Season 2 Review:
Mr. Cox and Elden Hanson, as Foggy, do earnestness well and put across the sometimes dopey dialogue better than you’d have a right to expect. There’s not, however, a lot of wit or shading to their performances--the writing can be blamed, but they could be doing more to amplify it, to make the show more fun. For that, we can turn to Deborah Ann Woll, who jolts the show to life every time she appears as Karen.

Season 1 Review:
The series gets off to a slow start, parceling out bits of the title character’s origin story over flashbacks in the first two episodes, and taking its time to introduce the supporting cast. But once Vincent D’Onofrio appears onscreen as Wilson Fisk, the dapper crime-boss villain known in the Marvel comic books as Kingpin, things pick up considerably, and Fisk turns out to be an even more fascinating and complex character than the protagonist.

Season 3 Review:
The first and best of the Marvel-Netflix series, Daredevil returns for its third season having contracted the same affliction that has plagued encores of its brethren: a sluggish, plodding pace that arduously advances the story. Despite marquee villains new and old, the Man Without Fear thus risks becoming the Series That Induces Sleep.

Season 1 Review:
While we get an origin story, it’s not drawn out, and right from the start, Murdock is fighting crime. The fighting is particularly well-staged.... The dialogue, however, could use some of that snap. The exchanges between Matt, Foggy, and Karen aim for the sort of brisk funniness that was a hallmark of shows these producers have worked on, including Buffy and Angel, but it’s mostly strained stuff. Actually, the purely plot-driven lines are more amusing.

Season 2 Review:
The second season of Daredevil compounds the failures of the first.... The Season 2 introduction of the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), a brutal vigilante inspired by Daredevil, could have had real charge if it didn't just feel like a trailer for Bernthal's own stand-alone series. Eventually, something's going to have to justify Daredevil's tonal excesses. Until then, we're left fumbling in the dark.
