It's the most underrated show. It's really good. Almost like Daredevil. I don't understand how it's possible. There are a lot of good actors, some of them even from other Marvel shows. It's good iconic story about written character and good action scenes. It has to have 7/10, ok even 6 but not 3.

I had my doubts but this was a much stronger season in my opinion. I think there are a few episodes particularly in the first half of the season which feel padded or unnecessary but it picks up quite a bit towards the end and actually became a lot of fun.

I thought Walker was a good addition and I think Misty worked really well in this season as well. Joy and Ward were both fantastic, especially Ward. Also Jessica Henwick as Colleen really stole the show. Providing excellent fight choreography and a convincing performance she's one of the best things this show has going for it.
Unfortunately Danny is still kind of bland so I was happy to see Colleen taking a bigger role. Also the villain, steel serpent, felt a bit cliched and dull. All in all i'm glad I watched it and i'm optimistic for the future of the show but without a better leading man and villain or perhaps some better writing it'll continue to trail behind daredevil.

I'm not sure why this TV show got so much criticism and hate as I truly believe it is the best Marvel series on Netflix to date. Whereas with Jessica Jones or Luke Cage I thought were too slow to start and took several episodes before you were fully engrossed with Iron Fist I was hooked from the beginning.

I think this show has a lot to do with how much you can identify with the characters in it, as do most shows. Perhaps the critical reception of this show has something to do with it not having universal appeal. I recommend giving it a chance and seeing it without an eye towards whether the main character should be asian, but take it at face value. A white guy can go to Asia and learn something. At least this white guy isn't saving Asia (Matt Damon), isn't the Last Samurai (Tom Cruise), or isn't The Last Mohican (Daniel Day Louis).

*****Edit: I just wrote this in response to this article: https://screenrant.com/marvel-iron-fist-better-luke-cage-season-2 - It isn't my best writing but gets the idea across****

    Hey Tom ,

There actually isn't a precedent in Buddhism or in my experience as a graduate from Naropa's Religious Studies Department or as a yogi/meditator towards resolution of one's psychological issues. Mind reflects environment. A cave may provide a still mind, however upon engaging with things that trigger one's patterns, one's patterns come up. We tend to identify with our patterns. Danny as portrayed in the show is fairly accurate to how someone in his position would act. Those conflicts would be pretty natural.

One cannot clear oneself psychologically. Psychological growth is an endless thing. Just as the contents of mind are endless.

I feel particularly able to validate their portrayal of Danny as a whiteman who pursued eastern ways coming from a wealthy family where my father was a captain of his industry. I haven't seen a more accurate portrayal of how I was at that age.

However, I don't think it would be easy for most people to know these things since most people haven't trained like Danny and come from that background so it is easy to say, wtf.

I just wanted to chime in because his character is accurate.

The story itself is okay, it seems to come down to story preference for me that I give the show a 7. I just find this one a little cornier than say Daredevil and Jessica Jones. That's why my favorite scenes are when the Iron Fist isn't mentioned for the 100th + time and it cuts back to Ward and Harold.

This is a really good show , A short one but fits the entire back story of the Iron Fist. The show has some twists and turns , but in the end the ending turned out to be cliche. If season 2 starts to make the series more interesting story wise I might consider a 10/10!

Jean Claude Van Damme's earlier films had more exciting choreography than Iron Fist. That is not to say the martial arts here isn't fun to watch, it's just that it should be much more compelling.

Danny Rand himself is fine, but the supporting cast of characters of Ward, Joy, and Harold are fantastic. Ward especially won me over as the season went on. The acting all around is very good and saves the show in my opinion. Lots of laughs too. Iron Fist started off kind of goofy but became darker as it went on, which I welcomed.

There is plenty of room for Iron Fist to grow. The fight scenes need improvement, and the story could explore more themes of substance. They certainly have a great cast to pull all this off.

