The showI didn't have too much knowledge about the character, but after watching several videos about Moon Knights comic book origins- I was fairly excited to watch the series and in my opinion the first episode does its job extremely well. The show is a "chaotic" blend of suspense and psychological/action, with some interesting characters. Kiddos on the performances especially Oscar Isaac's portrayal. I was left with many many questions and with Marvels track record im sure many of these and more will be answered. Cant wait to watch the rest. Expand

And then, two episodes in, that story is completely abandoned, as is all story really, and the show becomes a carnival ride, where you watch a series of barely connected actions sequences, and it quickly becomes incoherent and boring.

You have to wonder what is going on at Disney+, where they apparently pay for a great cast, visuals and effects, but not for writing. Or maybe there is simply not enough courage to bring a weird character like Moon Knight to the screen. But why make the show, if apparently you really just want to get it over with? It is puzzling.

This might appeal to the woke, mentally unstable, anxiety ridden, crowd ...that likes gravitates to dark moody, unhappy, gloomy, and drama filled amateur dialog...but it does not to me. Disney needs to fire the hell out of the directors and writers and start over. I can’t even believe Oscar Isaac even agreed to be in this show. Did he even read the script? Expand

Truth be told, at least in my opinion, Moon Knight is the first real disappointment of the MCU's phase 4 when it comes to the Disney+ shows.
Not because it was of poor quality but because it's the first one that leaves me with a sense of something being lost along the way.

The 6 episodes feel very short for what could have been developed in a more interesting way.
The material feels very under-explored and quite honestly what holds it together was that Oscar Issac was really committed to the role.

To some extent I question whether Marvel should have decided to present this character in a film, but I do acknowledge it would have been a risky move.
The Marvel machine is a big one and nowadays people will watch anything that has its name on it, but still I'm not so sure that Moon Knight would've been a big hit for the sprawling franchise.

I fully support the argument that the MCU needs to give its tired formula a strong makeover, but even with what Moon Knight tried to do to set itself apart, it lacked thrills, and most of all a genuine impact, because while I do applaud that despite being within the franchise's extensive storytelling, it can hold its own without real connections to other stories, it also makes you wonder what's the purpose of this character beyond this story. First because it has not yet been renewed for a second season and second because at the moment it doesn't look like Moon Knight is going to play a role in whatever Marvel is plotting. Time will tell.

And just for the heck of it, I have to mention that I couldn't help but think that Ethan Hawke was severely squandered.

Netflix left the people thirsty for more #KOREAN works by producing Squidgame #오징어_게임, #지금_우리_학교는, and #디피, but—people—they are already used-to-be unintentionally athirst for the #Grandeur_Old_Egypt_s_nobleminded_Ancients and expecting more the MUCH and initially charmed, which made Disney+ & Marvel Studios at the death's door and shinnying with Moon knight, a silly quick-made copy of Indiana Jones, The Mummy, Night at the Museum, Deadpool, and Split. With more offkey background music, poorer CGI, pretentious characters of leads, and intendedly redirected production left this show in the low-budget-ish category's value.
And the BTS point is how nepotism can be something nowadays. Marketing it by keeping it viral makes it a trend. No worth!

I admit that the first minutes made me nearly quit the show but then it started to get amazing. It won me over and I truly like it for the characters, lore, craziness and humour. Lets start at the beginning. Moon Knight is not the most famous Marvel hero. He is often described as “Marvels Batman” and linked with the Egyptian gods / lore. There is another mayor thing about him that I cant say as it would be a mayor spoiler. Those who know the character will know what I mean. The story follows Steven Grant who works in a museum shop in the Egyptian museum in London and hopes to become a tour guide as he has or is close to expert level about Egyptian culture, lore and mythology. His problem is that he has some serious sleep disturbances as he is sleepwalking and finds himself sometimes in places he has no memory getting there. The measures he takes to prevent this are impressive and you have to see them to fully believe this. The story takes momentum when he finds himself in a situation that can only be described as a bad dream or is there more to this? I like the story and twists. Except the first few minutes the whole story is fully entertaining. The climax is enjoyable and the post credits scene superb. I must warn you that others liked the ending less than me. However I say the story of the show is well done. Lets continue with the actors. Oscar Isaac is just amazing and a truly great protagonist. He nails his role. Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow is the yin to the yang. A fascinating antagonist and deep character. May Calamwy as Layla is the fitting female main character and completes the trio. The main characters have a great chemistry. The rest of the cast also delivers and makes this a true strength of the show. The practical and special effects work well and especially the mystic characters look amazing. Taweret became my favourite but the others are not bad either. I should praise the voice actors too like Murray Abraham, Saba Mubarak and Antonia Salib. Then there is the humour of the show. There are so many good scenes and situations that I enjoyed. Also they manage to get the seriousness and humour mixed in a way that non harmed the other. Overall this was an enjoyable show and I will give an 8/10. Would definitely like to see more of the characters. Expand

I have no knowledge of this character apart from his split personality aspect. However, that alone made me very interested to watch this. So does Moon Knight shine or should it have stayed in the shadow?

