I've worked in the game industry for 15 years, they nail a lot of it, it's funny and has some soul. Great series

Whether tech savvy, a gamer, or just a fan of comedy, MQ covers all the bases. Robert McElhenney brings his brand of comedic energy made famous by Always Sunny along with fellow alum David Hornsby. The only thing that could make this show any better is if Hornsby was playing his famous role of Rickety Cricket still! Expand

Awesome show! I was really surprised how good this show is. Very funny! If you are into gaming or the gaming business the show is so great! But also for people who are not into gaming! Love it and can’t wait for next season!

The World Is Like The Beatles

Based on my professional experience in the corporate world, I'll vouch for the accuracy of the Apple+ series Mythic Quest. I have a difficult time critiquing comedy. I've never rated a comedy of any medium higher than 8. So, when I rate Mythic Quest as a 7 - that means I think it is very good.

The other problem with comedy is that what is funny to some individuals is not necessarily funny to other individuals. In this case, you would need to like irony and over-the-top silliness to enjoy Mythic Quest. Also, you would need to have some individual appreciation of the computer gaming industry.

I guess the thing that made this comedy better than others is that there are some life issues dealt with in the show that have relevance and are dealt with in a credible and somewhat insightful way.

Given the subject matter (computer gaming industry) I'm guessing that a lot of individuals may not enjoy Mythic Quest as much as I did.

One of the most funny, diverse and nuanced shows I've seen for a long time. I think it took about 4 episodes to truly find its legs and it then became one of the best shows I've seen.

I’m not a gamer, but the show is interesting, funny, witty, and engaging as a entertaining workplace parity. Highly recommended!

As the series begins the studio, lead by creative director Ian Grimm, are preparing to release a major expansion to the game, but things never run smoothly…

After a fairly mediocre pilot episode Mythic Quest hits it’s stride pretty quickly. Truth be told, if you have no interest in video games, it’s likely a number of jokes will go over your head, but for gamers like myself this first season provided plenty of laughs. There was even time to fit in a surprisingly moving episode, featuring completely different characters, mid-way through the season that showed a whole other side to this show.

It’ll be interesting to see what season two brings.

Both are essentially workplace comedies, but whereas Lasso presents workmates as extended family with a "can't we all just get along" Ted Lasso philosophy, MQ presents workmates as a fully dysfunctional family, with most everyone looking out for themselves. Mcelhenny, Hornsby and Day have taken their years of making unlikable characters lovable in Sunny, and created ego driven characters who have to straddle art versus commerce in the world of videogame production. There's an exchange between lead creative Ian and lead programmer Poppy that's a through away line, but is a brilliant bit. The movie Weird Science is mentioned, that (the younger) Poppy doesn't know. She says, "just because something's old doesn't make it good." Ian replies, "you don't understand our culture." She replies back, "what culture?". Three lines that say so much. There are hints of Sunny that seep their way in. Nazi's are used as comedic fodder, whiteboards are brought out, the flummoxed human resources director acts like the lawyers/social workers, etc. in Sunny, that has to deal with these idiots. Much has been said of the stand alone episode covering the rise and fall of a videogame, again highlighting art versus commerce, and it is heartbreakingly brilliant. Which has a callback in the final episode of season one that is surprising, but makes perfect sense. The characters can be cartoonish, but Mcelhenny and company find the heart and soul within their comedic creations. Expand

This show has so much charm. It's great as a drama and a comedy. I love all the characters, and I care about them like they are my friends.
