She [Carmen Maura] anchors the wholesome intergenerational dynamic between her, Longoria, and Bazua. And through them, the show reexamines ordinary relationships with a loving lens, making Land Of Women quite palatable indeed.
-
Directed largely by Carlos Sedes, “Land of Women” stays remarkably focused, addressing its overlapping affairs without dissipating its energy, or, as is so often the case with streaming series, wasting time on unprofitable tangents.
-
Not every great series has to be innovative. Land of Women delivers a golden glass of entertainment, well-written and beautifully made. This is the kind of series you crave on a drizzly summer evening when the British weather has failed to deliver.
-
Much like the wine La Muga produced before Gala’s arrival, there are good elements here, someone just needs to know how to bring them together to create the perfect blend.
-
Land of Women is mostly solid and agreeable; it likely won't blow anyone away with the twists in its storyline, or with the sharpness of its writing. But the show doesn't present itself as prestige TV, or even as a slick tale of a scorned wife's revenge. It knows that viewers will be tuning in primarily for Longoria—and for the refreshing views of wine country, which make it all the more enjoyable to relax with.
-
Land Of Women is a pleasant-enough show that has a story that will go down easy, with good performances sprinkled throughout.
-
A watchable, if imbalanced limited series about a family of women escaping to Spanish wine country to flee a crime boss.
-
“Land of Women” hits the notes you can expect from an Eva Longoria joint—romance and capers. As such, it’s pretty satisfying in the way the genre can be, hitting well-worn beats with aplomb.
-
The Catalonian landscapes offer a stunning, always riveting backdrop – a boon for a series that occasionally suffers from being too predictable. However, the conclusion left me wanting more from this TV equivalent of a beach read.
-
Land of Women isn’t there yet at the end of its initial six hours; it’s a little too mellow, a little too flat, with too few surprises. But what’s there is already plenty sweet and pleasant — and best of all, it has the potential to evolve into something deeper and richer as the years go on.
-
Although Land of Women would've been better off if it were more high stakes, particularly when it comes to Gala's constant fear of having her hiding spot uncovered, it does score points for its well-developed dynamic between the series' leading trio.
-
The story line could use some tightening, but what works well, and best, about Apple TV+’s easygoing six-part series are its three generation of actors: Eva Longoria (also an executive producer), Carmen Maura and Victoria Bazua.
-
This is the televisual equivalent of comfort food. There are no true surprises but enough stuff happens to keep you solidly entertained, emotionally rewarded and clicking on to the next episode.
-
It’s blandly entertaining comfort TV, set against a gorgeously-shot backdrop.

“Land of Women” would work much better as a 90-minute film. Instead, stretching the simplistic storyline over six hours bloats the series with dull, cheesy dialogue, which does little to serve the characters or the varied plot points.
