I completely disagree with some of the reviews on this show. First of all, I don't see it as a Variety show. This is a sketch comedy show similar to SNL which is obvious as its produced by Lorne Michaels. That however is where the similarities end though, as this show is genuinely funny and smartly written. This is the show that the extremely (overly) politicized SNL as of late, should be.I completely disagree with some of the reviews on this show. First of all, I don't see it as a Variety show. To be fair, it seems like an odd pairing hit there is a nice chemistry between Maya and Marty and it especially shines through at the end of the show which always closes with a song between the two. Give it an honest shot, you might be pleasantly surprised. Expand

In its first at bat, Maya and Marty felt forced and uneven.

The end result was often a lot of bombast and noise but not too many laughs. Maya and Marty, in many ways, is a ham sandwich with an extra helping of ham.

Maya & Marty feels like reheated leftovers rather than something that could demand popular attention every week.
