this show. James Gunn and the entire crew did a phenomenal job. The cast was great, John Cena standing out as the lead. Some jokes missed the mark, but other than that the negatives were few and far between.

Everything from the intro onward is weird, random and fun the entire time. I wasn't a huge fan of the suicide squad movie, I thought it was OK at best, so this show completely surpassed my expectations.

Raunchy, absurd and completely ridiculous, this is everything that Peacemaker should be.

A very surrealistic view of super hero. This totally follow the Suicide Squad of JG. The dialogues are phenomenal at times. The acting very strong all around. But if you're willing to put up with (or even like) the raunchy, gross humor, you'll find that Peacemaker is truly something special. The characters in this show are well developed by the end, and you find yourself rooting for the group by the time of their final episode! The pacing isn't bad at all (with the first episode being a possible exception) and the story manages to stay coherent without fully being on track or derailed by side plots. The action is amazing, and the music you'll hear is amazing, but with Gunn, that's a given.… Expand

James Gunn, who wrote/directed both Gardians of the Galaxy films, plus The Suicide Squad, is back at the helm and there are hints of his irreverent, wacko style. So far, it's not as wildly "out there" as the movies, but there are sassy moments, brazen fights and flawed heroes. Cena's comic abilities help. The newest visit it the DC Comics Universe doesn’t start out as raunchy or silly, but by the 3rd episode it's starting to gain that fun momentum.… Expand

I don't know why, of all the generally great characters from The Suicide Squad, they decided to make a TV show based on easily the worst character from that movie. While it's very well shot, well-choreographed action-wise, and features someI don't know why, of all the generally great characters from The Suicide Squad, they decided to make a TV show based on easily the worst character from that movie. While it's very well shot, well-choreographed action-wise, and features some great licensed music usage (as per usual from Gunn), Peacemaker falls very flat in the comedy department. It's just not a particularly funny show and relies far too much on grade-school level cursing and gross out humor that just doesn't land the overwhelming majority of the time. It's as if James Gunn is just trying to abuse the R-rating privilege before returning to PG-13 work with Disney (which, admittedly, he's much better at writing and executing). The characters, both new and returning from TSS, also really just don't land. A lot of them feel very same-y and don't differentiate themselves enough from one another, and the lead in Peacemaker himself is just a really annoying character to spend time with most of the time. He's just aggravatingly dumb most of the time and his character shift seems far too sudden compared to how vehemently unlikable he was by the end of TSS. I can appreciate this show for the fact it's very well-made, but otherwise I still really question the decision from WB to make this show for this character, rather than say Ratcatcher 2, Amanda Waller, or Bloodsport.… Expand

Amazing story, I stay up every Wednesday until midnight so I can get the next part of the story. The camera work is fantastic, in the first episode it has an amazingly choreographed fight seen with Cena and wow. So this is what has come of the first spin off show for the DCEU. Not an Amazons series or anything similar to the fantastic HBO Superman and Lois series. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show isn't without its merits. Its well filmed. John Cena does a good job. however its often not funny, and more often cringy and irritating. I gave up late into the third episode. Watching some character eating obnoxiously loud (Is eating loudly with your mouth open an American thing?) Whilst listening to an avalanche of unfunny jokes. No more...

It's a woke show, there is no denying that. One scene involves a middle eastern man lecturing peacemaker about killing to many minoritys and to kill more white people. Another for no reason at all Peacemaker says he is an Ally to the LGBT community. Another he's in a restaurant and calls the waitress "Sweet Cheeks" and proceeds to get chastised for his behaviour. Every episide starts off with him dancing in what looks like a gay nightclub. His Dad is some super racist apparent Nazi. A scene he goes to jail he straight away tells a black guy to move so he can have his seat then every single white male in the prison block walks over kneals and raises their arm with the Nazi salute... Its just ridiculous.

I am not wasting anymore time giving this show second chances. If you like what modern woke hollywood is always preaching then you will probably still find something to be offended by with this show, for everyone else. There's much better stuff worth your time.… Expand

Maybe add in some actual freaking talent or a support cast; ie: groot/gamora/rocket (you know, talent, like-able, some depth, personalty, believable?). Maybe just a lower bar; good actors...

The shallow and depthless characters are as wide as a lake and and as shallow as a puddle. As the story forces in a bunch of benign topics that are supposed to be edgy; 25% of scenes are just out of place and feel forced/jumbled. Clear they were aiming for messaging and "correct" hiring vs casting correctly and it shows. I see a good story buried under all the trash; too bad it was whittle down to this mediocre at best result.

Love of god; it is James Gunn and DCU... expected a-lot more.

Watch for funny scenes with eagly!... not much else there.… Expand

James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad fame, writes/directs, so it's going to be some kind of great. It's wacky, zany, over the top in many ways, and star John Cena embraces the weird and his character gets pilloried alot and I think that's a proxy for taking darts personally, too. I think he knows he's not a real actor yet and in this vehicle we're all right with that. I hope you like '80s hair metal because that's the soundtrack throughout. His crew is definitely the "B" team but they're kind of adorable with "Vigilante" coming really close to "Deadpool" territory. And "Eagly". How do you go wrong with a full size American Bald Eagle as your BFF?! I'll be there for its sophomore season.… Expand
