Special effects sequences finally look like they aren't bargain versions of the movie effects houses. Overall, the season three opener had a lot going for it. I have had high expectations for the show since the beginning and I have stuck with it even when it seemed to get lost in the woods occasionally. But after seeing the season three premiere I am very excited about where this season is headed. And now that season 1 and 2 are on Netflix its fun to go back and catch up on old episodes to fill in some reference gaps in my memory. There is still room for improvement here but it looks like some good decisions are being made about the future of the show and that is encouraging for Marvel fans who have stayed loyal. Expand

I love season 3 because it's so expanding and amazing. There are a lot of Easter eggs and secrets because they are combine with each other. I love this show because it's epic, fantastic, brilliant, mind blowing, jaw dropping, spell binding. This is the best show ever!

    Satisfying to watch. Score: 9.8
The show that could have been great since Season One has grown up (with pain from trial and error).
Marvel couldn't meet high expectations and make a blockbuster-level show with superheroes every week and cameos. Instead we got Agents of SHIELD, a street-level look at the MCU that underwhelmed and annoyed with cliche characters. (Blame has been on Joss

(Blame has been on Joss Whedon for this and he is also being criticized for Avengers 2.) A by-the-numbers and lackadaisical Season 1 premiere started a first season that took off halfway through (a little too late by then). Season 3 has bigger ambitions and a bigger scope however: the Inhumans. “SHEILD” now has something more than Hydra to look forward to.

SHIELD, HYDRA, the ATCU, and Inhumans--these groups and organizations coexist on the same show. However, Marvel is thankfully smart when giving screentime to characters, and gives each the proper amount.

AOS has a big cast--great and well-developed with 3 seasons but a bit too large. Nevertheless, everyone is being balanced well and some people have evolved interestingly over time--like Fitz briefly becoming edgy, with 'nothing to lose' and willing to strike; or Daisy becoming a leader. Character dynamics have been changed up, as characters who don't interact often are spending more time together (to keep things fresh), while other relationships enter new territory (Fitz & Simmons).

The implications of events on AOS are also getting more interesting. (Inhumans becoming widespread). The show is delving deeper into history (the true origin of HYDRA, the Death entity on the alien planet).

The main goal of any show is to entertain, and most of the episodes I watched accomplished that. “Agents of SHIELD” has become great at building up the story. (One good example was when previous sideplots and story arcs come to a satisfactory head in Episode 8, “Many Heads, One Tail”.)

As is a common problem with many shows, a few episodes end too quickly, feel rushed, or a bit unfocused. But this is thankfully not the norm for “AOS”. CGI and such seem to be a bit inconsistent (Lash looked better in the Season 3 premiere, for example, than in later episodes). But for the most part, the CGI is believable and plays a vital part in building this corner of the MCU.

I think the premiere episode of Season 3 was my favorite so far, because it was more than SHIELD VS Hydra. It was focused, not to mention interesting.

Sidenote: the show keeps losing viewers, despite it getting better. If “AOS” truly wants to be successful, it should be renamed and rebranded--maybe as “Secret Warriors”? More money could be spent on advertising premieres as well.

All in all (as user ‘ThemBakerBoys’ said so well), “it looks like some good decisions are being made about the future of the show and that is encouraging for Marvel fans who have stayed loyal.”

Season 3 stepped up in a big way, and I enjoyed the first 2, but this season had great writing, awesome acting and characterization, it took bold choices like dedicating an episode to one character on an alien planet, it discussed themes of discrimination and civil war in the way movies can't and it manged the huge ensemble cast very efficiently..my only problem is actually the marketing,Season 3 stepped up in a big way, and I enjoyed the first 2, but this season had great writing, awesome acting and characterization, it took bold choices like dedicating an episode to one character on an alien planet, it discussed themes of discrimination and civil war in the way movies can't and it manged the huge ensemble cast very efficiently..my only problem is actually the marketing, as the promos were focused on who would die, making it a bigger deal than it was. Great show, just a pity about Grant Ward and the way they treated him. Also very sad that Lincoln Campbell died. I also still miss Bobby Morse and Lance Hunter. When is season 4 starting?

Season 3 again delivers and has the same strength that made this show enjoyable. These are strong characters you are attached to atop on character development, immersive story arcs and great twist that hit you like a truck. I must say this season has the best twist for the show. All are believable, make sense and enhance the experience. Because the last 2 seasons surprised me often I said to myself that this time I will be prepared and analyze everything and make correct predictions. I failed except in 1 cases were I could predict that something was a trick or trap but would never guessed the actual event. This season continues the events from the conclusion of season 2. Terrigen has been released to the ocean and is slowly spreading around the world / environment (If a human has Inhuman genes or enough Inhuman genes he/she will be transformed by Terrigen gaining superpowers). This is a horrifying experience for many as all people are unaware and causing panics and unintentional destruction as they have no control of their powers. Shield is trying to help them but they are not the only party involved as Inhumans are seen different by many fractions (Assets, weapons, menaces or just humans with abilities). This will cause much tensions. Meanwhile Hydra while being hit hard is not destroyed. They try to rebuild. Also Jemma Simmons has vanished and the team is trying their best to save here or even understand what happens. This are just some set ups as there are more arcs and developments. The season has a lot of character development. Be it again Phil Caulson, Daisy Johnson (formerly know as Skye), Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons or especially Grant Ward. I think Grant Ward has the greatest story arc and I was impressed what they did with his character. For Agents of Shield I generally recommend watching all episodes as the developments, twists and arcs are worth it. This way you get the full impact, excitement and enjoyment. There are a few characters added in this season. We got Elean Rodriguez played by Natalia Cordova-Buckley. A great addition to the cast and she develops well during the show. Lincoln Campell played by Luke Mitchell returns and gets a bigger role in this season. His struggles and development make him relatable. Andrew Garner played by Blair Underwood also returns and has more screentime. He has a great arc and backstory. He is the hidden star of this season for me and I had once tears in my eyes in his greatest scene. There are some other characters that will return or developed for further seasons. I am vague because of spoilers as the twist are a staple of this show (Yes I repeat this a lot). The special effects are really good for a TV show. Because this is the “It looks so natural and whole” case that I often forget to even mention it. The fight scenes are again a highlight. The choreography is always excellent. My standard remark is always “You feel the impact and intensity”. Overall this is another great season full of great character development, story arcs and so far the best twist of the show. Worth watching from start to finish. Be warned for season 4 (Not because it is bad!). At approx the second third it gets pretty grim and dark. I stopped a bit to let this sink in before I continued. New additions to the story made the season a lot more dynamic, the secret of some characters they hide from some others, makes you think about who is good or bad or what they are hiding.

Season 3 is decent, it’s mediocre and fine. I still enjoyed it but season 1 and later seasons are certainly better.

With heavy spy thrills and a giddy superpowers-in-a-pill season arc, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is starting to feel less like a secondary treat for fans of the MCU and more like a loosen-the-top-button style main course.