Firstly, Oscar Isaac is phenomenal as the titular character. Due to the split personality element, he ends up playing multiple individuals and it is just captivating to watch. There are scenes where he is just talking to himself and let's just say he has great chemistry with himself for sure! There are also some emotional moments that Oscar delivers perfectly. This might genuinely be one of Oscar's best performances yet. May Calamawy plays Layla, the love interest, and she is great opposite the amazing Oscar which is quite a feat. I especially love her interactions with the "Steven" personality which is just very sweet. Ethan Hawke plays the villain Arthur Harrow and he delivers a very unsettling but not over the top villainous performance. He is a cult leader but you could see why someone like him might be able to convince people to believe in his cause and that is all down to Ethan's performance.

Additionally, the story and characters are all very engaging. I also appreciate the darker themes explored. The music score is also amazing. There is this Egyptian authenticity in the score that elevates every scene. The cinematography and visuals are also quite stunning. However, I'm not very clear on what Moon Knight's power and abilities are. The action scenes show some things but I'm not entirely sure about his skill sets and why being the "Moon Knight" is special because he is mostly just fighting normal individuals. It also has the same issues that a fair amount of the MCU live-action shows have and that is a disappointing finale. The final episode is incredibly rushed in wrapping up the relevant plot threads and it results in an unsatisfying ending. Overall, Moon Knight was a pleasant surprise. I am glad Marvel is making the wider audience more aware of their less iconic heroes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Marvel Studios' Moon Knight is it's most impressive television project to date.

Mohammed Diab and co. did an amazing job portraying a complex character and delving into Egyptian mythology. The score, characters and setting let you know that this a story focusing on Egyptian culture and highlighting the many beautiful and mystical aspects of it.

Oscar Isaac is the standout, showing his Juilliard training in full force as he manages to instantly and believably change into various characters, each feeling like a different actor is portraying them. He also does a tremendous job in expressing the trauma that come with mental illness.

The series also succeeds in the ways that comic book films and series usually fail, and that is in the depiction of mental health. Marc Spector is a unique character in that he deals with Dissociative Identity Disorder, and although the series still delves into problematic and exaggerated depictions of mental illness, it is among the better half that succeeds in highlighting the complexity and trauma that come with mental illness.

This was a very aware of the source material Moon Knight came from and does an amazing job putting him in the MCU. Oscar Isaac does a phenomenal job playing all three personalities Marc, Steven and Jake. Had one of the best pilot episodes out of all of the Disney + Marvel shows and ended it pretty damn well. Episode 5 by far was the best in the series. Had great visual story telling and very heartbreaking scenes. This is the kind of stuff I want to see Marvel do more of in the future. GREAT JOB! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Loved Oscar Issacs acting in the show it really felt like it was 2 different people and the suit looked great. However, I wish we got more time to flesh things out I felt it would have been better if we got 1 episode with Marc dealing with the fallout of losing Steven instead of just immediately going back for him in the finale. In general, I really liked the show, especially the 5th episode made an impression and emotionally touched me. It was a strong psychological drama, which, unfortunately, can also happen in real life, but that is why this episode is so valuable for its vitality and instructiveness. In my opinion, the series tried to reveal the topic of dissociative identity disorder quite well, and there is also a virtuoso play on the perception of the audience - psychedelic, as it was in the comic book "Moon Knight" by Jeff Lemire. And Oscar Isaac leads a truly divine acting game. He gave us wonderful main characters, and the chemistry between them pleases the eyes and is pleasant to the heart, and this gave us a multifaceted, fascinating story. However, the series leaves some questions unanswered, which is frustrating. But perhaps the answers to them will be in season 2. I hope that the 2nd season will still be. In any case, even if it doesn't happen, then I didn't regret watching this show. Expand

It has an interesting concept, but it ultimately fails to entertain and convince us that the suspension of disbelief is worth it. The acting, outside of Oscar Isaac, is pretty one-dimensional. It is hard to feel any bond or empathy for any character. The whole series of episodes contains numerous plot holes that make the story difficult to follow and believe. The Egyptian gods and their interaction with humans often just seem odd. And by the end of the Series, I don't feel that I have the answers and explanations for the story lines to make sense. CG in the show could be better, there are quite a few times you can tell it was green screen or unsmoothed CG in scenes. As the season went on it felt more rushed and isolated from the rest of the MCU. Really missed an opportunity to include Thor.

