It's good and is made even better by future episodes but still is nothing absolutely too special. This episode's brilliance mostly comes from the chemistry between prince charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and their excellent portrayal of the respected characters. Dallas has a very good and charming smile and is very nice in playing a prince. Goodwin is good at playing both a stealthy criminal and a broken inside princess who lost her path long ago. Their interactions are very natural and are made more romantic by the forest location and lighting of the scenes. The story does however lack a bit of plot as it is mostly compiled of two things: Prince charming's and snow white's romance, which is good but not good enough to carry the entire episode, and setup for future episodes and expositions of backstory. Apart from providing important plot points for the future of the show and showing snow and Charming's first encounter this episode mostly feels like filler. I'd also like to point out that the make up for the trolls in this episode was not very good. The look itself was great but the make up prevented the actors from expressions with their faces, making the trolls very unnatural as if they are barely moving their mouths and just wearing masks and not make up. There is also a plot hole in this episode when it comes to the time line of the show. Snow says that the queen blames her for ruining her life and when the prince asks if that's true Snow nods her head in silence and guilt and answers yes, suggesting that she already knows about Daniel's death by this point. This is however later contradicted by episode 20 of season 1 where Snow finds out of Daniel's passing long after these events. The writers were obviously setting up future story but then the future story ruined this set up. However overall the episode was definitely great and is a perfect addition to the show. Expand
