    George Lopez should have revised his old show by bringing back the former cast members because that show was a hell of a lot better than this lame effort. Eric Estrada has to be laughing his ass off at Lopez.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sitcoms are supposed to be funny. Lopez is not, save the scenes with Lopez's neighbor, Connor. His driver is a missed story arc. Whomever reduced the introduction of George's homeboy, Campos to a few oneliners about getting robbed and parole totally missed the opportunity to play up the polarity of Lopez's life by failing to resubmerge him in his roots via his brown brother. Instead piss poor dialogue between Lopez and his opening act ate up valuable screen time with weakly delivered racial commentary. The overacting at the restaurant and auction scenes by George's sidekick gave way to the thought that Parkinson's Disease is an unbilled guest star. Shake head. Buck Eyes. Shrug shoulders. Roll Eyes. Deadpan. Pout. Rinse. Repeat.
    Roles covered as Lopez's agent, the Bragmoor headmaster, and his daughter are the better performances in the bunch. The true win win of the night is that we all love Snoop. Our puff puff passing friend is first up to bat in a series heavily salted with cameos. Star power may be the only thing that can save Lopez if campy retreads like Slave For A Day continue. Frankly, Dorothy and Rose did it better when the same premise was tackled by The Golden Girls "Love For Sale" circa 1991.    … Expand

    Generally an appealing little comedy, able to juggle things like identity and success and privilege and a general terror of aging with some nimble skill in a way that felt actually fresh.

    Many jokes are barely smile-worthy, and the show still feels broad and sitcom-y, despite its single-camera format. Sometimes, Lopez seems to be recycling lines from his stand-up act. But it's another step forward for TV Land.
