    The fly-on-the-wall nature of the film, directed by Sam Jones, should appeal not only to fans of Dylan and the artists involved, but also to anyone interested in the process of songwriting.

    Jones’ attempts to replicate the history of “The Basement Tapes” falls flat.... That’s too bad, since there’s a lot to savor here, even for those who can’t name more than a few of Dylan’s signature songs.