Maybe it's because I was expecting the worst after reading some of the 'professional' reviews, but this was pretty decent. Not great, but better than average.

I thought the main actor was a miss-cast. Most of the time his acting is ok, but at certain times when he was acting enraged or sad, it just felt off. It could also be due to the director's instructions, but it didn't look good.

Which goes for the fight scenes as well, you could sometimes see an attacker go slowly in their offense to give time for the heroes to react to them. I know the fighting is fake, but I don't want to 'see' that it is.

Story wise I thought this first season was solid. I didn't get bored with the villains or the storyline, and thought most of the actors did a pretty good job portraying it.

It's obviously not as good as Daredevil, which no other Netflix Marvel series has been able to reach to be honest, but it certainly isn't as bad as Jessica Jones. So yeah, it's above average: a 7.

There are some good performances and I enjoyed the continuity from previous entries in the Netflix Marvel universe. Compared to Luke Cage, it has a similar rate of plot development (aka slow), and gives good insight into lack of morality in the corporate world, in the same way that Luke Cage gives insight into the African-American community in Harlem. Analyzing the show on its own, it has good fight scenes, especially given the fact that the actor had to do it instead of a stunt double (since he's not a masked hero). The show gives the main character a good moral compass, and gives a unique story of how he accustoms himself to the modern world and to certain human emotions which he was forbidden from expressing, mainly love. I think most critics bashed this show because they want to see less white leads, even though the majority of the U.S. is white. Unlike critics, I see the good in shows, and this show has a lot of it. Some fights had lots of cuts, but I can't really complain about it as much as other people, because I could still understand what was happening and enjoy it. When you complain about the lots of cuts you have to first remember that Finn Jones isn't a true martial arts master, and he had very little training, and since he doesn't use a suit yet, many times the cuts are necessary to provide the feel that he knows how to fight. The fights may improve overtime as he gets more trained or, even better, when he get his suit. Either way, I don't really thought the fights were as bad people said it to be. Maybe it was because of the outrage prior to it starting because the main character wasn't played by an Asian. Maybe it's because the Marvel canon seems to get so huge and remain so good that they felt the need to knock them down a bit. But it sure wasn't based on the actual quality of this show and in all actuality, this is just as entertaining as the other three Marvel/Netflix ventures. I felt that all of the characters on this show had interesting story lines; and as much as they revolved around the Iron Fist (aka Danny Rand), they worked on their own individual levels as well. That's not something you see all the time, and many subplots can get in the way of a show as a whole. I was especially intrigued about the twists and turns of the Meachum family and I liked how the dynamics kept switching. I also felt the Colleen Wing character had her own troubles and beliefs she had to struggle with to be interesting as well. So what was their major beef? Well, let's start with the most obvious and the one that is actually true. The Iron Fist's fight scenes were not up to par; that is glaringly obvious and something they truly need to look at when season 2 comes around. Especially when you're comparing them to Colleen Wing's. She was awesome and I don't know if I should credit the actress, Jessica Henrick, or her stunt double, but I'm going to give more credit to the actress because she also did a good job in the role other than the fight scenes. The second biggest complaint that I've read was Danny's character as a whole. Let's be honest, he's not always likable. He's stubborn & pigheaded, a bit childish as well as a little quick tempered. I'm going to assume the majority of the critics did not watch the whole series, but only the first few. Because as the story progresses, it becomes clear that he is like that for a reason. And really, it isn't truly out in the open until the final episode when Gao bluntly tells him why he is the way he is. He also has a very immature, naive side of him as well that some may have found annoying. I found his utter lack of understanding business a bit ridiculous. But I pose this question: what if you entered into the real world after only being surrounded by mountains and monks and your education was limited to the philosophies of life and learning your "chi"? Yeah, you probably be a little confused and stupid too. So maybe get over it now. Maybe there was a problem with the pacing of the show; is that it? Well, we all know that each one of the Marvel/Netflix shows has a problem w/ pacing (and quite frankly, alot of other quality shows suffer that same thing). Jessica Jones could have been a whole 2 episodes shorter. And Daredevil, as much as I enjoy it, is even worse. So it's a non-issue, really. Especially since the second half of Iron Fist doesn't suffer that problem at all.

