Lucifer's character is amusing but hes just not enough to make the show anything more than yet another cop show with a gimmick. Lucifer has some good moments but the generic cop work in between is just boring. People on IMBD seem to really like this show, so I guess it's a cop show for people who don't watch any other cop shows and haven't aren't tired of the genre.

I know people are going to hate on this show because it's a complete debauchery of the source material, and that's a perfectly acceptable criticism. There is so much about the source material that would have made a "great" show, and instead all there is, is a police procedural with a small twist.

But you know what? I enjoy it for what it is. It's simple fun; it's certainly not one of the best shows on TV (or even on Fox), but it's fun watching Tom Ellis wise-crack and spout terrible devil puns. It's a guilty pleasure. Just try to forget what it represents and accept it as B-level entertainment.

I have to say this is one of my favourite new shows. I love the main character and the humour. I find myself laughing every episode. It's interesting watching the evolution of the Devil from someone who enjoys hurting people to someone who has empathy and feelings. I look forward to watching this show!

I am not a fan of procedural cop shows ( i think CSI and all that is a waste of money) so fortunately, this isn't one. Yes there is cops and cases and all that but it isn't really centered around that, it's more of a side subject. Great show, nothing bad to say about it.

Lucifer has fallen prey to exactly what I thought it would fall prey to, and that is the show's procedural nature. Granted, they have also departed quite a lot from the source material, but I don't give that too much attention, unless it's one of my favourite characters. Tom Ellis as the Devil Himself is quite brilliant, all his little daddy issue jokes are still fun for me. Delicious Show, it has great sense of humor and double sense jokes that keep the viewers entertained, its a great story, who cares of the plot might have been used before? the actors are doing a really good job, and Tom Ellis as Lucifer, is one of the best representations of this role I've seen and enjoyed so far.

Slightly step down into a humanity crush on the latest episode, which could have been handled better, he is still Lucifer and having his character reject sex to whom he has been trying to achieve the entire series, i believe was a weak decision, maybe instead of rejecting her, he could have gone for it but to give more strength to her "powers" over him, maybe Lucifer couldn't get "it up" with her. but they chose to go to the "i feel more human now" route.

Overall i enjoy this show and is one of the best things on Monday.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best TV-series produced over many years, S1 deserves a separate review being it truly a MASTERPIECE, captivating, ironic, original, amazing, never predictable. The film-photography was incomparable. “Cinema is moving painting” said Louis Delluc and Fellini used to say: "A movie is written with the light". Lucifer was something-like-this. Indeed, photographic images shot in the interiors are rich in "chiaroscuro". The effect is, using a metaphor, that it looks like you plunged yourself into a Caravaggio paint. Everything’s perfectly studied: acting, writing, camera framing all are unbelievable, allowing to capture the best actors’ performance. Soundtrack, the best I've ever heard, is cleverly coordinated to each episode and the action, both in lyrics and in tune.
There’s thread of sadness running underneath this season that gives it its “noir” aftertaste. Despite the jokes and lightheartedness, the protagonist is lonely, living his life as something ineluctable. S1 attracts a selected audience that is just its strength. I was very surprised and unpleasantly impressed from some critics/audience reviews I read. Anyway, a masterpiece may be least appreciated than a worthless-crust. Although the series’s got a cop procedural format (I suppose it’s one reasons S1 was unjustly penalized by Critics and didn’t received the rating it deserves, in addition to differences with Gaiman’s Comics, which may have disappointed comics-readers), it hides deep meanings as it plays with a larger story arc throughout all seasons. S1 captures and manages you to unleash intense emotions and reflections. Its strengths are the content and the protagonist who’s attracting for his tasty touch, mannerism, intense looks.
The series is supported by a noteworthy Cast. Ellis, with his masterful performance and playful-gleam in his eyes, is effortless at being devilishly awesome, in S1 is a more believable Devil, than in the following ones. Lucifer is a psychologically complex character. Apparently cold, distant, self-centred, superficial, impudent, hiding his own lack of self-confidence with his irony but, in the deeper, emotionally captivating, never overdone, having deep feelings, living by his passion, never ridiculous, a charming British accent and dandy-side. His extraordinary acting allows him to better express all these aspects. If I could, I’d surely give 10 stars.

