The show starts of fine but by the end becomes another below average entry in the MCU. Ms. Marvel herself seems promising and hopefully she can shine in The Marvels movie.

Marvel's Disney+ features have been on a downward trend and the Ms. Marvel series hasn't brought any fresh relief. Normally, the MCU deals with characters that have had about 60 years of comic book stories to adapt from, but Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan has been around for less than 10, which gave the creators of this series much less to work with, allowing a reasonable amount of forgiveness with how many liberties they take with the character. However, the creators of this series made the very unwelcome decision of completely altering the character's abilities as well as the source of her abilities, much to the ire and alienation of comic book fans who were looking forward to the adaptation of this character. It was a strange move for Marvel to approve this, as it causes an issue between crossover fans (going both ways).

All that said, there is little to complain about regarding the cast and performances, but the story and dialogue is not exciting, and there simply isn't enough to keep you wanting to watch more and more episodes. Although this may be a cultural win, there is nothing new here. By the end, I'm sure you'll be saying "I swear I've seen this EXACT plot somewhere else.."

This is fine. Not great, not bad, just fine. It gets a bonus point for portraing Pakistania immigrants but the story and characters themselves don't offer anything too compelling, based on the first episode.

I see what they were trying to go with this one and, yay representation etc. Still suffers from the same old Disney/Marvel genericism problem. Like it's egregious now that it is content for the sake of content. I feel no more changed or satisfied after this as I did Falcon, Dr Strange etc. My scores steadily decrease the longer Marvel continues this trend. Like yeah, I get its competently made but even compared to something like Black Panther the representation is shallow. There was nothing in this story that really would be impacted if the character was any other gender or background. At least Black Panther's villian actually had his background inform his character arc. Like if you're gonna make representation I just want it to be better than this. Really hated the lame-ass 'insta stories' at the end which just reeked of Disney patting itself on the back for doing the bare minimum. Boring, generic, mid-tier. I guess the special effects were better than recent films and the acting was alright. Glad it only had a 6 ep run too as that prevented it dragging. Next Marvel thing like this gets a 4 then a 3 etc... Until they come out with something that properly feels fresh it's so hard to actually give em a good score. Maybe they're just limited by their audience and genre who knows. Shrug, watch it or don't you're not missing nor gaining much either way. Expand

I have watched only the first episode; it is well made, but this show is simply not for adults. Will not continue watching.

The whole Islam culture thing is not a detriment to me (not particularly interesting either); the actors do a decent job considering the script they have to work with. Again, the issue here (in my opinion) is that this show was not written for adults. If I had to rate this, I would give it a 5/10 and would not recommend it to my friends. I would, however, recommend it to my friends' kids.

Also, this may come as a shock to some, but you can find the show unappealing and not be a bigot, racist, etc.

Firstly I want say Iman alone deserves a 10/10 and is clearly destined for greatness. There is no question that she is Kamala Khan. My praises for the show so far though begin and end with her and her lovely family. The visual tone is phenomenal and reminds of Turning Red or Kim’s Convenience.

The deviation from the source material was always going to be contentious but unfortunately for me as a recent fan of Ms. Marvel through the Avenger’s video game I’m genuinely let down by the presentation of her abilities in action. Starting with the pacing, we literally see her go from desperately wanting powers like her favorite heroes to “I have powers!!” in some 30 minutes, to the origin, where these unknown gauntlets just conveniently find their way to Kamala. The actual constructs, though briefly used in this first episode, looked absolutely terrible and I wish I were exaggerating when I say I’ve seen better CGI from Power Rangers made-to-TV movies. The initial purple wave of cosmic energy dispelled from Kamala when she first dons the gauntlets are the some of worst graphics I’ve ever seen in a high budget Disney production, I felt so compelled to create this account and express my disdain. The actual signature (cosmic) stretching she does to rescue a classmate in danger doesn’t even try avoid the cheesiness the power usually evokes, like Mr. Fantastic in the recent Multiverse of Madness. So if it wasn’t to avoid looking cheesy, or to avoid confusing powers, why did they go with this cosmic filter over her powers to begin with? I’m beginning to suspect CGI production overload is in full effect here, and it was simply the easiest route.

All in all, the show is strong in its setting and cast, but the premise is still figuring itself out and the powers just flat out need to be redeemed somehow, hopefully in a penultimate twist that contributes the actual Terragenesis event in the MCU.

Feels lef down by it's graphic effects but otherwise it's as enjoyable as the comic. A very faithful adaptation with one of the most youthful feeling characters since spider man homecoming. If it dares to push it's boundaries and make Ms. Marvel powerful independent of her Negga bands and her stakes worthy of being continued with a marvel movie then it would already be something i enjoyFeels lef down by it's graphic effects but otherwise it's as enjoyable as the comic. It's great to have this kind of representation, but the series doesn't look that attractive. Iman Velanni nails it, though.

As with all of the other shows, it starts off promising before it fumbles at the end. This however has tons of fun characters though and a fun style for Episodes 1-3 and part of 6.

Brazenly gorges on the Marvel fandom hype but which even this old fogey can see totally works as a TV show (although do note that I’m not a Marvel-comic reader. Purists may dislike its deviations from the source).

Put simply, Ms Marvel is off to a brilliant start. I couldn't suppress my smile for the duration of the first two episodes as the show's colourful world, endearing cast and hilarious wit had me entranced. It's a coming-of-age story meets family comedy-drama by way of superhero origin and it all works superbly.

While arguably a little lightweight in nature (though, hey, it’s only two episodes so far), “Ms. Marvel” is more just enjoyably small-scale, human, and full of persuasive allure that should melt the heart of the greatest cynic or troll who feels to put up a bad review of something they haven’t even seen.
