Rami Malek, along with the writing, got me hooked on this show. Awesome show. I'm in the Information Security field and the show does a good job of replicating real life scenarios. Rami Malek is perfect as the main character.

masterpiece. It concerns a sensitive and ill-tempered subject of modern society, showing a possible solution, giving hope and motivating. And not only the subject - the inhumanity of society and the division between people, who prefer to hide their true feelings, which completely separates them from one another and makes them lonely, but also in every part of the film the sensitivity is felt. And how many important issues were highlighted, I just can't believe. I remember how deeply this series influenced me. I was mad, angry I'm part of that. On the other hand, I received understanding and reassurance. It was a whole experience for which I'm very grateful. Unbelievable job by Sam Esmail.

Here the plot is confused to put it mildly, supporting characters are weak or cliches (or both) and the show tries much too hard to be politically correct (a female Muslim hacker? Seriously?). Not to mention way too much computer jargon. Makes me feel like I need a master in IT before I am allowed to continue watching...

Character/narrator with identical characteristics of Fight Club mixed with the stares of Dr House. I was not surprised with the shortage technical about the main theme, perhaps that's what frustrated people in the area (it's for all target audience, more details could lead them to boredom). Overall it is a show ok to me and may not create expectations cause of the golden globe.

The show had me at the pilot. It directly hit my "awesome" spot.
The topic and execution of that series is totally to my taste and I feverishly gulped every episode from season 1. But I was left wanting more.
Season 2 was quite a disappointment in relation to season 1 and the writing strayed of it's path. Became psychadelic **** instead of focusing on the main point of the series.

Season 3 is again the total contrary, luckily. Rami Malek + Cristian Slater became producers and steered it back to the direction of season one and goddamn is this season awesome !!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is not about hackers or hacking and stuff like that, saying this would be like say that "Rocky" series is about boxe for example, wich isn't, Rocky is about life. Mr. Robot is about mental illness and about living the life and how you do it.

There are a lot of different aspects inside the mental situation, Elliot Alderson is the main character, and right at the beginning the show already gave a huge good hit, wich is to make we, the audience, Elliot's consciousness, wich is fantanstic, because we are inside of his head and he is all the time speaking with us, making questions, analyzing and a lot of other good stuff that wouldn't be possible if this wasn't the case, and considering that he has multiple crises, existential, anxiety and more, it is really interesting to know what he is thinking of what is going on or from who he is speaking to.

It is great that we know things from his perspective, we don't know things that he doesn't, yes we do see things that he don't, but not extra crucial things, there are a lot of moments where people around him know something that he forgot, but we are in dark just like him, trying to think of something together, that is so nice, and give some possibilities that turned out to be a giant and so dope plot twists, wich is about Elliot's family. As soon as he kissed Darlene and she was acting mad and Elliot didn't knew what was going on and Darlene said that he forgot who she is, i was already like expecting something big, but not that big, the fact that Darlene was Elliot's sister the whole time and she knew that the whole time changed so many things, and we not knowing that with Elliot while everyone around did was so surreal and well done, we could just go back and rewatch that we would see things completely differents between them, but as much as his father. About his father, there were some clues, about what was actually happening there, i did indeed suspected because of some dialogues, first, during the pier, where he pushes into the water, them there was some moments that felt strange how people reacted of some actions that he did, and i was suspecting already, but in any moment i was sure, so when it really showed what was going on, it was still a strong hit. That gaves some many possibilities for the next stuff, Elliot could have forgot about so many things and his mind state can reach so many different potential.

The philosophical parts are also huge and fantastic, the show covers a lot of thinkers, culture in general that talks about some good stuff, for example, existencialism, in a lot of moments we discuss with Elliot if we are real, the final speech of his father was so strong, what is real? All the time we are being exposed to marketing and people telling us what to do, what to think, what to feel about this and that, what is real? We are even controlling ourselves, or the invisible hand is? Our debts are comanding our attitudes? Are we really free? This show can make we questionate so much and really put some effort in us, make we think in what path we really are.

The mental illness aspect was so good in this show, probably perfect, for sure a lot of people suffers from something about that, Elliot got so many and you see it acting on him, the doubts, the feat, not knowing how to speak sometimes or how to react in some way that would be acceptable by others, the hallucinations speaking with you and for you all the time, doing stuff in your place, the feel of being followed and watched all the time, all of this is there, and watching this in fact made me so comfortable, i see a lot of Elliot in me and i think that this helps a lot, i believe that a lot of people does feel like this as well.