With such an enticing premise I was hoping for a little more supernatural and less cliché police drama but beggars can't be choosers. I must admit I really am a fan of this show as it really is easy to watch and basically anyone can jump into it at any point and have a fair understanding of what it's all about.

Incidentally, I had always suspected Satan was from across the pond.

Beelzebub hangs out at his swanky nightclub Vox. He seems like a surprisingly nice guy (for being Evil Incarnate and all). Big D has a soft spot for a girl (Delilah) who is shot in his arms. Have no fear. Morningstar is now on the case.

On a side note, the Devil's dad (I'm envisioning Harvey Keitel in "Little Nicky") wants him home. Angel Amenadiel will escort Luc back. Amen has some big black wings. Too bad we couldnt see more of him. The Prince of Darkness has retired though. He doesnt plan to return anytime soon.

One of Lucifer's powers (I assume there are many) is getting humans to reveal their deepest fantasies. For some reason this doesnt work on LAPD Detective Chloe Decker though. He's intrigued. She arrests him for being a creeper. Of course she has to stop at her daughter's school on the way to the police station. The Prince of Darkness has a way with children (even though he despises them). Trixie and he become fast friends. Off Lucifer goes to help Chloe solve crimes. What I thought was going to be a horror show has now turned into a cop procedural/possible romcom.

"Lucifer" isnt a completely terrible show. It's just not my cup of tea. I wrongly assumed it would be a horror series (since it's about the Devil and all). This offering seems better suited for the light fluff of the "CW" channel. Do we really need another cop show on TV? I think not. And why would Satan waste his time solving crimes? I'm sure he already know who committed them in the first place. Tom Ellis is super charming as Lucifer. He gives the role his all. Lauren German is also appealing as Chloe. There just isn't enough here to keep me coming back though.

I don't think Lucifer is a bad show, however after seeing the pilot this looks to become a run of the mill police procedural. There's nothing wrong with that, however there's nothing really special about it either apart from the catch being the guy helping the police is the king of Hell. Which makes about as much sense as it sounds.

For the few people familiar with the Vertigo character this is based on, don't expect to see any fateful rendition. Lucifer the tv show is so different from the source material, that I wonder why they even bought the rights to the property. They could have done the same exact thing with a different name for the show, and nobody would have thought it's based on the Lucifer comic. The changes however aren't for the better (are they ever when directors think they know better than the original writers?) and instead we get a somewhat dumbed down version.

Lucifer is now portrayed as a boy in a man's body, is British, wants to solve crimes, and has Jedi powers. Again, not necessarily a bad thing. However this is not Lucifer the show is supposedly based on. At least they are including the storyline where the angels try to get Lucifer back into Hell, which at the same time was the most interesting thing about the first episode in my opinion.

I'll watch the following episodes to see where they will take the main storyline, however I can't help be dissapointed by the show as I was expecting something much better considering what this is based on.

Later episodes they had Tom singing and, I'm not sure whether he really plays the piano or not but, I wouldn't be surprised if he did. The man is just that talented.

Fortunately, the rest of the show started to catch up with Tom's brilliant Lucifer. He and Chloe became a team that reminded me a little bit of the things I liked about the Jane & Lisbon relationship from the first couple of seasons of The Mentalist. And I adore Trixie, she's not the usual annoying kid that so many shows like to pop in. Instead she's smart, cute and sorta streetwise and she throws Lucifer off his game which is quite amusing. The psychiatrist is also a favourite because of how she makes everyone see the world in healthy, mature ways. And I wish the writers would continue to show Maze going to her for therapy - I thought that was gold!

The season finale, and the episodes leading up to it, were brilliant and bode very well for season 2.

