After a poor fourth season, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is back with an awesome twisted and thrilling fifth season. The story lines undergo heavy ups and downs, even heavier ones than in previous seasons. Placed in various settings and situations, the characters undergo very deep emotionalAfter a poor fourth season, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is back with an awesome twisted and thrilling fifth season. The story lines undergo heavy ups and downs, even heavier ones than in previous seasons. Placed in various settings and situations, the characters undergo very deep emotional developments, which greatly effect the story in the best way possible. Also the new characters, which are added to the cast, surprise thorugh uniqueness. The main cast characters are faced with (un)foreseen consequences of their actions form previous seasons. Season five also convinces through grabbing up and processing a lot of loose strings and effects of character development form all previous seasons. Also, in this season, there is much more than the ususal tie in to the major MCU movie.… Expand

After the awesomeness that was Season 4, it was hard to imagine season 5 can beat it...and in some ways it doesn't but in others it does, this season was rather uneven and not as excellently paced as the previous one, but it also had some of the best episodes of the show, it was reallyAfter the awesomeness that was Season 4, it was hard to imagine season 5 can beat it...and in some ways it doesn't but in others it does, this season was rather uneven and not as excellently paced as the previous one, but it also had some of the best episodes of the show, it was really intense, it handled the subject of time travel in a unique way and I loved every bit of it, it had some great villain centric episodes that I loved, we haven't had one of those since forever! the 100th episode was surprisingly small scale (for AoS that is) but it worked as a love letter to long time fans and I cried my eyes out during it! the themes touched on in Fitz's storyline were very effective..the one downside I think to this season was me feeling the need to stay away from the fandom as they were being rather whiny, it's ok if the characters have conflict! them being unhappy isn't bad writing, come on!
Anyway, I loved every bit of this season, and look forward to season 6 being even better!… Expand

A really great season that acts as a finale of sorts, even though this is cut short with the knowledge that there will be a sixth and final season. Who got snapped?

Overall, this is worth a 6.5 due to the seeming soft reboot by alienating all the non-main cast, though after only two episodes that could be premature with a back-and-forth planned though I suspect Fitz will only be there as a VR member (no spoilers). A decent or good season but it does not wow me. Also the twists are nowhere near impactful or amazing as in the previous 4 seasons (Especially when you have seen the teaser at end of season 4 that spoils a mayor twist). It is also the kind I rated lower the longer I think about certain aspects. I started at an 8/10 but now I am doubting a 7/10. Lets start with a summary. After the events of the last season the whole team ended being on the wanted criminals list. The situation is so hard or unbelievable to explain that even they themselves do not believe they will be acquitted. They decide to not run away or hide with a last peaceful meal at a dinner while waiting to get arrested. However because of events that are unclear at the beginning of the season they end in a far more crapsack situation. One theme of this season is fighting against something that seems unavoidable while another are the abysses of human nature. All characters will experience a low point and for some it is the worst they experienced so far. I want to point out that I do not like this. To clarify: The facing and situations are well done. The character development and conflicts that resulted are not. I liked that the Agents of Shield are are real team that protect each other and will not give up. No matter the odds or obstacles you know when they work together they will overcome everything. Here it sometimes feel like the beginning of the end of the team. I say the story the story in general delivers but is weaker at some parts. The conclusion of the story is satisfactory but for the characters it is unsatisfying for Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Fitzsimmons and Daisy Johnson. Also I dislike what they did with side characters like Carl Creed and Glenn Talbot. They wasted them at the end but I must admit that Glenn Talbot delivered an awesome performance. For the acting performance I will praise the cast. They deliver their roles and can dive into unexplored territories. Even if I dislike the outcome I praise a good performance. As new characters we have Deke Shaw played by Jeff Ward. He is a humanly character that grows in his arc. Would like to see more of him but he starts a bit unlikable. Tess played by Eve Harlow and Flint played by Coy Steward have not much screen time but work really well. Kasius and Sinaraa played by Dominic Rains and Florence Faivre became great antagonists. He is a clever schemer and slimy bastard type villain while she is his enforcer. She is cruel, not a wordy person and a force to be recognized in battle. Together they work great. Same goes for Ruby and general Hale. Their relationship, backstory and development are enjoyable. I would have liked to see more of them. The secret star was Enoch played by Joel Stoffer. I cant say much because of spoilers but can at least praise him for his performance. No missteps here in the acting field. As per the shows own standards the special effects and battles are well crafted. Everything looks good and believable. The fight scenes are impactful and immersive. In hindsight there are a few smaller flaws or inconsistencies in the story. For example I think the end of the final villain is just a plot device or wishful thinking. He could avoid the consequences with his powers by reversing the effect (He did use his skills to do similar things before). I am vague here to not spoil it. He was not unconscious. Overall it is in the realm that I enjoyed but in hindsight find flaws. It is the weakest season so far but nowhere near garbage level. I am hesitating between 6-7/10. I think a 7/10 is valid.… Expand
