Homeland morphed into an atrocious tv show where there's nothing at stake, when something interesting happens and it's immediately solved and now the show revolves in only drama and not into that frenetic pace of the start of the show were you had, drama, action and actually consequences.

The show lost it's way and you shouldn't watch it, I know the last episode made me quit.

Season 4 went for more like 24 and delivered to us the worst finale ever. Congratulations Showtime, you did it again. I loved what Homeland(S1) used to be: a psychological drama, a character study. It was slower-paced yet engaging. However, the show lost its way in this season.

Season 4 finale was the worst. This season started out slow and weird (baby bathtub scene, Carrie doing a young boy to get Intel out of him) then picked up considerably with the spy stuff in Islamabad....then the season 4 finale got delivered in a stinking paper bag to us on our door step. I am incredibly pissed at this team of writers but even more mad at the executive team that said " yes, this is great writing - lets go with it". did they even review it? Did the full time writers take a vacation and let the interns write the last episode. Wtf. Expand

In the first season I really enjoyed Carrie early on but over time she continued to be an over emotional, irrational, hypocritical wreck of a character. She is offensively written in as drama queen rather then the "queen of drones".

A number one sign of a bad leader is some one with unpredictable behaviour and emotions. There is ZERO chance she would be working there let alone in a leading role.

The show may have been asking a lot from the audience from the beginning to accept such a fantastical plot, but now the show has gone so completely off the rails it feels like an insult to the audiences intelligence.

I am happy to see appreciation on user review but instead i have different view, as can see the depiction of drama portraying Islamabad in canvas is totally different from reality. Character doesn't speak proper Urdu as if they are American but don't know how to speak English.

They are not handling properly local's characters for example avoiding prayers for sex etc etc. Their are big loopholes in this season. It seems the producers are in desperate to have any script to record and play.
Since it is a spy show tiny little information are also matters to refine the story & be closer to reality.

I used to like this series a lot. Seasons 1-3 were great. Season 4 so far is a complete turnover of the show. Everything that made the previous seasons so great was removed. While in previous seasons the focus was on who are the good guys who are the bad guys? is Broady a good or bad guy? etc.. in this season the bad guys are very clearly pinpointed. This season appears to be very reflective of the current US. foreign policy and warmongering and general racist sentiment in the US.
That one of the main lead actors was killed of in the last season does not bother me too much. What bothers me is, that anything related to the questions and stories unfolded in previous episodes is just left unanswered and put behind as resolved. The show made a change, what made it good before is gone.

It was pathetic to see season 4 depicting completely a wrong picture of Islamabad..Probably they shot season 4 in Capetown which is way different than Islamabad. We're getting the character we knew she was capable of being, with the added layer of new motherhood.... Admittedly, it's too early to declare definitively that Homeland is back, but I will say it's back to being a show I'm looking forward to watching, rather than one that made me angry as it lost its credibility mostly and lost its way completely.

Its downward slide shows signs of leveling off by the end of Sunday’s opening two hours. Danes’ Carrie is steelier than ever, her heart hardened to near-concrete while going about the exhilarating business of eliminating terrorists no matter what the collateral damage.

The show feels new again, but that doesn’t mean it feels fully refreshed, nor is it immune to painting itself into the same sort of corners it got stuck in before.
