There are considerable opportunities for raised stakes, character growth, and fresh drama. All that said, there's a lot that remains the same and seems to have no visible trajectory for significant change.

While the first two episodes provided didn't quite capture me the way season 1 did, season 2 has at least laid out some interesting paths forward with the introductions of a few new characters.

Season one’s minimal plotting didn’t leave season two much to work with, but it’s still surprising that “Death And A Sunset” features no follow-up to the finale’s other big cliffhanger. .... So…hooray, welcome Sam Elliott to the Landman cast! And…oh no, his character is horrible and sexist. Why can’t it be all fun?