Lucifer isn't a show meant to be a horror show, it's closer to family fare with a bit of sex and violence thrown in, but it's good at what it is and has found its stride.

I feel as if Lucifer isn't getting it's due.

Why? Because too many people on here have a habit of, "It feels like a..." and they want to compare it with something else to either enhance the review or degrade it. Another bad habit that reviews here have is projecting: Wanting it to be something it's not and criticizing something for it not fitting in their, little "box" so to speak.

Lucifer is a growing character played by a talented actor that seems to have more than just acting as a talent, he plays piano and sings. The character is more sarcastic with only very hints of his old self, which makes him less like any standard fallen angel role.

Also, and i've got to point this out, this is not a "super" show. I've seen so many people, over other sites, criticize him for losing his powers and that it makes it "just another" (another HORRIBLE critic habit phrase) whatever show. Part of the whole ideal of this show is that Lucifer's understanding the price he's paying for being among mortals, it's part of the show...it's SUPPOSED to be part of the show.

    Jeez, critics, stop "projecting".

With Season 2 hitting, i've seen people criticize the new character. Really people? One episode and you're criticizing them? They've not had time to grow and fill out. They need, at the minimum, 5-8 episodes to really find their place in a show or find their way out.

I saw Christian mothers go nuts, negatively, about this show but i find it's spin on biblical dogma to be very interesting. The "Big Bang" explanation really gave me a chuckle.

Amenadiel is growing as a character and we're supposed to be seeing him as "Luke Cage" later on through Marvel so i'm rooting for this guy. He's a great monkey-wrench in Lucifer's desperate efforts to make Chloe understand who he is....plus an occasional a$$-kicking scene is fun. Him making it with Maze made his role instantly more interesting because you KNOW he's got to answer to the boss sooner or later and that's going to be interesting.

Mazikeen is starting to find her own independence. She's going to be one of those "elemental" characters that's going to be in and out but timing, with her like some others, is key.

Chloe Decker is a good character but i was a little let down about her possible hidden origins. I was hoping that Lucifer getting affected with her around might make her a long-forgotten direct-descendant of Christ or something along those lines.

Linda Martin's character, the shrink, makes an interesting voice of reason among all of the chaos of the other characters. Her being still in the dark makes it all the better, she can remain who she is without understanding the truth and still get through to them.

And the music on this show, whether it's from an original artist or a cover by Tom or someone else, just makes this show even better....Two Dylan songs have already come across Lucifer's piano and i firmly believe that "Sympathy for the Devil" or "You Can't Always Get What You Want" are soon to come if they can procure the rights...it just fits.

I dunno where people align this show with Syfy shows, maybe they just don't have any more creativity than that but i wish people would use a little more critical thinking rather than just saying "It's just like X show".

Look, while Lucifer (to me, at least) is pretty predictable...it's the "good" predictable. It's a good show and i still look forward to every episode.

Look at it this way, anyone here, who has written a bad review...and you're still watching the show, well...i dunno if that makes you an idiot or a hypocrite but it doesn't make you a good reviewer. You trample a show and still watch it means you "know" you were wrong and don't have the stones to admit it...keep guzzling that "haterade"

If the Church of Satan has an anti-Pope, surely His Unholiness will place the Fox Network under anathema for "Lucifer." The show makes the Prince of Darkness into a mischievous rogue, which has to be blasphemy of some kind, surely worthy of a formal curse on the network.

Seriously, a show about Lucifer spending come time on earth could have been clever if the writers had respected the premise or showed an ounce of originality. Why, traditionally, does a devil show up on this plane? Usually to tempt someone really important in the hope that he or she will succumb and change the fate of all humanity. Now wouldn't it be funny for Lucifer to decide each week who the most important person on earth is and try to make that person "fall"? I'd watch that show, especially if Lucifer had trouble working out who was important and who was merely a big noise.

