With a mini-reunion of key players from "Big Little Lies" at its core, Nine Perfect Strangers combines a book by Liane Moriarty with Nicole Kidman and writer-producer David E. Kelley, then surrounds them with an equally impressive cast. The series is another one of those riddles wrapped in a mystery, managing to pique interest while remaining stingy about disgorging big truths, much less little lies. Read full review

Experience “Nine Perfect Strangers” is as an appreciation of a perfect cast. Looking deeper than that reveals its flaws. It lacks the mystery or social commentary of something like “The White Lotus” (another Summer 2021 hit about damaged people on a beautiful vacation) but the people gathered here find enough truthful grace notes about the human condition to justify the trip. Though the show’s tone veers dramatically depending on who is at the center of a scene, the individual performances are fun and lively enough to frequently cover up how hollow the whole endeavor feels. But Masha is a big problem. ... She is meant to be a mystery with a human being underneath, but only the former part comes across, which becomes frustrating the longer it takes to establish what Masha really wants. Great show. Takes 9 people and beautifully analyzes the human condition. Showing how all different walks of life have their own individual challenges. Great acting, intriguing storyline and very good camera work. Also explores new age therapeutics in a interesting setting.

Agree that is has overacting and the story just isn't that interesting. Kidman has never been this bad. Not expected that, i kinda like her work. Some characters work, like the former football player and also the daughter's role is a good one. What starts with an interesting premise and promise for good things to come, slowly slips into a disorderly state with characters so transparent we can see too easily where this going. A big problem with that is with Masha the lead character.

Not worth your time. By nature, TV series require a decent chunk of our time, which we will hopefully be rewarded for. The characters talk in exposition, they're constantly spouting thesis statements, and they all seem to be acting in completely different shows. I feel sorry for the talentedNot worth your time. This is not worse than White Lotus! That does not mean that both shows are not more than trash, bringing the actors participated to the mud league! By the way what happened to Kidman, is she deliberately trying to make herself unwatchable as part of the role or what?
