Your enjoyment of this series depends as much upon how well you know and follow the Whitehalls (as it does upon your enjoyment of reality TV projects in general). If you’ve loved watching the exploits of Jack and his dad in the past, or already love binging lite reality, then you’re obviously going to want to STREAM IT. But if you haven’t experienced Jack Whitehall and his dad before now, this might not be the best first introduction to them.
-
Too much of the show is left to Jack being young, cool and naive and his dad being old, fussy and out of touch. Appearances from Jack’s mum, Hilary, and Roxy offer welcome relief, but they feature too infrequently to break up this overused formula.
-
By episode two, the initial premise seems almost entirely lost to them both.
-
The most profound it gets is during an episode all about longevity when Michael suggests that his son would be better off just spending time with his child rather than messing around with biohacking in an attempt to prolong his life. It’s hard not to draw similar conclusions from the show overall.