I think I've made my point. You can watch this on it's own or as part of the Marvel Universe and I think you'd enjoy it. There's alot to like. The plot that drives the story is interesting and will keep you wanting to keep watching.

One more shout out: to Rosario Dawson, because I don't think her, or her character Claire Temple, get enough credit. She's the backbone to these superheroes and Rosario does an awesome f--king job playing the part. Can't wait to see her in the Defenders!

I foresee a big problem with the coming Defenders based on this, and that is the action scenes that will be a must in a street level SuperHero group will be VERY hard to match with a coherent feel, if Luke Cage can hit a BADDY he will go down, pretty much the same with Jessica and Luke, but DareDevil has only normal human Strengths, so would be much slower putting his opponent down . leaving a messy fight choreography at best, In reality DD would make an excellent reconnaissance job for the trio of Luke Jessica and Danny, all in all The Defenders will be the decider for all the previous instalments. if they can get the action to be "Realistic" and the pace consistently tense with crescendos in places of need then Iron fist will have passed muster but as it is now I feel it doesn't quite rank with the rest, that being said it also has more potential to stand on its own feet than Luke and Jessica. As in Daredevil, the Hand reveal themselves as the other side of the hero's coin -- except here, the Hand is far more subtle, realistic and understandable, with Bakuto as a somewhat idealistic if communist-leaning leader, willing to teach Danny important techniques his own masters neglected. I hope from now on, Marvel and Netflix pay more attention to justice issues in casting; that said, the show as it exists is good enough that I am watching it through for a second time. Expand

I'm not writing this review in defense of critical reception, however, the ire this series has received is completely unfounded. I wanted to leave my thoughts as follows. *No spoilers below, though I suggest you finish the series yourself before reading any reviews.*

"The Iron Fist" tells a fantastic story and while it does start out somewhat slow, it does a fantastic job of character development for the entire cast. The slow beginning is attributed to explaining Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and his past, bridging the gap to the series beginning. It's an origin story, much like every other Marvel series first season on Netflix.

Some critics had issues with Finn Jones' portrayal of the "Iron Fist" and I can only attribute that to his deliberately scripted naivety flying over their heads. The character has been disconnected from the world for the entirety of his teenage/adult life and entering the metropolitan mecca of New York city is strange to him initially. I thought it was a good representation of those events. He also goes through some powerful character development and ends in a great culmination as the character unravels his mysteries.

The supporting cast of the series is amazing, David Wenham's portrayal of "Howard Meachum" and Tom Pelphrey as "Ward Meachum" steal the series. The dynamic and chemistry between them both is amazing and I found myself just as invested in their character arc, if not more, than that of Iron Fist. Both showed stunning acting capability and should be recognized for their fantastic portrayal.

Jessica Henwick plays "Colleen Wing," the main protagonist's love interest. Some critics have suggested that it follows the same formula as other Netflix series. I however, found their dynamic unique and compelling. Both characters help unravel each-others past and surrounding mystique. It isn't simply thrust into the viewers face, and tells a complex tale with a engaging character arc. I actually found it more unique than that of the other Netflix series.

Jessica Stroup plays "Joy Meachum" and while she doesn't steal the show, she deserves a mention for her formidable acting and plays her role to near perfection. She's a powerful woman dealing with the death of her father while trying to forward the success of the business empire she inherited, leading down twists and turns of complex situations and eventually finding out who she really is inside.

Rosario Dawson reprises her role as "Claire Temple" as well as Wai Ching Ho as "Madame Gao". If you're familiar with previous Marvel series on Netflix you're intimate with both characters. Both play their roles similarly and very well. One criticism of Rosario Dawson's character throughout these series is that she seems to pop up at critical plot points. I do wish they'd introduce her more subtly. However, she ultimately delivers as intended.

