Jett understands it's exploring familiar territory, but it does so with unusual daring and intensity.
-
Gugino (who did briefly play the first Silk Spectre in Watchmen) thankfully lives up to the challenge. It’s a great performance buoying a pretty good show, and the sort of thing Gugino’s had in her for a long time, even if her jobs have only occasionally allowed her to demonstrate it to this spectacular degree.

Jett is probably a little too derivative for its own good, but through five of its first nine episodes, it marks another fun-but-not-too-deep entry in Cinemax's stable of expanded B-movie genre pieces. And it's a great showcase for Gugino.

Creator Sebastian Gutierrez fills Jett with indulgent pulp: women fighting in prison shower, split screens, freeze-frames, cheeky sexposition. it's all a bit much, and the pacing's too glacial to qualify for Cinemaximum escapism. [14/21 Jun 2019, p.101]
