After four episodes this is mostly boring backstory, juxtaposed with a shocking laissez fair attitude towards magic, super powers, and super tech. While it may get better, I doubt it will be worth watching in anything less than a total binge with heavy use of fast forward.

season two has more action than the first, which story line is build slow, It's great to see that the writers really focused on the development of the character in the new season, especially on the kids dynamics

In spite of the Marvel connection, the feel was more teen drama than fantasy, which made more sense once I learned it was from the people who did the OC.

Fans of that show, I take it, are the target audience, rather than people who want an exciting action/fantasy series like Legion or The Gifted. If you want some teen drama threaded with a superhero theme, you're welcome to it, but I certainly won't watch any more of this tedious thing.

It was supposed to be a short series about teenagers in the world of Marvel Universe, and it rather came out to be great tv series. Better production than what CW presents from DC. The comic book world is of course not realistically like in the case of Netflix production and suffers from lack of scenography or special effects, but as a drama teen it works great.

This show starts terribly slow and it doesn't add anything to its awful character development . It is an absolute torture to watch first season .

This has to be the worst Marvel brand show I have watched. Even worse than Shield and Agent Carter...I Found myself rooting for the bad guy. Hoping he sacrificed the whiny teen garbage they have acting in this junk. This thing is the exact same show every episode. Really just goes nowhere. The main cast is so annoying that I rather watch paint dry.

The first 3 episodes, if anything, show you that show is handled very well, but it does start a little slow. The cast is spot on, the teen drama is handled very maturely, the new side plot on the Pride is actually very interesting, but some action wouldn't hurt, specially since they are being true to the characters and the comic.

The story goes NOWHERE even after the first 3 hours of the show. We still don't know a tiny bit about what's going on. There are ONLY the dialogues and they're bad. Drama is artificial. Kids are cliched stereotypes, including Asian, Black, Jock, Feminist, Pretty blonde bimbo etc... etc... etc.. Black dude is ex-gangster, genius white guy is cruel father while white woman is religious cult leader. The thing is... they're just stereotypes, without any meaning to their origins too... And it's not like we have Asian, because tv show tried to give us some insight about Asian culture or something... She's just Asian because she looks like it with eyes smaller than Europeans. She's there to just make it check. "Ok, so do we have everyone? Black? checked... Asian checked... white? checked"

And I don't know what to write about story, because, as I said above, after 3 and a half an hour I watched, there's really isn't any of it

Great teen-adventure-weird drama. It plays things safe in some things, but then it gets weird in a good way. The characters are relatable and there is a lot of mistery going on. Very packed TV show. So fas so good.

I am a huge fan of the source material, so my expectations were pretty high up there for this one. Thus far, it has been a solid B for me.
    Pros:
    faithfulness to the story-line
    reasonable deviations where necessary
    visual quality
    Cons:
too much focus on parents for my taste
some iffy choices (Molly up-aged, Chase not being the 'dumb guy', Gert's crush immediately obvious, etc)
    too serious

Like for instance when it shows a rape attempt, in a superficial manner, only for the two main characters to get together, and then later on we see the perpetrators in a different light, and, surprise, they were actually kinda nice. Or the guy who beats his wife and small kid in a regular basis, but then again it was just a nice guy who was too stressed out. Or the group of parents who happened to kill over 15 teenagers, but in the end they were just trying to do what was best for their own kids. It's not a problem to bring about matters such as rape or domestic violence in a show for teenagers, the problem is the writers have no sense of anything whatsoever, and do it in a way that's unacceptable. (3 points for the special effects, also horrible, but lovely horrible) Expand

It's quite an interesting concept from marvel. At the first few episodes it's boring and have to bear with it, in order to catch up. But tension is there in each episode after the serial invests 2-3 hours of screen time in each character, and you can sympathize with them. Not the best visual effects and not the greatest directory cut, but it's a decent enough series to hold it's ground. It's quite an interesting concept from marvel. A spot on retelling of the amazing Brian K. Vaughn comic so far. The cast is pitch perfect and the focus is on relationships rather than action, which is where it should be. Excited to view beyond the first three episodes...

I watched this up until the 7th episode when it became obvious that we were in for the same exact thing show after show: The interesting super power elements take a back seat to a soap opera of kids who alternately love/hate their parents and trust/distrust each other. This series is about rich kids that discovers the the bad truth about their parents. This series is the best Marvel drama series till now. This series has a little taste of Stranger things. The story is a little bit slow, but gives enough excitement so you can't wait to the next episode.

Great series. Im a huge fan of the source material and I was really worried that the show wouldnt capture that same magic. Glad to be wrong, although a little slow it is setting everything up perfectly for the next season. I was also worried about some of the changes they were making/adding and it all worked out really well. Cant wait for Season 2. For anyone that enjoyed this series IGreat series. A great comic made safe to the point where there's no tension or story. It's too bad, really, since there are such great actors, but the premise was neutered for television.

Argh, Marvels Runaways was obviously written by a lesbian with wish fulfillment. Purple haired one is her as she is. Interested in the most attractive/popular guy in high school. Who obviously she gets. He’s interested in her for what reason again?

The attractive blonde is who she’d like to be. Turning away everyone, while any guy or girl who she kisses is madly in love with her

The attractive blonde is who she’d like to be. Turning away everyone, while any guy or girl who she kisses is madly in love with her immediately. Good grief. Can you just tell a story about heroes, powers, and villains. Without making everything about your awkward high school and college phases. None of us care, most of us don’t relate, and it’s definitely not entertaining.

About the only redeeming part of the show is the music and some of the actors. But it is slow and ploting. In the time it takes them to build for the season 1 finish you could have done so much more. The characters motives are all over the place. There is no clarity to their decision making. Its just bad.

A masterful step up from the first season. The first season worked as a prologue so the second could be filled with intricate relationships, humor, and heart. The show might falter slightly in the middle, but it soon picks up with a final couple of episodes that leaves the viewer gut-wrenched and wanting more. Can't wait for it to be renewed for a third season.

Runaways could be great if it dug into the question of whether it’s possible to be a bad person and a good parent, a different take on leading a double life than is standard in superhero fare. But this first part of the season, at least, doesn’t seize that opportunity to stand out. Like most teenagers, Runaways just wants to fit in.

The series attempts to transpose ordinary pubescent strife onto an extraordinary framework, using relatable teen struggles to temper the plot's absurdity. But the resulting incongruity, between the magnitude of the teens' discovery and the playfulness of their subsequent detective work, leaves us waiting for these young people to realistically process what they've witnessed.

It’s off to an incredibly compelling start, thanks to Schwartz and Strange’s confident storytelling, and should it keep moving forward at its current pace, it could become a truly addictive hit. As it is, it’s one of Marvel’s most promising series to date.
