Martial Arts
Karate (Taught by Shio Sakaki) - Is known primarily as a striking art, featuring punching, kicking, knee/elbow strikes, and open-handed techniques, but grappling, joint manipulations, locks, restraints/traps, throws, and vital point striking are taught with equal emphasis, depending on the school.
Muay Thai (Taught by Appachai) - Thai Boxing and also known as The Art of the Eight Limbs is the Thai name for a form of hard martial art practiced in several Southeast Asian countries including Thailand. The different styles of kick boxing in Southeast Asia are analogous to the different types of Kung Fu in China or Silat in the Malay peninsula.
Jujitsu (Taught by Akisame Koetsuji) - Is a Japanese martial art consisting primarily of grappling techniques. Jujutsu evolved among the samurai of feudal Japan as a method for dispatching an armed and armored opponent in situations where the use of weapons was impractical or forbidden.
Kenpou (Taught by Kensei Ma) - A generic term for a punching/striking art of Chinese origins. It is more about the strengthening of the body and the mind, the learning and the perfection of one's skills - rather than to what was being trained.
Hakkeshou (Taught by Miu Furinji) - One of the major "internal" Chinese martial arts. Literally meaning "eight trigram palm," referring to the trigrams of the I Ching (Yijing), one of the canons of Taoism. The practice of circle walking, or 'Turning the Circle', as it is sometimes called, is hakkeshou/baguazhang's characteristic method of stance and movement training.
Hakkyouken (Taught by Kensei Ma) - A Chinese martial art that features explosive, short range power and is famous for its elbow strikes. It originated in Hebei Province in Northern China, but is also well-known in other places today, especially Taiwan.