Instead, Lucifer comes to earth and does what 60 percent of all TV characters do: solve mysteries. Yawn. And his diabolical skills are pathetic, just some charm and a knack for getting people to confess their desires. Big, contagious yawn. I'm now imagining how the series will depict God--maybe a blond underwear model who fixes high-school football games and beauty pageants--but I won't be sticking around to find out.

This PG-13 version of Satan is at its best when it doesn't take itself seriously. The plots are simplistic nonsense and the characters are predictable and stereotypical. The character of Maze is also a bit refreshing, but again, it's a PG-13 version of evil.

The Devil is always a complex, fun character to play around with -- and even through the writers clearly aren't going to win an Emmy, they do have fun with the Lucifer character enough to make this a tasty bit of brain-candy. If you're looking for depth, theology discussion, or even mediocre story-telling, don't bother with this.

Nice tongue in cheek humor and certainly an original concept. The acting is charming with a little of the typical mismatched romantic situations. There enough action to drive the story, it's not the main focus of the show.

I've always been a fan of biblicly themed movies and shows. I loved Christopher Walken and Viggo Mortensen in The Prophecy, and I've much appreciated the more recent angelic fights in Dominion. I even watched Arnold Schwarzenegger's fight with the devil in End of Days. Twice.

But I'll be damned (quite probably, given the nature of this show) if I don't rank FOX's Lucifer as the best

Really enjoying this new show. It's different and fun and he has a perfect look for the part. The supporting actors also fit their parts and the little girl's interaction with Lucifer are funny. I did feel that in episode 3 that Lucifer seemed a little "cheesier" and silly; it'll be better if they keep him just this side of bad and mysterious...who wants to see a happy go lucky devil?

Maybe you find the devil too lame, too weak, not up to par... and you didn't understand, that what the show needs to be as good as it is. The devil, questioning himself about is own humanity... finding a new sense of his life, meeting this Divine cop girl, Rebecca..

Also, Lucifer, The Devil Himself, is not evil; he's smarmy. Rather than having no conscience, he's merely narcissistic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is one of the most sexist and misogynistic things I've seen in a long time.
It objectifies women tasteless, gross, dull (...) and the flat jokes and storyline can't make up for it either.

When the cop Chloe, the hot, blonde sex kitten first appeared on screen I knew all hope was gone, but after it got clear that the only 'interesting' thing about her is, that she played a role in a naughty teen movie ('you look so familiar, I could swear I saw you naked....did we have sex?' -Lucifer) I was about to puke on my macbook.

As if this wasn't enough, her character stays so flat and oppressed by Lucifer aka Tom Ellis and his disgusting, smug grin, that the only answer she has for his misogyne comments, is an annoyed head-shaking (it gets pretty obvious that she secretly LOVES it (and of course his d, like EVERY other woman)) and a slight smile EVERY **** TIME, even if tells her straight forward she should have sex with him, because it'd be good for her.

AND DON'T LET ME START ABOUT THE HORNY PSYCHOLOGIST, LUCIFER PAYS WITH HIS **** PENIS!!!!!!!111!!!!W!!11ühj!!!!!!11

I'm pretty sure it just gets worse but I stopped after the 3. episode, because i could feel my brain cells dying while watching this **** show.

THIS!!!!! is exactly what keeps rape culture and sexism going, by showing young boys and girls, that women aren't more than a sex object, that has to look hot and please the guy, and if they don't, men have the right to push them into it, until they do it, because in fact a woman's biggest desire is to please any man, esp. when he is 'hot'.
    Honestly **** this!!

    It's Lucifer. From Hell. Guys!

So is it good? I wouldn't call it that. It's kind of entertaining, more or less.
It's not a complete waste of time. If you're into this kind of thing, you might like it.

What's interesting in this show is Lucifer's "colleague", the female detective.
She seems to be something special and her being close to Lucifer has a specific effect on him.
But it's more or less only hinted at, at least for now. It may be something that will keep you interested and you might stick to this show, or not.