There are other supporting members of the cast that play their roles solidly, such as the mysterious Ramon Rodriguez as "Bakuto" and Sacha Dhawan as "Davos." I have nothing but praise for both actors.

The fighting in the series is true to Marvel's style in the Netflix universe, with a touch of Ninja themed combat and more hand to hand violence. I found it enjoyable. It was a nice change from the typical masked warrior with his gadgets. It has more of a human mortal element to it and it had me more personally invested in each fight scene, though as far as "gore" it was toned down in comparison to the other series. In this situation it's probably for the best. The lack of a huge super hero ability and corny costume made me connect more with the character.

The overall plot twists and turns with beautiful character development for the surrounding cast, and the tale that is spun kept me engaged from episode 1 to 13. I was never not entertained, and went into the series actually expecting the worst due to some of the critical reception. However, an engaging story presented itself and left me more than satisfied upon its ending, and I do hope a second season eventually transpires. You might want to resist the urge to binge watch and take in the series at your own pace, I found it more enjoyable that way. I highly suggest viewers give it a try blindly and use freedom of thought when watching. When compared to other Marvel Netflix series it holds up more than satisfactory. I believe most of the negative criticism comes from those not wishing for an "Iron fist' series, and yearning for more of their already familiar heroes or those they desire to be introduced. However, if you can put that past yourself and think of the series objectively you can enjoy the beginning of the "Iron Fist" from start to finish and leave adequately satisfied, and possibly wanting more. If there was another season in the works I'd hardly object. Iron fist was another fantastic edition to Netflix's marvel universe and if you're familiar with the superhero genre it will leave you ultimately pleased and wanting more!

This show has magical realism a la Dr. Strange, and a Buddhist, hippy, somewhat down-to-earth vibe. It's different. That being said, Iron First is not pretending to be an immensely profound, provocative work of cinema a la Hitchcock, Kubrick or Bunuel. The critics who rate it below a 6 fail to appreciate creative storytelling, dynamic action scenes, and an important, underlying Buddhist philosophy. "If one wants the truth, hold no opinions". These critics need to take a step back and re-evaluate why people watch a show. It's amazing to me how they can fail to appreciate honest entertainment, while drool over contrived, unrealistic banter and storytelling that pretends to be rooted in our universe - such as the cinematic drivel Silver Linings Playbook, Arrival, or August Osage County.

Iron Fist has his its flaws, but overall it’s an enjoyable series, especially the latter half. There are plenty of people talking about the things that are wrong about it, so I’ll stick to the things I liked:

    1) Actual moral grey. Yes, I know the punisher killed people, but he only kills BAD GUYS. Having villains who can be reasonable and even sympathetic contrasted with heroes who screw up is just more interesting to me, and Iron Fist does a better job of that than any of the previous series.

    2) Good characterization. Every person in the story has believable motivations and takes reasonable actions to further those goals. None of that "I'm going to destroy the world because I'm eeeeviiiiillll" nonsense.

    3) For the love of god, this wasn't suppose to wrap up Danny's story in a neat little bow. The Hand are going to be the major villains the Defenders fight against. Obviously there's going to be more to come in his character arc, so he's not going to finish dealing with his demons here.

    4) Ninjas. You can hate on it all you want, but I thought the fight choreography was just as good as Daredevil.

    5) Acting. In addition to the returning cast that we love from the other shows, I thought Finn Jones did a credible job, and Jessica Henwick was FANTASTIC as Colleen. Supporting cast was solid too.

    6) Diversity. I liked the wide variety of characters and culture presented in the show. I find it amusing to see people complaining about how the characters aren't fitting into their neat little ethnic boxes like they're supposed to. Why? Is it bad for people to adopt other cultures as their own?

