Why bother? No one could ever replace Darren McGavin in one of the most memorable roles on TV, c'mon! The original "Night Stalker" worked on so many different levels (and still does after 30 years the opening credits and music still rings in my head), the new "Night Stalker" is just a weak, castrated version of the superior original.

This asinine waste of the public airwaves posits an idiotic indie rocker as the new Kolchak. What was 'smatter with the old Kolchak? The pilot shows the police allowing not one, but three, reporters from the newspaper past the yellow tape into the house with an active crime scene, where the indie rocker collected evidence. Really disapointing redo of a great series that deserves a resurrection. Good concepts were bogged down by poor execution and actors who for the most part looked like they would rather be somewhere else. So glad the network put them out of their misery.

Someone once said that TV shows are produced to be watched by viewers with the average mentality of a 12 to 14 year old. After seeing all the positive reviews I

Not only is this a halfhearted attempt at capitalizing on yet another cult classic, but it has received the most offensive CSI-style glazing-over that the networks seem to think is what constitutes good story and visuals these days: Glamour, Glitz, Perfect Hair, Stylish Clothes, Fake Top 40 Music, Anorexic Women and let's not forget Flash Scene Cuts and Grotesque Overuse of CG Not only is this a halfhearted attempt at capitalizing on yet another cult classic, but it has received the most offensive CSI-style glazing-over that the networks seem to think is what constitutes good story and visuals these days: Glamour, Glitz, Perfect Hair, Stylish Clothes, Fake Top 40 Music, Anorexic Women and let's not forget Flash Scene Cuts and Grotesque Overuse of CG Recoloring. That some spritzer-sipping network fop in an Armani thinks this CSI-meets-XFILES mess is a 'homage' to Darren McGavin's cult favorite is the REAL scary subplot behind this one. Expand

This show that is supposed to be a reimagining of the 70's Kolchak: the Night Stalker is only a stinker. The Producers, Writers and Actors must think that the television audience are mindless zombies. Please ABC, scrap and burn this insult to the senses and we will try to forget it ever existed.

Horrible - I couldn't care less about these characters. A waste of an IP.

What is missing here is heart, drama, and - most inexcusably - horror.
  2. Individually and as a team, Townsend and Union exhibit less chemistry than a third-grade science set.
  3. If a show could get by on atmosphere alone, ABC's stylishy shot "Night Stalker" would be an outright success. It is creepy, spooky and scary.... But all this isn't enough to overcome what will likely prove to be an insurmountable problem: casting.