What this show can't really do, is make me understand the reasons why Lucifer is helping to fight crime as a consultant. And also, why the police would want him as one.
There have been enough episodes, but it's hard to swallow and you can't stop asking yourself again and again. "Why does he do it?".

Depending on your expectations about the entity of a real Lucifer, you may find this version too ordinary and un-sexy, even though women find him irresistible in the show.
A real Lucifer would know the desires of people, he wouldn't have to ask them.
For this show to work, he has to know too little about people or mankind, if you will. And sometimes that feels pretty lame.

I'm not sure if this show will give you a payoff, on the whole, week after week.
So you try it out and decide for yourself. I'm not entirely convinced and I may quit. Let's see.

I forgot, Rachael Harris is in it. I really like her. Doesn't help? Ok.

Luckily, devoting what I can only assume were an incredibly small amounts of capital, interest and resources, DC and Fox got together and decided to do exactly not-that.

The original novel, was, in absolutely no way, A POLICE-PROCEDURAL DRAMA OF ANY KIND! WHY IS EVERY SHOW NOW A POLICE-PROCEDURAL DRAMA?! Sorry. I lost myself when another part of my soul was taken by the grim reapers of popular TV. I'll be good now, promise.

Lucifer, gets bored of Hell, quits his job to bum about on Earth for a bit. He hooks up with a female cop who is inexplicably immune to his devilish charms, and they solve cases on a weekly basis in standard police-procedural drama fashion.

Tom Ellis is a very, very charismatic lead and the chemistry with Lauren German (the detective) is good. It's pretty funny and pretty entertaining. Lucifer tells everybody that he is the devil and people just think it's an affectation.

The story has an over-arching plot with rival angel Amenadiel trying to get him to Lucifer to return to his post, somebody nicking Lucifer's wings, and other supernatural bits and pieces. Lucifer has a deadly sidekick/night club hostess called Mazikeen who hangs about looking sullen.

I'd give this a try if any of the above sounds interesting. As I said at the start, this is the most cynical adaptation of one of my favourite graphic novels and I still find myself watching. Better yet, read the graphic novel, it's one-of-a-kind.

Average direction, Actors are good in general. Tom Ellis is particularly great. Some characters are kind of boring or underexploited (Amenadiel). There's also a great lack of supernatural stuff. But it's good stuff overall.

Lucifer brings forth a lovable, charming cast and the characters that they play.

Every episode brings a smile and considering they air it every Monday, one of the days most of us need it the most, it works out quite well. It's a fun, quirky, easy to watch show and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting just that.

Don't look too hard into critic reviews and watch it for yourself!

Lucifer is the story of, well Lucifer. Sick of life in hell he escapes to California to run a night club and have some fun. What follows is a fun filled ride of police work, mystery and generally good comedy. That being said, it is based off characters from a comic book. I haven't read them but from what I have gathered it is very far removed from the source material. All in all it is aLucifer is the story of, well Lucifer. This is hands down one of the most entertaining shows on television at the moment all the characters are great but Tom Ellis who seems to have found his niche with lucifer is fantastic with equal amounts of intensity and humour, also Lauren German as chloe is his perfect partner this show keeps getting better so long may it continue.

This searies its very briliant as all other that follow. Lucifer and Decker are so lovable and even if the story could seem repetitive to resolve murders we wont know never how ll end. What "god" ll mind for lucifer future?!? we ll see we like it, good job everyone Producers and actors, keep going untill 100 serie!
    Apologize for my bad english!

Lucifer is my favorite new show of 2016 and one of my favorite shows of all time. Tom Ellis's performances as Lucifer Morningstar is exceptional, he is hilarious, cool, charming, and also gives a very deep and complex performance and he gives the best portrayal of the devil I have ever seen. The casts chemistry is phenomenal they just play off of each other perfectly. The supportingLucifer is my favorite new show of 2016 and one of my favorite shows of all time. The concept of Lucifer the devil struggling with good and evil, beginning to want to be reformed and a good person, and showing signs of remorse, humanity, empathy, and love and caring for others is remarkable. The visual effects are superb especially Lucifer when he shows himself as the devil, when Maze shows herself as a demon, and when Amenadiel shows his wings, the visual effects are so cool and awesome. The costumes are outstanding especially on Tom Ellis and Lesley-Ann Brandt. The music choices were fantastic and they fit perfectly in the show. Perfect balance from comedy to serious then the adrenalin inducing badass and a sweet circle of slight angst. Everything I want in a show. Not only is the soundtrack superb, the characters have depth and potential for fanfiction.

