Negative notes: the management of villains. Positive Notes: Kamala Khan may be the very reason why The Marvels suddenly becomes a bit more interesting movie.

As with all of the other shows, it starts off promising before it fumbles at the end. This however has tons of fun characters though and a fun style for Episodes 1-3 and part of 6.

I like the Khan family dynamic, actors and the show works better as sitcom. However as superhero show it is a bit boring or generic first, the story is weaker in the first half and there are some inconsistencies. Lets start at the beginning. I was surprised they chose Kamala Khan for a Marvel show. While I like her as character she has not the biggest fan base in comics but neither had the Guardians of the Galaxy so I gave the benefit of a doubt. Sadly the show did not convince most of the audience (or me completely). Like I said I would prefer it as family show aka sitcom. Here the show shines far more. The actors are excellent and I praise the whole cast. The Khan family and others are entertaining and relatable even from my different cultural background. Some issues seem to be universal. So I praise the whole cast for their performance. The story is a hit and miss. There are some things that feel a bit forced and inconsistency. It was still interesting enough to watch and it gets better in the later half. The action scenes are a bit weaker too. Especially the fight choreography is not top notch. While other say the special effects were awful I would mostly disagree. Overall this is a decent to good show I can see it being universally loved with some fixes. Beware the weaker beginning. Expand

Normally, the MCU deals with characters that have had about 60 years of comic book stories to adapt from, but Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan has been around for less than 10, which gave the creators of this series much less to work with, allowing a reasonable amount of forgiveness with how many liberties they take with the character. However, the creators of this series made the very unwelcome decision of completely altering the character's abilities as well as the source of her abilities, much to the ire and alienation of comic book fans who were looking forward to the adaptation of this character. It was a strange move for Marvel to approve this, as it causes an issue between crossover fans (going both ways).

All that said, there is little to complain about regarding the cast and performances, but the story and dialogue is not exciting, and there simply isn't enough to keep you wanting to watch more and more episodes. Although this may be a cultural win, there is nothing new here. By the end, I'm sure you'll be saying "I swear I've seen this EXACT plot somewhere else.."

Marvel destruyendo su legado es triste ver como costó entrar de manera decente a la o dustria del cine y tv. Con los comics para que hoy día con producciones como estas se destruya todo ese arduo trabajo.

I see what they were trying to go with this one and, yay representation etc. Still suffers from the same old Disney/Marvel genericism problem. I feel no more changed or satisfied after this as I did Falcon, Dr Strange etc. My scores steadily decrease the longer Marvel continues this trend. Like yeah, I get its competently made but even compared to something like Black Panther the representation is shallow. There was nothing in this story that really would be impacted if the character was any other gender or background. At least Black Panther's villian actually had his background inform his character arc. Like if you're gonna make representation I just want it to be better than this. Really hated the lame-ass 'insta stories' at the end which just reeked of Disney patting itself on the back for doing the bare minimum. Boring, generic, mid-tier. I guess the special effects were better than recent films and the acting was alright. Glad it only had a 6 ep run too as that prevented it dragging. Next Marvel thing like this gets a 4 then a 3 etc... Until they come out with something that properly feels fresh it's so hard to actually give em a good score. Maybe they're just limited by their audience and genre who knows. Shrug, watch it or don't you're not missing nor gaining much either way. Expand

Wasted potential, that's my word for this series like lets talk about the positive aspect first. Love the Pakistani culutre, kamala is very much a relatable character, the story is somehow intriguing but sadly it's disappointing at the end, and so much more.
Personally im fine with it but there's so much potential in it, and now in the end for me? it's the worst ever mcu disney plus show

Now the negative stuff or thingy. The End plot (Episodfe 6) is bad like really "Luke Cage" bad, im very disappointed with the ending and i bet "The Marvels" will be as bad as this. There's no real hero lessons in this like remember when peter parker first got his powers and then uncle ben said that famous line "With great power come great responsability"? well in here there's none of that stuff which is bad for me personally cause at that time peter parker was in "highschool" almost the same age as kamala right now, i assume the director/writer forgot about it cause they really love adding up that Pakistani culture everywhere, next there's too much mediocre scenes, the jokes most of them aren't that funny, and many more.
Im sad cause there's SOOO much potential that we could get from Ms Marvel, i hope that Kevin Feige could fix this kind of mess with new characters in the future. #phase4isdisappointing

Ms. Marvel brought to life one of the most underrated Marvel characters perfectly with a change to her powers that at first I wasn't sure about but ultimately grew to really like. Iman Vellani's performance as Kamala Khan is sheer perfection, she's perfectly embodies who Kamala is and what it's like to be a huge comic book and Marvel nerd and fan. Zenobia Shroff, Nimra Bucha, Mohan Kapur, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Anjali Bhimani, and Samina Ahmad gave great performances. The visual effects were outstanding, I loved how unique and beautiful they were visually. I loved all the the comic book style pop ups. The music was exceptional. An A+ series. Expand

