Delivering bleakness and black comedy in distilled form via stories that rarely last more than fifteen minutes, it’s like Black Mirror for the ADD-addled video game crowd. ... Love, Death & Robots is at its finest when it’s short, sweet and satirically nasty.

While every short is well-executed, bingeing them in quick succession dulls rather than sharpens their impact.

While many of the entries here fall into an inter-zone of “meh, OK then” mediocrity, there are a handful of highlights as well.

While there’s a lot to admire in the visuals ... the stories themselves are treated like an afterthought, and that colors everything an ugly shade of gray.

Plot twists abound and the visual flash fiction format is extremely well realised.

The third episode, for me, catapulted my view of the show significantly. It presented itself as animated crafts on top of a cyberpunk-seedy version of Hong Kong, where the journey of the main characters culminate in a philosophical statement -'the cycle of exploitation continues, involving anyone swept up in it'. It communicated this through effective action, simple desire and a careful balance of foretelling and revelation, while the art style gave my mind sufficient interest to parallel-process. The result was a very engaging experience that married emotional response and thought; I found it extremely well-done.

It is like an art gallery and a time capsule of science fiction ideas both new and old that express an interstellar level of imagination. Binging this show kept me on my toes, never knowing what I was going to see or feel next and had my brain and eyes stapled to the television.
HDR was made for a show like this and it was truly a visual and mental treat. At its worst it was titillation for the eyes, at its best it was perfection.
