    Absolute slop. What happened? No clear antagonist, terribly boring writing, everyone is unlikeable. Season 1 was really good, this is unbearable.

    With nothing else to watch and a full season available, I figured I would put it in the background while I worked. Its literally unwatchable even as background chatter. Well, except for the mothers who did a great job but everyone else is just terrible. Terrible acting, terrible writing, worse directing and just plain garbage. Its just an animal instinct emotional mess. The entire show can be summarized as such:

    "Oh no woo is me... my life is horrible."
    "No I am even more pathetic... woo is me."
    "Wait... look at me, I am so down on my luck. Woo is me!"

    Now repeat that x the number of character in the show. All of them put together could not muster a single firing neuron... its just a emotional slop fest. That said, the actor for the mom deserves much better. Hopefully this show didn't kill her career like it probably will for all the others.    … Expand

The motivations of the characters change on a whim, and the writers seem to go out of their way to make everything 'dark' and nasty. Almost all of the characters are unlikeable, but the worst one is Jessica's mother, and the entire season is about her. I don't even know why I give Netflix Marvel a chance anymore.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If I had one word to describe season 2 of Jessica Jones, it would be "contrived". The season itself isn't unwatchable, it's more completely frustrating. Character interactions and relationships don't feel genuine; and in a lot of cases, feel forced. Jessica Jones is a character that has numerous character flaws, which is part of her appeal. However, she becomes extremely irritating when she continuously imposes upon the rest of the world, that she is the queen of deciding what's moral and ethical. She is in fact, a huge hypocrite. Throughout both seasons, it's been a theme that she treats everyone that she meets like a 10 day old **** stain. However, they clean these messy interactions and turn these early antagonists into allies by her having sex with them. It is then, like they never at any point felt any animosity between each other. Her super power is supposed to be super strength, but I'd argue it's the magical social healing powers of her vagina. Based on how they use sex in this show, if she screwed the world, we would have achieved everlasting world peace. Her character is all over the place, she almost feels like she's bipolar or a manic depressive; and these swings in her mood and attitude are too much to handle. it's absolutely nauseating. She whines about IGH, the company that gave her her super powers, because they didn't give her a "choice" in trying to save her. Yet when you meet the doctor in charge, he's anything but evil. Yet they continue to try and shove this down your throat. He was all about healing. Was he a criminal? Sure he was, his experiments were illegal. Yet being a criminal doesn't make you a bad person. Jessica Jones, is in fact a criminal, and breaks numerous laws in every episode of the show; yet she's a hero. The doctor's goals were to test his theories on people, who were clinically dead, in order to see if his gene editing techniques could heal these people and bring them back to life. The side effects of these experiments was super strength (which we learn the side effects are determined by their pre-existing genes) and mood swings. We learn from a character that knew Jessica before the accident, that Jessica always had a volatile attitude, they were always miserable, and they were always anti-social. Jessica wasn't as damaged as the other patient, who also got super strength, but we're led to believe that her mood swings and irritability were amplified by the procedure. This patient was thankful to the doctor for the second chance he gave her, and the work he did to help her re-acclimate to the world by treating to help get these mood swings and rage under control. They actually wind up getting married. I'm trying to avoid too many spoilers, but Jessica re-uniting with the other patient shows just how unsavory Jessica Jones actually is. Jessica was not happy to re-unite with someone she was longing for since the very beginning of the series, but she wanted it on her terms; much like how she treats all her relationships. It's always her way, or the highway. NOw her best friend Trish, it comes out that she's jealous of Jessica's super powers. So she seeks the doctor to try to gain these powers. He tells her the procedure could be fatal, but that he trusts the procedure will succeed. Jessica finds out, crashes the procedure in the middle of it. The doctor tells her, Trish could die if she doesn't allow him to finish. Jessica doesn't care. She tears the equipment apart, and has to hold herself back from bashing the good doctor into a bloody pulp. So Jessica, while constantly complaining he never gave her a choice, denies Trish her choice and is willing to kill Trish because she didn't was exercising a choice that Jessica didn't agree with. What's worse, she acts like this is the doctor's fault, Trish kidnapped him so he would do this procedure. He was not advertising or forcing these treatments on new patients. So, after Jessica pulls back from the idea of murdering the good doctor, he grabs Trish's gun and aims it at explosive canisters, states he miraculously has changed his view on his life's work, and tells Jessica to grab Trish and get far away because he's going to destroy his work. So he blows himself and the lab up. Really?!? This is how irrational the whole season was. It's so disappointing, cause season 1 was really good; and then we get this abortion of a season. I guess that's why it's getting favorable critic scores...because it has two things that mainstream media loves: 1.) GIrl Power; and 2.) Abortions (figuratively, not literally). It has no structure, dialog is grating, a boring story, and relationships feel completely forced. All these should matter more than politically charged themes within the plot, when conducting a review or creating content. They better get it together when they put out season 3 in another 2 to 3 years.… Expand