The protagonist is a fan girl who puts pie in the sky dreams before family, and is self-centered and so delusional as to see the old comic style bubbles narrating her life. She finds a magic bracelet, and now is a green lantern. But an unfunny or less funny version of Green Lantern. The production values were good, though. Expand

The Disney plus line-up continues to be very mid at best, and while this one is one of the best Disney plus shows, I cannot emphasize enough that this is a low bar to clear. At least it's not FATWS... but at this point how is the character (both visually and storywise) in the show even Ms. Marvel anymore?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first two episodes are truly bad. The actress who plays Kamala Khan seems likable but….isn’t? Due to poor writing she has to be charming while acting like an ass. This is a consistent problem with Disney princess arcs. They’re born perfect and the only impediment to the character is that no one realizes their perfection. It’s self involved. I think Kamala’s parents are right to worry about her being out late at night in New Jersey. Nope, they’re too controlling. I think her friend is right to feel snubbed when she cancels her training without telling him. Nope, he’s just jealous. I think it’s a terrible way to write heroes that little girls could look up to.
Pre Endgame every Marvel hero was on a journey of embracing self sacrifice - that’s a traditionally “boy hero trait” (Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Thor, etc.). There is no reason girl characters should be any different but that arc can’t happen when you’re just so obnoxiously awesome right off the bat. Give us a Wanda, not this trite nonsense.
The lack of any interesting development is back filled with the standard empowering (pandering) story beats. We will have a period discussion, why? Is that empowering? How? Peter Parker doesn’t discuss the web fluids he gains in puberty. Then there has to be a girl power moment at the mosque. Why? Who thinks a teenager is the best leader for a community organizations? Pretty much no one, because teenagers still need to grow up. The scene where a family friend is pressured to vote for her because of woman’s suffrage. Come on, really? Suffrage is not about teen girls being entitled to everything they decided they wanted yesterday. And for gods sake, correcting someone for saying your name wrong is not empowering. I have an uncommon name. If you say it wrong, and IF I even care, I’ll correct you. Then you can say it right next time. No one intentionally says your name wrong. Doesn’t happen. 99.% of the world doesn’t want to offend others and do their best not to. If you’re easily offended by things like people mispronouncing a name they don’t have much exposure to then you’re the impatient self absorbed one. Disney is not actually teaching girls to be good women, just how awesome they already are. What do you get out of that? Where do you grow? See Captain Marvels “arc” for the answer. Nowhere.
Just to touch a little more on the topic of religion, man is it unnecessary and half baked here. Disney wants religious diversity to show how noble they are. I can only think of Jesus being mentioned once in the entire MCU - as a Starlord joke. Was Iron Man Muslim / Christian / other? Does anyone care? How is mentioning only Islam at length diverse? And then to do it in this wannabe feminist way because Disney can’t really ignore that Islam, historically, hasn’t treated women great. How to maneuver this minefield? How about don’t. No one wants religion and religious activism in the MCU. No one. Seriously, Feige, poll your fans as they leave the theatre, you’re allowed. No one prefers the forced diversity of the new heroes. Ask them.
Anyways, we have another day 1 hero and we get our cringe filled post heroics swagger scenes as she walks into the high school. This is a hard underline of why the post Endgame MCU sucks. Think how different it is from Peter Parker refusing to show off his powers because it feels self serving and dumb. It is, and it makes Kamala unlikable and shallow when that’s her attitude. What even is the actual Marvel story here? Girls got bracelets from box, has training montage. All this ugly, pedantic, PC window dressing around that stupidly simple progression is pointless.
Kevin Feige, give us good heroes! You did it for a decade, how can you not know how all of a sudden? You’re becoming the new Lucas. I honestly don’t understand how you guys (Yourself, Spielberg, Lucas, The Wachowskis, etc. ) can’t see where you left the track. You had it! We all thought you understood, you don’t. There’s no shame in taking a step back and course correcting. I think the big realization that needs to dawn on all these creators is this - it was not just you. It was Favreau, the Russo brothers, great actors-and people who loved the characters more than the activism. You’ve lost them all and it shows, it’s time to clean house.

Kamala’s Mom is a boss though, nails the Indian mother. She’s so low key and perfect I worry people will miss how amazing she is here. Marvel, you want diversity? How about an older Indian female hero with a tragic back story who has selflessly been serving her family / community AND likes Bon Jovi? Give the Mom the bracelets, we have a better hero to grow with right there. I’d watch it. I won’t finish watching this garbage.

if u really wanted to show the struggles of a teen from someone who is born in north side of new jersey growing up their is a struggle bcuz of the strong new york vibe in north side of new jersey like newark nj , and jersey city east orange and more. and kamala khan wasn't born there from my understanding she moved to jersey city at a young age normally for outsiders its hard to fit in the community, ppl are arrogant towards u and its very hard to feel accepted. i think if the show focused more on reality and less about fantasy and was a grounded story that focus in the struggles living in jersey city and was more of a tragic storyline that leads to what she becomes i think ppl would've been more accepting despite the changes that was made. but the direction that they took for this show doomed it.
