So while there are some weak episodes in Season 2, they are still enjoyable—and the best episodes this season are even shinier than those of the first. As far as heartwarming storytelling goes, Season 2 of Modern Love is worth a watch from start to finish.

Season 2 of Modern Love is better than the first because Carney has decided to concentrate on more intimate stories, and not try to lean on huge names to get people’s attention.

Exceptionally well-cast and admirably diverse series. ... I hated running out of new episodes. More, please. [16-29 Aug 2021, p.4]

Modern Love isn’t much like modern love and your appetite for the series will depend on whether you find this Teflon-smooth view of human connection a balm for angry times, or straightforwardly dull. Personally, I crave more spice with all the sugar.

It needs to drop its kooky mannerisms, perhaps be less hung up on A-list performers, and be brave enough to spend 30 minutes saying something pure with its whole chest. Until then, the search goes on.

There are some pleasing moments throughout the eight episodes, and one or two half-hours that satisfy. ... but most of the episodes blur together into blandness, with ordinary premises given unremarkable treatment.
-
Contrived situations, underwritten characters, and a lack of chemistry between many of these romantic pairings mean that “Modern Love” often drags.
-
This latest season of “Modern Love” leaves its actors stranded in a barren wasteland bereft of anything remotely true.