I was looking forward to Simpson being the next villain of the series which didn't happen, in fact, he was removed from it. Season 2 plays out at a much slower pace with heavier dialogue and less compelling newReally enjoyed the first season of Jessica Jones. The main characters were compelling. Nothing happening, just emotional talk non stop, not even a villain in season 2, you just keep watching women talk about their emotions. Jesus Christ. This was supposed to be a superhero show, not Oprah. Avoid the second season entirely, dont waste your time on this.     I and my teen aged son are 4 episodes in and it is just bad. It is a complete SJW job from the word go. One other reviewer has made comment that it is nice that it was made so heavily by women but it is worse than that. This series, much like Cage and Iron Fist, are just flat out made by SJWs FOR SJWs. I am honestly questioning if I will bother watching the rest of the series as I amI and my teen aged son are 4 episodes in and it is just bad. It is a complete SJW job from the word go. One thing it is painfully missing is an, all pun intended, good villain. This is where the first season shined. Kilgrave was a villain who's powers we haven't seen before, his backstory was explained, and he was just kick ass all around. There is just no one to take Kilgraves place this season. Instead the villain seems to be Jessica's inner demon's and family strife. Which sorry to say doesn't keep someone looking for super powered battles satisfied. Another thing i didn't like is what the writers did with characters like Hogarth, Malcolm, and Trish. They just made each one of them desperate for something and they chase after it the whole season. Hogarth with her life/health, Malcolm with Jessica's approval and Trish's love, and Trish being super desperate for powers. It just got old really fast for me. I could go into more detail but instead i'll just leave it at this. Season two seems more like a soap opera than a super hero show and it is a waste of precious hours. Netflix and Marvel need to come back with something good fast because from my perspective I haven't seen anything worth watching since 'Luke Cage' Iron Fist was a flop, The Defenders was a flop, The Punisher was a flop, and you can add this to the list.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How could they possibly mess this up this bad. I gave the first season 10 out of 10; but this second season gets 0 from me. They did not even try. I have to say the side-story about ALS was quite good, but that is the only thing. I liked that in the first season, JJ's superpowers are kind of just implied, there are very little of actual special effects. But it is made clear that she has those powers, and that she has some ability to fly and so on. In the second season, they completely forgot she could do that.

    The main antagonist is a completely boring character and the whole story arc with that could have ended after 3 to 4 episodes. It would have been cool to see JJ meeting her mom, fighting a bit, but then getting to terms with her and sending her to south america or something. And then they should have introduced a real villain, something unexpected. Killgrave from the first season was perfect, terrifying. Of course they could not just copy/paste such a character or bring him back to life. But they could have found someone equally scarry and I would say an intelligent villain would be much more so than one that is simply very strong.

    Probably the worst thing about the show was Trish Walker, she just like her mom in the show are completely crazy annoying people. And it makes absolutely zero sense that JJ's did not immediately kill Trish after she shot her mother for no reason whatsoever other than just wanting to kill someone.    … Expand

    Wow... What went wrong? Season one of JJ was probably the best of the Netflix MCU, but season 2 might be the worst. The show starts off incredibly slow, pretty much nothing happens... then it keeps that pace. I literally fell asleep about 6 times while trying to watch this show because it was that boring. I was excited for this more than any other Netflix MCU show after the first season,Wow... What went wrong? Season one of JJ was probably the best of the Netflix MCU, but season 2 might be the worst. The show starts off incredibly slow, pretty much nothing happens... then it keeps that pace. I literally fell asleep about 6 times while trying to watch this show because it was that boring. I was excited for this more than any other Netflix MCU show after the first season, but damn was I disappointed.     No wonder they didn't show much of it in a trailer,it was seriously horrendous.
    Basically a family drama with some superhero elements too it.
    I feel like I bought a wrongly advertised product,I feel cheated,this was so cheesy and bad. When the best part of the superhero show is a powerless rich lawyer fighting ALS,something's very wrong with the show. I like where they went with Hogart    No wonder they didn't show much of it in a trailer,it was seriously horrendous.
    Basically a family drama with some superhero elements too it.

    The only nice thing about season 2 was Jessica's mother. She was like an Anti-hero, she did everything just to protect her family.

