You may groan at the premise -- a young woman helps the police solve crimes through use of her psychic intuition -- but it's brought off with so much storytelling skill and so few voguish gimmicks that it might as well be the first show of its kind. [3 Jan 2005]

Elegantly filmed, Medium is quite eerie when it stays within the chilly purview of its star.

NBC's arresting Medium, debuting Monday, exploits a creepy premise for a few good shocks. What's more surprising is that the drama excels at tongue-in-cheek humor. [2 Jan 2005]

'Medium' is manipulative filmmaking, but it works. [2 Jan 2005]

Within the context of an overly familiar, murder-saturated genre, talented "Medium" creator Glenn Gordon Caron ("Moonlighting") manages to find some emotionally rich variations on the formula, assisted by Patricia Arquette's appealing performance as a suburban, crime-solving mom who sees dead people. We expect sharp writing from Caron. "Medium" is almost too glib at times. What makes the suspension of disbelief easy is the casting. [3 Jan 2005]

Medium is well-made, slick and, at times, achieves a sense of the macabre. [4 Jan 2005]

As silly as [it] sounds, the series is actually pretty good.

The Medium pilot isn't as consistently stylish as Mr. Caron's other work, and some of the action strains credibility in scenes that have nothing to do with the supernatural. [3 Jan 2005]

The real problem for "Medium" is that the whole thing plays much creepier than necessary. [3 Jan 2005]

Though Allison is potentially worth watching as both a medium and a mother of three, someone needs to conjure up a stronger supporting cast if this show is to hold our interest.

This was a fun show to watch when it came out, I've really enjoyed rewatching all the old episodes