The pacing is uneven I can get past most of the changes from the comics they aren't the most egregious bastardizations of a character from Marvel/Disney so I guess giving it a pass on that. The performance of Oscar Isaac is really what stands out in the show he does a great job. Ethan Hawke is an ok villain he does what he does in every movie or show gives an ok performance and you forget he was even involved in the project because he doesn't stand out as particularly good or bad. Leia the girl boss of this show isn't bad either she is less of a Mary Sue than most of these characters in Disney/Marvel projects. There’s a lot of really strong elements here but its issues are very prevalent. For starters, the show doesn’t really dive into Moon Knight’s Jewish background which is a big part of who he is. They have one or two scenes closer to the end that deal with it but it’s really not enough. The visual effects and green screen blocking are also REALLY bad at points. There are some shots that just look horrendous even by MCU standards but other shots look absolutely gorgeous. They definitely needed some more time fine tuning the visual effects before this was released. However, the story and characters here are great. I love the deeper dive into Egyptian Mythology here and we actually spend time with these characters and get to understand them. Marc and Steven are some of the best characters in the MCU now in my opinion. The action scenes are pretty good with one of the final battles with Steven being really well done. The music and interesting editing choices were all fun and screamed that this was made by people who care and want to see more Egyptian representation. The standout here is Oscar Issac’s performance or performances. Isaac is absolutely phenomenal here. He plays two completely different characters here and does it almost flawlessly. He has to transition between those two characters multiple times in one scene and it’s amazing. I really hope we see more of him. Ethan Hawke was a great villain and May Calamawy did a great job as well. If you want some interesting and fun MCU content, then this is definitely for you. Expand

So the show is about a character with a somewhat boring-ish life, working in a museum, which could be interesting but isn't really fulfilling to him. Outstanding performance by Oscar Isaac accompanied by Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy. The show had a good pacing and the story was so good, but the finale did seem a bit rushed. With the end credits we are left with more questions than answers. So I hope they make a season 2 for the show to follow through the remaining arcs. Or make a separate movie.
I think this show suits for the audience who does not know anything about Moon Knight because the hard core comic fans can be unfairly critical as Moon Knight's character was altered for the show. But I liked this version more because he doesn't feel like a Batman-Deadpool-Venom knockoff.

Kudos to the team who worked on this too! Good writing, directing and cinematography. CGI did lack in some scenes, but nevertheless it didn't make me lose my curiosity.

But even that couldn’t make this show passage; like other MCU shows this was on par with CW superhero shows. The VFX was bad, that episode with the cupcake truck chase was good awful, marvel isn’t putting money into these shows visual effects. Oscar is a good actor but his stupid British accent took me out of the show and he shouldn’t whinny af. They should have casted an unknown actor instead of recasting actors from other properties. He’s already been in Star Wars and X-men; like give other up and coming actors a chance. All and all, another bad MCU show. Expand

Overall its an interesting show but when you start to get an idea of what going on your thrown another curve ball and before you know it its the series finale. Oscar Isaac does a great job and caries the show for the first few episodes while the foundations of a story build in the background. The plot finds itself about four episodes in, in a six episode series. You start to find this hasn't been planned out well.
I went in knowing nothing about Moon Knight and I come out knowing very little at best. Im not sure what was the main goal of this series. When it comes to Marvel you'd imagine its to introduce a new character to the MCU but I don't see a link here. This seems pretty stand alone.
There's plenty of issues with this but I give credit for trying something different. I think a SEVEN is fair. Its very good but I'm left wanting more and I guess that's a good sign.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While most of the Disney + Marvel series have been mostly boring but harmless, Moon Knight serves as a breath of fresh air. Oscar Isaac kills it in the role, bouncing between Steven Grant and Mark Specter gave the series a lot of variety. The themes of Egyptian mythology gave the show some life and a lot of vivid, unique settings. My only complaint is that most of the characters not named Moon Knight were relatively uninteresting. Out of all the Marvel shows so far, this one is the only one in my eyes that deserves to get a second season. Plus, with Jake Lockley appearing at the end of the season, there's a lot of room to improve the show even more. While I was expecting this show to fall into the same mediocrity like most of the other Marvel series do, I was pleasantly surprised. Expand

First, amazing performance by Oscar Isaac proving once again what great actor he is portraying the problematic Steven Grant and Marc Specter. Unfortunately the CGI isn't always amazing, especially for Moon Knight costumes. The first part of the serie was really interesting and I was really looking forward to see how things would have turned out. Many fight scenes have not great montages (not to mention how the last one is handled), most side characters are badly written or totally lacked presentation, some things that happen on screen do not have sense. Especially the last fight is definitely underwhelming for the way it has been edited and what characters can do for no reason

So, the first three episodes were interesting, after that it was a slow downfall

Oscar Isaac carried the show, along with his costar Oscar Isaac. His phenomenal performance helped offset the somewhat lackluster (until the final episode) fight scenes, which thankfully took a backseat to the far more interesting character work, the psychological thriller elements, the creative interspersing of Egyptian mythology, and a bit of Indiana Jones-esque globetrotting. The soundtrack was also a highlight, as was Ethan Hawke’s role as the creepy but empathetic antagonist Harrow. Unfortunately the real villains here were the rushed pacing and choppy editing in most of the latter episodes. I couldn’t help but wish we had a few more episodes to let the show breathe. I definitely hope we get a second season, ideally one that gives us even more time focused on the psychological aspects of the main character. There’s more I could quibble about (one big item being the fact that the Moon Knight’s actual powers were never clearly defined, making it hard to gauge the actual stakes in the conflict), but overall I think the highs definitely outweigh the lows.
