Often fun and sometimes actually funny, this show struggles to hold my attention for five minutes. Since the kids and ex-husbands have been basically written out of the show, the plots are pretty much about the two lead actresses and a little bit about their 12 step buddies and the fiancé. While both of the leads are decent actresses, having to carry most of the show is tough on the audience’s ability to care about these broken people. Getting way too formula and predictable.

Recent episodes have shown the pairing of Bonnie and Adam is not built on a healthy foundation. Why they are still planning a wedding is beyond me. The pairing of Christie with a new and seemingly unstable sponsor sets up comedic situations but again doesn’t appear that healthy.

The most interesting thing about the show has been the choice of music. Given the crass personalities of the main characters, the classical music used is a bit of a non-sequitur. An interesting choice, but it makes me wonder if it’s a financial decision (saving on royalties) or an artistic choice.

    Addendum:
Renewed for another season (ho-hum), here’s hoping the writers find some novel ways to make this show interesting again and make us care about the characters.
