Take away that and it barely merits a 1. Some in my household found it interesting enough to keep watching and for that reason, I have seen every painstakingly awful episode of very bad acting and even worse writing. Aspiring/struggling actors must look at this show and say "I can't get work and THAT guy gets a role on a major network's TV drama?! I'm mostly talking about the actor who plays Ben, I'm stunned every time I watch and realize that a group of people watched him auditon for the part and said "yep, that's our guy" One critic nailed it with the critique that Manifest wants to be "This is Us" meets "Lost" and fails miserably. I loathe the emotional manipulativeness of "This is Us", but can not deny the writing and acting are consistently good, and sometimes excellent. As for Lost, Manifest can't hold up to even the late season Lost that so many people trashed....not even close. I can only assumed that the folks who like Manifest have limited cable access and rarely venture out beyond ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. Expand

The idea is good but the execution not so much. Cliche after cliche and way to sentimental. The characters are 2 dimensional and apart from Cal, the young boy, you have zero sympathy for any of them. There were too many obnoxious cardboard characters. The kind of people I would avoid in real life. Also, the pacing suggests they really didn’t have much story so they were dragging it out. In short, this show consists of unlikable characters, mystery box plot, and slow pacing. Bad writing 101 just like most of what’s out today. There’s an entire generation of incompetent writers who have, for some absurd reason I can’t fathom, been hired to write almost every movie and show. Expand

Absolute dog sh*t. There's literally nothing good about this show beyond first two episodes. Awful C tier actors, horrible writing, horrible visuals, horrible everything. Don't waste your time with this one.

The predictable dialogue and the shmaltzy storylines could be forgiven if the show had at all delivered on the premise. Let's ignore for a moment that the show is blatantly Christian, including finding part of the lost ark.

What I want to
The predictable dialogue and the shmaltzy storylines could be forgiven if the show had at all delivered on the premise. Let's ignore for a moment that the show is blatantly Christian, including finding part of the lost ark.

What I want to explore is the laziness and hack writing that pulls out all of the tropes: government conspiracy, "science" defined as an amoral approach to living and progress, the police who are trying their best at all times but are handed a system that lets criminals go free. Its this kind of conservative fantasy told over and over in mainstream television that erodes our confidence in a fact-based society. I find particularly annoying that the Stones, a middle-class family are incredibly entitled. No one works, there is always money for a nice house and they have the privileged to walk in and out of government facilities and flaunt the law in a completely unbelievable way.

Meh, it's an interesting concept, and I made it through the first season despite the bad acting of the blonde guy and his police officer sister. Or perhaps I should say over acting! I cannot go over how much make-up the male protagonist has, it also hinders his ability to act.
The premise is nice but the show and the lines are cliché after cliché. All of the action somehow is investigated by the same police department,

The premise is nice but the show and the lines are cliché after cliché. All of the action somehow is investigated by the same police department, characters have plot armor, the scientist girl somehow is an expert in any department and the protagonists can enter in any institution and defy law anytime. Below thrash show.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is so garbage fun-bad... Laughing at it is by far the best part. If The score was for my personal watching experience I would give it a 9 of 10. Bad writing, CG, and some weird plot elements were at large in the show, but overall the plot is interesting although very odd. Moments such as Cal's cancer getting absorbed and the bird flying over Makayla (my memory of some events is foggy because I watched this about a year ago) show some of these very well. My main issue is the lack of concentration on the main story and WAY, WAY too many sub-plots. Expand
