    While it's obvious that Merlin is firmly in the "family oriented" department, it never seems to hinder my enjoyment of the show. It's difficult to find a fantasy or sci-fi series these days that doesn't get ripped apart by critics or canceled due to ratings without ever having a fair shake. If you like epic fantasy, dragons, or swords & sorcery, you'll probably find at least a littleWhile it's obvious that Merlin is firmly in the "family oriented" department, it never seems to hinder my enjoyment of the show.     I love Merlin, all seasons were amazing, but i think season 3 was the best. Morgana evilness made this season very dark! I hated Morgana in good way. Looking forward to season 4! and Good job writers and actors/actress! Fantastic job. =) 10/10.

    What is so disappointing about this series is that we know the Myths of Camelot are an oral tradition spoken from the side of the victor, to describe the patriarchal take-over of matriarchal culture prior to the Roman Empire and this series pays no homage to this at all. It stays within the narrow constructs of men vs women where the men are kings and warlocks and the women are evil witches. There is no balance in story-telling between the old ways of paganism and earth worship with the new ways of patrilineal monarchy. In short, it is genderized and polarized. Unfortunately, it is entertaining enough for young people to watch and have their minds bent toward a 'goodies' and 'badies' version of cultural genocide where the so-called 'goodies' are the perpetrators of violence and warfare.… Expand

    Show has really come into its own, it's awesome. It's not gritty and is family friendly (aside from the wounds, fighting, magical explosions and intense scenes regarding betrayal and death), but I feel it sticks to the legends pretty well and has moments that are just incredibly moving.

    not every series can tread on it's familiar grounds and get away with it. But season 3 of merlin does and get's away with it, because it's such a charming show. Despite most episodes being a re-make of season 1and 2, i still enjoyed it alot. The characters are so believeable you can't help but fall in love with them.     The Merlin series has matured well with more complex stories and a general avoidance of soap opera story telling. I really like the humor and close Arthur and Merlin friendship/bromance.

    Merlin is a really entertaining show, However, i would suggest that you don'y buy this on DVD as getting into the story is a waste of time, the ending is so bad you will just be really annoyed.

    This show just goes from strength to strength - yet more character development, relationship development and a complex villain make for fun viewing. The violence has finally stopped being censored, making the experience more genuine.

Season 3 starts with a bang and then settles down during the middle and then ends with one of the best endings to any season of a show i have ever seen. What happened this season- Morgana is found, Morgana and Morgose make Uther go crazy so Cenred could attack Camelot. A goblin posseses Gaius. Gwaine helps Arthur and Merlin. Merlin sees the future. Arthur frees Gwens brother, Arthur retrieves the trident from the Fisher King. Morgana has a dream when Gwen is the queen of Camelot, Merlin and Arthur fail to retrieve the cup of life. The immortal army attacks Camelot. Morgana is crowned queen for being Uther Pendragons daughter. Merlin destroys the cup of life, the knights of Camelot take bac the kingdom. Overall it was a great season, but season 2 was better.… Expand

    The series' tone has gotten a little grim over time, but there's still sudsy fun in its Xena-style fantasy mayhem (giant scorpions! evil witches!) and the leads' high-camp banter.
