There are decent bones for a more unique sitcom lying underneath all the clichés, but “Outmatched” will need to lean into its own potential for strangeness in order to find them, and hopefully, won’t take its time doing it.

The pilot of Outmatched is long on good ideas and short on smarts or funny lines, and that’s a disappointment.

If it weren't for the references to weed vapes, Outmatched could have been time-warped from the early '90s.

Outmatched is abominable, repulsive claptrap, not just anti-intellectual but actually anti-intellect, a rousing call for the stupification of America.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Show suffers from the stereotype that all adults are stupid and any kid is smarter than all adults. So kids gradually get stupider the older they get (from drugs, smoking, and peer pressure, I assume).

Interesting premise - nice to see intelligence celebrated in a sitcom now that Big Bang has ended its run. To be really funny, the parents need to be sharp and wise the the ways of the world. This would place them as equals to the uber-smart kids who might know a lot of facts, but nothing of getting by in the world.

Try raising the IQ of the parents by 75 IQ points and see how much funnier it can be.

    Spoiler
Great plot twist to find the "normal" daughter is so much smarter than the others, that she is playing normal just to keep her real abilities under wraps and work the others.

For the most part I thought it was rather funny, It's a simple show with a good premise and easy to just unwind to.