    7) Character growth. Arguably, Danny didn't change that much, and I can see why that would annoy Iron Fist fans, but every other major character in the season went through complete arcs, which is nothing short of amazing. As someone who wasn't a fan of the Iron Fist before this show, I'm just as interested in the Beechems and Colleen as I am in the titular character.

I don't know. To each their own. My order of favorites right now is: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage. I'm looking forward to the Defenders.

    Give it a chance.
When you compare it to Daredevil, of course you will be disappointed, but the main character of Danny Rand is barely 30, whereas Matt Murdock is definitely an adult. The dark and brooding Hell's kitchen is replaced with a more upbeat, teeny-bopper flavor, and I feel it fits.

In regards to character development, it would be interesting to compare Danny to Spiderman and DC's Green Arrow. Spiderman in that it truly is indicative of the post high school searching for yourself kind of story. I don't expect to like Danny, in fact I kind of can't stand him in the first few episodes, as he represents the I know-it-all kind of attitude and then is faced with read world challenges and flakes or folds. The similarities to DC's Green Arrow on the CW is that Danny suddenly is a billionaire and has to understand how to navigate the nuances of politics as well as social relationships. Green arrow is silly, campy, and many times unbelievable. Iron Fist is rooted in the metaphysical and that he is the "chosen one" is even more hilarious as he has no idea what to do with this kind of power. Again a typical young adult who thinks they know it all, until they are affronted with the brutal reality of the real world.

The acting is all right. But seriously, I am not expecting the Piano. I will say the Meachums are done well. So much so you have a brewing hatred for all of them. But there is beauty in each of the character as they represent the flaws of humanity. Whether it be power hungry, corporate greed, or selling your ideals for the love of the fight, all of the characters thus far are intricate and well acted.

Finn plays between Chris Platt from Guardians of the Galaxy and the doped up hippie kid that lives next door. While his performance is not new and noteworthy, he does the character justice if he is acting as an adult in his early twenties.

Ward and Joy are well acted. You hate them. You try and find a redeeming quality about them, only to be disappointed once again, that kind of dastardly feeling is reserved for Geoffrey Baratheon and Ramsey Bolton. I say it's well done.

The breakout star in my opinion is Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing.) Through her you feel the pangs of trying to commit to something in your life and things just not quite falling into place. Hers is the story of following your passion, and it not being enough to pay the bills. Watching her fight is invigorating, and while she is no Ip Man, or Jet Li, it's nice to see someone that has a reasonable range of martial arts skill and what it would look like without the smoke and mirrors.

It's a fun ride. It won't rock your world like Man in High Castle, but seriously folks it's a superhero movie.

Story: Here is where most don't take the time to give it a chance. The story is slow, probably slower than Jessica Jones, which many fans felt was the slowest moving series, BUT it gives so much time to character development and you get time to know about the characters.

The Meachums are the biggest example of this. The story arc of Ward is amazing. At first you see he is an **** then you see why he behaves this way, you get to see his life as the son of Harold, then you see what comes from all of this, sorry for the crappy explanation but i don't want to spoil it. But think of the lines of King Pin from Daredevil Season 1, there is a reason, a cause, that makes him who he is, and we get to see that and be a part of it.

Danny Rand's Journey through out this whole first season to me was organic, it makes sense that hes not "Iron Fist" yet, hes never dealt with the loss of his parents yet. Even after 15 years of training, hes not emotionally matured. The monks are warriors, they teach to fight, not to enlighten (different kind of monks). By the end of the season he has closure and a better understanding of what his purpose might be in the world. He went in as a 10 year old buy, and now he still sorta acts like a 10 year old boy which makes sense since hes never been taught to emotionally deal with his conflicts but by the end he does mature more. If you stick to it through the end you will get a better understanding, again i dont want to spoil anything.

In this new age of low attention span society its no wonder this show gets all the **** it does, people are not even giving story a chance play out, they just want instant gratification. Hell we all know the only reason Game of Thrones can get away with slow story is because in between they show **** and sex.

