The last few moments of the season made me turn a 9 into a 10. For that alone I should score this one higher than the last one. One new character introduced in this season was woven into the main plot pretty decently, same as Desmond was who first appeared in S 2. The story deviated somewhat from the main characters introduced in the first act, and that was a mistake IMO. But I think the writers felt a genuine need to broaden the story. In all fairness this is no longer strictly a story about those few characters from the start anymore, but a saga where characters come and go when they've completed their purpose. Only Locke seems to know what he wants from his life. Expand

After a slow start in which the plot seemed to be moving forward at a snail’s pace season three gradually picked up towards its finale. Some of the more pressing questions asked in previous seasons were answered but the show continued to raise new ones that did not always seem to have relevance to the main mystery of the island.

Watching the show on again on DVD it is certainly easier

Watching the show on again on DVD it is certainly easier to keep up complex plot than when watched week to week on TV but it often still comes across like the writers where making some elements as they went along. Having said all that this third season is still compulsive viewing and the twist at the end of the final episode was truly inspired.

I found this season to be slightly better than season 2 great acting as usual smart story intense action and it finally answers some questions on who the others actually are but also raised new questions overall this was a 9.5 for me making it the second best season so far.( the first season was number 1)

The first couple seasons really razzled and dazzled me. Season 3 fails to disappoint. To call this season my least favorite would be like deciding which of my children I least love. With another 20+ episode season, it's great to have plenty of time to take it all in, even if after all this time my fingers still reach for my head. Every problem solved seems to bring about a host of new questions. What this show does is nothing short of impressive. Expand

Best show ever made! Absolutely amazing, best acting, storyline, or plot ever. I don't know one thing wrong with the show because it is the best ever.

Boring characters and the plot makes no sense. Reels you in by making you think there is some awesome truth to be discovered and if you keep watching you will be rewarded, but the 'revelation' at the end is confusing and far from profound. Pretentious, self-indulgent drivel.

Still a good show but losing a little of its appeal with all the new characters. Jack Shephard played by Matthew Fox becomes dubious in this season but is quickly put back in the righteous role. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you judge Season 3 of Lost based on the first six episodes of the Season, you may come to the conclusion that this Season replicated everything wrong with Season 2. The Season suffers from a slow start but then goes on breath-taking run in the last 16 episodes. Up to this point, Lost has never been as consistently excellent as it was in the later half of the Season.

The first couple of episodes definitely had some strong moments. It is quite clear the writers are spinning their wheels though. The imprisonment of Jack, Kate, and Sawyer gave us tons of questions to ask but no answers -- a complaint that Lost has faced on a frequent basis. And, frankly, it seemed needlessly cryptic. It gets to the point of ridiculousness when The Others gather around Jack's cage and say they're watching him. I doubt this is ever going to be revisited to make matters worse.

It's night and day from where the intro was to the final stretch. It almost feels like a different show. "The Man from Tallahassee" is one of the best Lost episodes ever, giving us insight into Locke's paralysis. "Flashes Before Your Eyes" introduces Desmond's abnormal ability and gives us more reason to love the character. "The Brig" had the brilliantly emotional James Ford kill off Sawyer. These episodes are pivotal for the characters and the series as a whole, and they're truly some of the best episodes of the series.

And who can forget the desired backstories involving Ben and Juliet? Even "Exposé", which was pretty much filler, was an entertaining aside. Sayid fans like myself get plenty to love here as he continues to be the voice of reason. Oh yeah, and he breaks a guys neck without using his hands. James Bond who? Point being, Season 3 was firing on all cylinders in its last 16 episodes.

In my last two reviews, I've given Terry O'Quinn's John Locke special mention and it's hard not to do it again here. Looking back at each Season, his journey seems to be the most intriguing. He's gullible nature may cause some frustration but it's what makes Locke Locke. Michael Emerson and O'Quinn seem to have great chemistry together, as each moment of screen time together is something special. Emerson's Ben Linus always has the upper hand, but this doesn't make Locke weaker than him. Locke is far from normal and you can tell that Ben isn't exactly pleased.

The finale of the Season, "Through the Looking Glass", is one of the best two hours of television ever. The episode packs an absurd amount of action as the survivors try to thwart The Others. No one (besides maybe Jack and Kate) feel safe here. Every, or at least almost every, character is put to us here and Lost's ability to handle multiple plots is put to the ultimate test here. Suffice it to say, it succeeded.

Even Hurley's given something to do besides provide comic relief. I literally jumped out of my seat when he used that van to save the day. Charlie's given a proper send-off too with a final act that will have ramifications in Season 4, possibly saving a few lives. After stumbling with the character in Season 2, it's great to see this character brought to justice.

How about that final scene too? "We have to go back!" The flash-forward reveal swept me off my feet. There were subtle hints throughout the episode but I did not see it coming at all. Thankfully, this won't be the last flash-forward we'll see.

I sort of want to bump this score up to a nine but I don't feel like it deserves that high a rating when the opening moments of the series were sub-par. This Season could stand with the absolute best of them if the pace that the final half gave us was present in the first. Upcoming Seasons promise a more concentrated plot with less episodes per Season. If you just finished the third Season, you have tons to look forward to.

A continuation that simply is better.

Lost continues to impress me. It never fails to deliver new storylines and understandable character motivations. This third installment is a bit more nuanced when it comes to the story, it puts everything we know in a new perspective. We see our characters, villains and events from a brand new angle. There's a much bigger purpose to the story too.

This third installment is a bit more nuanced when it comes to the story, it puts everything we know in a new perspective. We see our characters, villains and events from a brand new angle. There's a much bigger purpose to the story too. It got much to tell about obsession, mysteries etc. The religious, fate, human and mysterious subplots and meanings continues too, and it really is better in every way. Team Fox-O'Quinn (Matthew Fox & Terry O'Quinn) continues to impress, and a stunning performance from Michael Emerson is something that needs to be mentioned, but also from the newcomer Elizabeth Mitchell who contributes much depth and feeling to the story.

It's still got its smaller flaws like vague CGI and some overly-dramatic slow moments. But I never felt bored with this third season, which I have felt in the previous ones. It's greater in every way. The story continues on inventive paths, characters keeps to develop, and it really is a show that keeps changing to the better. It's better from my personal and critical perspective. Keep the great work going J.J!

for me this is considered the best season of the entire series, as the story of the others remains to this day the best time in the series, is another season with a final shudder and death saddest in the entire series.

Awesome t.v. series! The best I have ever seen. Great acting from an enormous ensemble, interesting characters with plenty of character development, cool mysteries, and intense action all add up to a great show that beats the hell out of Breaking Bad.

'Lost' is, without a doubt, my favorite series ever. And while the beginning of the third season is probably the lowpoint of the entire show, the finale cliffhanger is nothing less than my favorite TV moment of all time.

The third season of "Lost" suffers from an uneven first half of episodes (1-9, at least). But it improves A LOT and a more serialized narrative starts to gain form, as well as some questions being answered. The finale is the best episode of the show I've ever seen to this date, which is saying something. To be binge-watched.

    Final Score: 7/10.

3 season are almost completely devoted to Others. And for all first 3 seasons here the best flashbacks. Because of change of focus of the scenario with other group of people the scenario considerably sank on dynamics. Upon a half of series is a prequel by an original first season. But the 3rd season forced to look at all events on the other hand.
