After an uneven third season, Masters of Sex ends strong with season 4. I dislike when networks cancel long-running series after a season has been filmed rather than before, to allow the writers to wrap things up well, but despite the fact that Showtime didn't announce the cancellation of MoS until after the finale aired, the last few episodes did a good job of wrapping up story lines and concluding the most interesting chapters in the personal and professional lives of the two lead characters. The addition of two new clinicians to the practice in season 4 added a great spark and the overall pacing felt much better. Season 1 remains the high point for the series but season 4 at least returned to the very high quality of season 2. Definitely worth watching! Expand

A very uneven season. Seems like they were trying to rush the timeline. Could have spent a season in the 70's would have helped series. I guess people who followed this as it was being released got bored somewhere around S2-S3 and never gave S4 a chance, otherwise I don't see how they could rate it as anything less than a comeback, a return to former glory.

There is an old axiom that says you should not confuse sex with love. The fourth season of Masters of Sex lands squarely and entertainingly right in the middle of that potential mess.

Watching Masters plod around in despair, while Johnson rejects his attentions, doesn't feel suspenseful, since we know at some point these two are going to tie the knot. By this point, it's hard to care about their relationship, or the fate of their sex-research clinic.

This is the most entertaining the show has been in quite some time, but for reasons most would never have predicted. Like just about everyone in this episode, Masters of Sex has finally been liberated.