Bottom line is the story is good, but it takes its sweet time to tell it, hell even at the end its not over, this directly connects to The Defenders "Obvious spoiler alert" it ends on a cliff hanger "duh"

Fighting: Now here is where I find myself sometimes agreeing with the critics and the haters, YES the choreograph is lacking, I mean after seeing the amazing Daredevil season 1 and 2, the fighting here leaves you wanting more.

BUT, and its a huge but, the fighting IS NOT boring, it is executed well, meaning the moves are done right, it does NOT look like a crappy B rated kung fu film. We get to see more flow in the fighting, which makes sense because this is more Chinese wushu and tai chi style of fighting and not brawling or straight "im going to KILL you" fighting. Chinese style martial arts is like a dance, a deadly dance.

And I do agree Finn Jones isnt the best, but hell the dude only had like what was it? 2-3 months to train, for 2-3 months he does DAMN GOOD job. He can only get better, so The Defenders and Season 2 Iron Fist will keep improving.

Please give this show a chance, It really is NOT the crap show every critic out there is panning it out to be.

Iron Fist starts slow, after the 2nd episode I was actually frustrated. However I was really glad I kept with it. This was a fantastic experience for me, I enjoyed it almost as much as Daredevil. It is a different story to the previous series, actually very well crafted, excellently told, the only fault I would give the story telling is that it doesn't cater to well to the ADD audience and isn't highly attentive to pacing. For me this is a huge positive, the characterisation becomes much stronger for it, where the story is paying attention to the lives of the characters it doesn't throw in an action scene just to keep me watching, I get a real feel for who each of them are, and reveals more and plays with my assumptions as I go, revealing things I hadn't realised before.

The casting is very strong in my opinion, the main character Danny Rand is played as a non typical protagonist. He is brilliantly pulled off with child like naivety and innocence but believably kicks ass. I should mention the fight scenes are not the greatest part of the show, I have seen much better in the likes of Daredevil, that's not to say the action isn't fun, it is, it just isn't as impact-ful or artful as DD.
I also think the casting of the secondary characters is as good as the main protagonist, Colleen Wing is excellent and as likable as Danny Rand. There are very few weak performances.

This has left me very excited for the Defenders, Daredevil started me off in love, Jessica Jones was an enjoyable watch, DD season 2 got me excited again, then Luke Cage made me realise these series were being made by very different people. Iron Fist has put me back to how excited I was after Daredevil, it's a great character that will clearly be very different to the previous 3 and is as likable as any of them.

Usually I agree with the general perceptions of critics, but I really enjoyed this Iron Fist. Each of the Amazon Marvel series has had a different feel. This one had a lot of kitsch. The cheesy visual effects when Danny would get angry set the tone and it worked for me. I felt the show wasn't taking itself seriously and I enjoyed that. For a 13 hour long 90's movie that isn't a 13 hour long 90's movie it's pretty decent. Although Finn Jones acting could be sharper it didn't ruin my experience. The person playing Ward however acts like a man with a larger presence then he actually can pull off.

Is it great? No. Is it good? Definitely. It's a shame that you can't rate the critic reviews as helpful or not. They did a shameful job. And I don't even know why. In the comic books, the character is white, and his being white is integral to the story. I'm Asian and I don't care about your crappy politics, but it seems like a double standard when a Finn Jones is cast to play a white character that is white in the source material and the show gets mercilessly chastised, while Idris Elba gets cheered when he's talked about as being the next James Bond, who has been traditionally white.

Every initial critic review had a score of less than 40, which I think held back later reviewers from giving it a higher score. That not one of the critic review has a positive score is very telling, when far worse shows have a lot better critic reviews.