For that to happen well would be necessary a great actor to put us there and Rami Malek is godamn perfect, he make us completely buy all of his illness and his problems, his difficults, the traumas, you see that he is overloaded by so much in his mind, the way that he speaks, that he moves for each situation, he is perfect in many ways. Christian Slatter is also great, he does have a voice and way to act very different from Elliot, wich was great considering that they were the same person. Portia Doubleday in other hand, i don't found here very good, she felt always the same, her face expressions are always the same during the whole show, she does have a good diction, but in expressing not at all. Carly Chaikin is also very nice, her loose way and not taking many things serious really filled the show with joy.

The story overall it is nice, the parts about Elliot with his familly and mind, so as with his missions are perfect. Now, the parts about the company going up and down, the crimes, Wellick, aren't bad, but i don't that they were perfect on point, it feels that there is some winding about that, so as that there are some moments that i got a bit lost about these moments, the Wellick character may be way to caricato.

Mr. Robot is a tv show that revolves around Elliot Alderson, who is a cybersecurity engineer and hacker who suffers from social anxiety disorder and clinical depression. The show is full of suspense and a bit of paranoia. The is perfect for anyone that love the complex ideas of hack and how we are controlled by technology. It is also delightful to see a show about hacking be so accurate about the information the present. This is because they a team of advisors that include “a team of hackers and cybersecurity experts including Jeff Moss (founder and director of Black Hat and DEF CON computer security conferences), Marc Rogers (Principal security researcher for Cloudflare and head of security for DEF CON), Ryan Kazanciyan (Chief security architect for Tanium) and Andre McGregor (Director of security for Tanium and former FBI Cyber Special agent) to assist him with the authenticity of the hacks and the technology being used”. This show is perfect in many ways, yet it has a few flaws. If you do not have an interest in technical ideas, it might be hard to get captured by. The show is also quite dark, and give a lot of meta-comments on the current global situations. The show is highly recommended if you have interest in computers, cybersecurity, or simply like a well made suspenseful show. I would give a 9/10.

Season 1 is often very much a copy of Fight Club minus the homoerotic subtexts, but the performances and the depiction of hacking makes the show impossible to put down. Seasons 2 and 3 slow down the tempo, expand upon the politics, allow the characters to grow and shift, and feel generally more mature, yet no less engaging.

Then quickly shifts to paint hackers as drugged-out, schizophrenic, homeless, psychopathic nut jobs who will do anything for a “cause” without any thought of consequence. It generates the idea that the best hackers are either being manipulated by the very governments or companies that they despise OR cannot differentiate between a moral code and macroeconomic-sized criminal activity.

The pace of the show and the acting is really good and they do a lot of things well. But it's quite obvious that these characters are blatantly selling their soul to evil forces. (The Dark Army, Fsociety, AKA Devil figures). I will explain further to make it clear.

How else would the "lawyer" type that visited Tyrell (season 3 episode 3) know that he hated his father, had been unfaithful to his wife, and had killed someone? The man asks Tyrell 6 questions multiple times that are all a major sin in Christianity. He asks, "Have you murdered, have you committed adultery, do you hate your parents, will you be loyal to me"? These are part of the 10 commandments: Do not worship any other god, do not murder, do not commit adultery, honor your father & mother, do not lie.

While that doesn't really bother me, it is furthering the stereotype that most hackers are evil. When, in fact, the majority of hackers are only concerned with making security better to protect others. Like anything, it is a struggle between good and evil. But this show quickly blurs the lines into, it's all evil.

Elliot, is really drawing me in. He's so fantastically flawed, beautifully destructive, sane and insane. His outlook on the world is perhaps pessimistic, or arrogant, but there is a truth in his words - his inner dialogue that comes across as well-written poetry. By the time you're on episode four, the confusion somewhat kicks in. This is okay though, as each character is slowly becoming themselves in the show and synchronizing. I can tell how each character is going to intertwine for the most part - but Elliot is the main attraction. I believe there are people out there who are like him; snorting Morphine 30's and taking Suboxone so he doesn't withdraw - a computer genius and natural poet, and a complete sociopath who abuses his power over computers and the internet to understand the human condition and even himself. This show is well worth your time; I think even the older crowds (I'm 22) - so basically people who would be my parents, can learn something from this show. They can catch a glimpse of what we're all really like: Sociopathic internet nerds who tweet and text and share, passing information around this sterile country as if it's the very air we breath. This show captures the current zeitgeist, or overall spirit of the times

I really love the story of Mr Robot although, if I was being harsh, I can definitely see all the media it gets much of its inspiration from. To its credit, I don't think it tries to obscure or hide these influences and it is good enough that it still holds its own.

I love the acting of the core actors but I do think the wider cast is not 100% quality and some lines felt a little wooden.
