Like many adolescent comedies, she's obsessed with boys and being cool, but one thing that sets this apart is that the cast is refreshingly full of ethnic diversity. Besides the insights into how her culture affects her family, it also provides some enjoyable supporting characters. The tone is sweet with a bit more sass than many teen shows and also includes a dark underpinning. While the jokes aren't sitcom easy, there are plenty of lighthearted interactions and some of the best punch lines are almost throwaways. It's also fun having John McEnroe as the narrator. A bonus: These actors more or less look their age. There's even a dig at Riverdale, where many of the high schoolers are in their 30s. Expand

I think this is Mindy Kaling's best work ever. It wasn't shrill or (bad) cringey or shallow or gratuitously sexual, like a lot of teen-centric shows can be, it just felt very genuine. It was definitely worth binging. Expand

This serie teaches you about the imperfect life of teenagers. I recommend 100% this serie. And I praise the good job of all (actors, writters, producers, director...)

Amazing series, fun, deep, everything you could want. Sure, it has some cliches, but they are way too small to be considered cringy.

I love this serie! Very funny but touching Divertente ma al tempo stesso toccante in alcuni argomenti trattati; certo, una serie leggera, adolescenziale, ma promossa a pieni voti

This show is now in its 4th very good season but there's narrow minded individuals with some sort of axe to grind who watch a few minutes of episode 1, Season 1, and then condemn it for jaw-dropping, head-scratching reasons and give it a 0. Almost any movie, tv show, album, or video game has at least some value. If you sat down to watch a movie and all you got was a blank screen for 2 hours, well then that would be a 0. Any content from the 4 categories rated here deserves at least a little credit for the simple fact that somebody went to the time, trouble, and expense to create said content. If after watching that content and at least giving it a chance (and how can you judge something by watching the 1st 15 minutes) if you then are convinced it's no good, it should still deserve at least SOME score. At least 1 or 2 if you really hated it but giving something a 0 IMO ruins the ratings that some more objective, unbiased people give it. I don't remember any of the critics dishing out too many 0's, if any. It would indicate the critics normally have a better understanding of what their watching or listening to or what their playing, as opposed to some of the clowns with an ulterior motive and questionable taste when it comes to how they view things in this messed up world we live in. Anyhow, I've watched every episode of all the 1st 3 seasons of NEVER HAVE I EVER...and am about halfway through the 4th and final season and I can honestly say I've enjoyed each and every show. Somebody will always complain about something, especially in this day and age but I can truly say that when I reach the end of season 4 I'll be sorry that it's over. Expand

NEVER HAVE I EVER S1 (NETFLIX)

I absolutely fell in love with show from the first few moments. Brought to us by the uber talented Mindy Kailing. The show centers on an Indian American girl whose desperate to loise her virginity to her high school crush. The show is hilarious and heartfelt and the star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is everything. All the supporting actors are great as well from the hunky Daren Barnet, cutie Jaren Lewinson, Richaa Moorjani as her feisty cousin, Pooma Jagnnathan as her hilarious mother and Ramona Young and Lee Rodriguez as her hysterical friends. And how could I forget the awesome Niecy Nash as her sassy psychiatrist. I really hope they renew this for season 2 because it was so great I watched it twice back to back.

This is definitely a show I wish was around when I was a teenager. It perfectly sums up life as a teen, especially one who has suffered a great loss. It's funny, it's sad, it's everything you'd want in a Netflix coming-of-age show.
