Summary: Keita is a normal although lonely and sad high school student who never really recovered from his mother's death many years ago. One day Keita encounters a young girl named Kuro and gets involved in a fight to try and protect her. Thus begins Keita's journey into the world of the 'Coexistence Equilibrium'.

Kuro explains how there are three identical people in the world called roots who split between them a force called Terra. If two roots meet the one with the least Terra dies and their energy passes to the survivor. Eventually this creates a 'Master Root'. However, there cannot be too many Master Roots and as such people like Kuro exist to maintain the balance of the world.
