Darren Criss has a great cameo appearance and the musical moments and new songs are terrific (the music is exactly what other recent Muppet projects have been missing...The Muppets are just not so wonderful without song).
It has the potential of being a staple in my annual Halloween viewing in years to come.
Well done.

This was just a 50 minute advertisement for the Haunted Mansion. The jokes and humor were cheap. It not feel like the good ole muppets I’m familiar with.

The film doesn’t make full use of the Muppets or even the haunted mansion. The actors who show up are at least in good form though. Especially Taraji P. The underlying story works well to explain the tying of two franchises together. There is an insane amount of deep Haunted Mansion references, including a joke about the gift shop outside and the ride breaking down so often.
Unfortunately, Muppets Haunted Mansion just isn't fun, and the jokes largely don't land.
Strangely, there is a reoccurring joke that is a straight rip-off of a joke that started as a deleted scene from "Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure" and was later used in a standalone short called "Ominous Warning". No one from that production seems to be involved in this, but hey, Disney isn't going to sue itself.
Kids may find it fun. Longtime Muppet enthusiast will probably be disappointed by Disney... again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This had potential, but alas they missed the mark again. Visually the movie is decent and it does capture all the famous elements of the classic Disney ride, but that's about it. Once again they have gone for a very silly spoof-type of approach with no proper story (much like the two recent modern Muppet movies). Yes all your favourite Muppets are there and yes it is entertaining to a degree (if you can also look past the horrendously bad new voice acting of certain characters), but I YEARN for a proper Muppet movie with an actual plot...you know, like a movie should be. They have also incorporated far too many songs in the more recent Muppet flicks, this is no different. We just move from one famous ride scenario to the next with a new song, ugh!! At the end of the day this simply feels like an extended advert for the actual Disney ride and not an actual movie (was it??). Still, at least it's better than the 'Muppets Wizard of Oz', yeesh! A far cry from the heights of 'A Muppet Christmas Carol' and 'Muppet Treasure Island'. What's the problem here? Expand