    While the entire show was ruined by Rachael Taylor's Trish Walker. Season 1 involved a troubled woman confronting her own demons and past to deal with a current threat. It took strength and courage. She rises to the occasion and ends victorious. Season 2 almost tries to replicate theI really enjoyed the first season of this show and was looking forward to season 2... Then I watched it. I think it's safe to say the tone of the show has changed noticeably. Season 1 involved a troubled woman confronting her own demons and past to deal with a current threat. It took strength and courage. She rises to the occasion and ends victorious. That is exactly what happened in all of season 2.

    The message was clear from the first episode and then hammered home ad nauseam: All white males are bad. White women are better than everyone (even when they are mass murderers). White women should only have sex with non-White males. Every other female is a raging homosexual.

    Now that may sound harsh but it is easily verified by forcing yourself to watch this train wreck of leftist insanity in the guise of a superhero show all the way through. You could drunk easily off of making it a drinking game to take a shot every-time leftist/feminist propaganda pops on screen (Warning you will end up drinking more than Jessica).

    The actors gave solid performances but they are all forced to read stilted dialogue and spout lines that sound like the fanfic of your typical sexist, racist, bigoted feminist/leftist. You know the one that tells you that racism and sexism against White males doesn't "count" as racism or sexism right before they go set fire to a building or hit you in the face with a bike lock because they don't think anyone who disagrees with them should have rights.

    The second saddest thing is it could have been a great season but the (all female look it up) directors and (leftist/feminist) writers decided your time should be wasted on their propaganda and that you don't deserve to be entertained by good writing.

    The saddest thing is the overt and not so covert sexism, racism, and bigotry portrayed constantly through out the season.    … Expand

    Just wasted 30 mins on the first episode and found myself longing for the quality of acting/writing from a daytime soap opera. This show has taken a turn for the worse with showrunner Melissa Rosenberg asleep at the wheel. Do not waste your time on this!

Even Agents of SHIELD had a better use of the "missing parent coming back as the bad guy" trope... and it did it TWICE! Hey, I'm a fan, and I can sit through 13 episodes of this, but I found myself distracted by my phone and having to backtrack the episode. It simply wasn't engaging, finishing it up felt like a chore.

    It's seems the makers of the series forgot this is a superhero show, Jessica Jones has no idea of what it wants to be as a show. Sure, tackle all the issues you want, but never forget what people are here for. Character studies and ABC-like drama can be found in other shows, and no one looking for that kind of entertainment will look for it in a Marvel production. Your protagonist is a raging alcoholic with super strength and the ability to kind of fly, why waste that?
    Good job forgetting Jessica had limited flying powers AGAIN, by the way, at least in Smallville people had Clark's inexperience to blame for his lack of using all of his powers.

    Ritter is still a good actress, unfortunately her character is still unlikeable, even if it's entertaining to watch JJ mess up, she still ends up boring me with her inconsistency in her choices regarding the characters of the story. One moment she hates her mother, the next she goes against every moral fiber in her body to aid her, even after the mother crosses multiple lines. Adding that to the already hard to love characterization of Jones as crass, foul and hostile and it one feel that after her show's first season and all of Defenders, she should be in another place, emotionally speaking.

    I am absolutely convinced that if Iron Fist had these flaws people would've been THAT much more critical of it. However, since this is Jessica Jones, a show about a powered woman -and opening on Women's Day, no less- she probably gets a pass from critics, who I can see are showering the season with praise.

    The most thrilling part of the story for me was watching Trish Walker's evolution into her powered alter ego from the comics: Hellcat. Still, the series only manages to give us the briefest glimpse of a promise of her future role in the last few moments of the show. The most touching part of the season for me was definitely Carrie-Anne Moss' character, who by the way delivers the best performance of the entire cast, as her character goes in a roller coast of emotion, facing her own mortality, inevitability, goes through a deep breakdown involving satisfactory revenge and emerges on top, though still with an uncertain future.

    Overall, a if you had to define this Season with one word, it would be BORING. Jessica Jones Season 2 ranks as my least favorite season of all of Netflix's Marvel shows.    … Expand

    What a waste of a second season. The writing really let the series and the actors down.
    Horribly written dialogue. Incredibly weak character arcs. Clunky, and often just plain silly, plot devices.

    The journey into Jessica’s past feels like familiar territory, making the show seem less urgent and less captivating than it previously did. The back end of these 13 episodes is much more exciting and also a lot weirder (in a great way) than the first half.

    Once the opening hour catches us up on Jessica’s past and sets the stage for the new season, there are some good things here. We see more of the friendship between Jessica and Trish, and that’s good because female pals are still a TV rarity. ... The best moments of the new season are any scene that features the wonderful Janet McTeer as a mysterious new character.