As to the quality of the show, as I mentioned before, it's not a masterpiece, but it often does a good job. There's some stilted dialog, and sometimes you feel like the show isn't going anywhere. But mostly you'll be kept entertained. I agree with other reviewers in that it's on the same level as Luke Cage and Daredevil. The actors do a fine job, but there's nothing truly original about any of the characters. Although you don't have a standout action sequence like in the two seasons of Daredevil, the action is overall pretty good.

Go watch it for yourself. DON'T TRUST THE CRITICS ON THIS ONE.

Iron Fist ranks as one of the most enjoyable Marvel experiences to date. Let me be clear, the critics have this wrong. First, this is one of the most diverse shows on television today. Yes, there was a call to Marvel to cast Danny as an Asian American, and yes, the producers ultimately decided to stay true to the comic book. However, when you look deeper than just the leading man, youIron Fist ranks as one of the most enjoyable Marvel experiences to date. Let me be clear, the critics have this wrong. First, this is one of the most diverse shows on television today. Yes, there was a call to Marvel to cast Danny as an Asian American, and yes, the producers ultimately decided to stay true to the comic book. However, when you look deeper than just the leading man, you realize that the show not only boasts a phenomenal cast of women and minorities, but also a diverse crew from guest directors to art direction to stunts (something that has been fought for in Hollywood for ages and continues to be an issue). Jessica Henwick is amazing as Colleen Wing, portraying a kick ass woman who stands equal to her male counterpart on every level. Wai Ching Ho as Madame Gao has been a fascinating and quietly formidable presence from her first introduction on Daredevil.

What the critics fail to realize is that Danny is one of 67 Iron Fists. If you look at the fantastic comic series created by Brubaker and Fraction, you will find there are 66 other Iron Fists, the majority of whom are of Asian descent. Danny Rand is only an introduction to this world, opening the door to the possibility of seeing a multitude of Iron Fists. Danny’s ethnicity only highlights his status an an outsider among the inhabitants of K’un-Lun (not to mention interracial relationships with Colleen Wing on the show and Misty Knight in the comic).

Much ado was made about Jessica Jones and Luke Cage for the real life issues that the main characters faced. Unfortunately, despite their talented casts, the writers of each show stopped with the underlying issues they were aiming to highlight and did not bother to craft a story. Killgrave (the villain of Jessica Jones) seemed weak and petty, despite his terrifying powers, compared to other Marvel villains, and the plot of Luke Cage moved at a snail’s pace to uninspired conclusions. Critics raved about these shows, praising them for “pushing boundaries” when in reality, the characters both deserved much stronger stories than they were given.

Iron Fist brought a refreshing balance between the action of Daredevil and the plodding introspection of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

It’s unfortunate that critics and fair-weather viewers who most likely never heard of Iron Fist and most certainly never read the comics feel they need to slam the show just for the sake of sparking controversy. Have some patience, let Iron Fist grow, and maybe we’ll get to see the Pirate Queen of Pinghai Bay, Wu Ao-Shi, shoot her Chi-laced arrows too.

P.S. Please give Danny an Iron Fist costume!

The worst part is the music. It's just horrible. It's a mishmash of Mass Effect and Tron: Legacy for the ambiance music, with a rare touch of trance. Then the artist music in it is just the worst and actually detracts from the scenes.

The acting is anywhere from adequate to moving. Finn seems to be VERY subjective to the director. He has some quite acceptable and even fun/impressive. Then he has others where it is just cringeworthy. Fortunately, that director only had that one episode. Jessica Stroup is about the most consistently good actress in the series, followed closely by Wai Ching Ho who will just creep you out at times (though the same bad director used her HORRIBLY in his episode). Rosario gives here worst performance from across the Netflix/Marvel series overall.

The writing is about all that saves this series from dropping to a 5 or 6. The execution is often the problem. The obviously largest impact is the directing, followed by the acting and music. Perhaps a new producer might be able to get a hand (not a pun, seriously) this and wring the bad directors out and get a competent music director to perhaps bring in a little asian undertone to the ambiance music and chose some fitting artist music that is more fitting to the scenes.