I absolutely love the twist of lucifer himself being the main character. Such an addicting show and now officially my favourite. Honestly you need to watch it,

Love the show - One of my favorite shows. The show has helped me to see Lucifer in a different light - a person who punishes evil, a fallen angel. A fallen angel would not be the horrible creature that some interpretations of the Bible present ... but an angel who punishes evil

As the title character, Tom Ellis embodies what I'd hope a Lucifer-in-real-life would: master of every skill, deviously handsome and irresistible to women (and men). He truly is the package, all wrapped up in a bow and gorgeous paper. The supporting cast is nuanced and appropriate -- the relationships between all are very believable. Great season, very funny relationships and 1 liners. The background and character building done extremely well and fairly in line with modern lore and dante's inferno, which is continued well for most of the show admittedly though it does fall off after season 1.

    - During the first 2 seasons this will feel like your everyday cop series with smart wit and average CGI. But in fact by the time i got to season 3 and it all made sense.

    - This is a journey of self discovery, individualism and the exploration of how really are god's creatures are so similar to each other but with each their own perspective. - In my lifetime i have never shed a tear

    - In my lifetime i have never shed a tear during watching such fictional content but i am blown away by how it all made sense in the end.

    - Amazing character build up and storytelling.

    - This series has it all: drama, horror, comedy, love, action, fiction and it really goes on and on depend on how the persons sees it.

    - This show definitely affected how i see myself, other people and the world and i am truly happy i decided to give it a shot and watch it.

    - The only downside is the poor CGI which is rarely present but they could have done a better job especially that it wasn't used that often during the show.

100% must watch, every episode doesn't feel the same but will all add up every now and then.

Mix of High School Musical and NCIS but it has a good potential... The first series was amazing, the actor who plays Lucifer is very realistic and all these biblical creatures are something fascinating; trust me everybody loves tv shows with angels, devils, good and evil. In the first series there was also a romance between the main protagonists. However, I'm watching currently the 3rdMix of High School Musical and NCIS but it has a good potential... In the first series there was also a romance between the main protagonists. However, I'm watching currently the 3rd series and I'm all the time skipping, skipping, skipping, gosh, it's so bad... It's always the same: murder, Lucifer makes investigating all about himself, usually it's always the same killer (some relative that is showed on the beginning of the episode) and the whole episode is so predictable. It's definitely not a show for anyone with average IQ or above. Terrorists, stars and jealous fan, heritage, drugs, food poisoning, etc. The characters are like I wrote very interesting. For example Linda, the therapist. But why don't they show something more from her personal life? They showed her husband, what happened to him? How she lives? What is her story? Nothing. You always see her at her office, that's it. This show is missing one important thing. THE DEPTH. Expand

The show’s supporting players--in particular, D.B. Woodside’s Amenadiel, sent down from Heaven to insist Lucifer go back from where he came, Rachael Harris as Lucifer’s shrink, and Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze, Lucifer’s ass-kicking assistant--hint at the possibility of a more interesting show (as does a closing twist in “Favorite Son”). Until or unless the show’s writing staff digs down and explore those darker instincts, however, Lucifer feels stuck in creative purgatory.

Lucifer is the most accessible [of the twoshows--the other being Syfy's "The Magicians"], mostly because it feels as if we've already seen it before. And we have, one way or another; "Lucifer" feels a bit as if Syfy's fallen-angel drama "Dominion" mated with ABC's "Castle."
