this show has turned me into a huge Aziz fan. The series has so much heart and so many thought provoking themes that I found it quite easy to be moved by the content here. Its pretty damn funny too and in between the jokes and awkward scenarios there are some real life lessons that have been carefully woven in. A real triumph and i won't be surprised if Ansari gets another Emmy nod this season

I really enjoyed the first season, it was fresh and recognisable. Although the characters are likeable, the show got boring. The Italian scenes are very stereotypical (kid in wifebeater shirt, you don't have to lock your bike, everyone eats pasta all day). The acting of his parents is painful to watch and the jokes aren't that funny. The show turned from awesome to meh.

I absolutely loved the first season. And the second season really didn't disappoint. It was beautifully done and very creative. And I'm hoping for more from Aziz Ansari in the near future.

Once again, Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang have created a poignant, warm, intelligent, creative, hilarious, moving and important portrayal of New York (and, to some extent, Italy) through the eyes of a person of colour. Some people have criticised the jokes, to which the only thing I can say it's their sense of humour and it's a shame this doesn't appeal to them. However, to those that complain that they are having social commentary shoved down their throat, I say that this is just an accurate account of what it's like not being white in that city. Race often plays a part in conversations. Nobody is given a label as "racist" or "dick", every character is fully-rounded, realistic and not judged by the writers, which helps the audience to believe every scenario without feeling patronised.
What is also commendable are the various and creative techniques that the writers tell stories. I won't spoil any, but they have taken some unconventional risks that have payed off spectacularly. I cannot wait to see what I duo does next, but I can only hope it is even half as special as this.

Season 1 of this series and only the first episode of season 2 were superb. I think season 2 story can be told in at most 2 episodes and it has lots of fillers. The love between beauty and the beast was very unconvincing. As I said earlier if the set was totally in italy, It would have made more sense. Full of emptiness, in summary.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Despite a strong start this season, in my opinion S2 just wasn't as memorable, lovable or endearing as the first season. First of all, it lacked cohesion. Nowhere was this more evident than 'New York, I Love You', a great episode it itself, it just didn't work with the season's arc. For me though, the biggest problem with this season was the relationship between Dev and Francesca. The two had wonderful platonic chemistry, but when things started to get more emotional, it lost me. In fact, it was cringe worthy at time. I just couldn't buy it. Dev and Rachel worked, and I totally bought them as a couple. Dev and Francesca was a stretch of the imagination. Expand

This series is a masterpiece. It evokes such sentimental emotions, hysterical and relatable laughter at the right times, and an existential crisis spawning from a longing to find deep human connections in a cluttered world.

I can't really put it all into words. It's just beautiful. Aziz Ansari is a genius. Watch it.

For my money the best thing about streaming platforms like Netflix is that more unconventional TV programmes can be created and given a chance without the constant worry about ratings, and Master of None is a perfect example of this.

Each episode varies greatly in tone and length with the main star even virtually absent for a couple of episodes. Is it always 100% successful? Probably

I enjoyed the season more than the first. I appreciated that the melodramatic love story aspects were kept to a minimum. In fact, my favorite two episodes were creative breaks from the main plot. If nothing else, watch the Thanksgiving episode - perfection.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What can you said about Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang other than they've created another masterpiece? Master of None Season 2 is every bit as good as season one, and in my opinion, is better in some areas. Writing, casting, and acting are spot on. We see serious life struggles mixed with amazing comedic situations. Episode 4 (the tinder one) had me laughing from start to finish. A lot of the struggles Dev has are things that, given it being a TV show, seemed like a very real part of an adult's life. It dealt with legitimate existential crises, such as struggling with religion in family, in ways that I expect play out in reality. When I watch Master of None, it always brings me back to Garden State. I feel like this is is the TV version of struggles dealt with by Zach Braff in GS. I really don't have a bad thing to say about this show. As a mid/late 20s person, I felt connected to this show on a deeper level. That's more than I can say about most of the things I'm currently watching. Expand

It was a good season, not great, but definitely good. It felt more serious than the first season with most of the comedy coming from Aziz's wit and one liners. That wasn't a bad thing for me, but someone looking to for a comedy series that is non-stop laughs won't find it here.

Master of None is one of the freshest and most imaginative TV shows out there. It's incredibly creative and willing to take risks to portray its episodes in a different way. It's a fantastically realistic view of modern life and subverts the typical cliches.

I don't get the critic ratings. The show is dry, and the jokes fall flat. I didn't particularly enjoy season 1 mostly because the acting was absolutely horrible and it seems to plague season 2 as well. Starting off in Italy and showing the sights and foods was brilliant but once again it's undermined by terrible acting from mostly everyone apart from Aziz ( who plays himself). Not an Aziz Ansari fan by any stretch. But he really tones it down in this show and thank God there are fewer sex scenes in season 2 featuring his naked little body. What could have been trite attempts to be different: black and white, Jarmusch-esque wandering voyeurism, etc. actually work. They're playful and funny and free and poignant. Ansari stepping aside to let the cast, and even one-offs, have the spotlight was also a wise choice. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY including the one-offs, brings their A+ game to the show too. I'm sad to already have binged my way through the season, but after I take a little break I think I'm going to get a second dose of super-hot Francesca. I'm giving this a 9 only because I'm holding out the 10 as a carrot on a stick for season 3 to be even better. Expand

This is a deeply thought out meditation on the themes of modern life in a big city, its portayals of the little victories, losses and humour that keeps everyone getting up everyday and reaching for something better, happier, more successful or authentic. The real magic is how it shows that through dozens of disparate characters. Each character feels lived in. Actors are killing it here.
