Thought I'd visit this new series as there isn't much to watch otherwise. Episode is about a 55 year old man, and "old" father who needs a heart transplant but for some kooky reason he has to be plugged into his daughter so they can "share" a common circulation w daughter's heart doing the work. He REFUSES to put his daughter at risk. Daughter is okay w risk but the man REFUSES. ShouldThought I'd visit this new series as there isn't much to watch otherwise. If this ever becomes legal, I'm dropping all health insurance - Obamacare be damned. You wouldn't force me to have surgery that you had to eat the costs yourself. Expand

I was very open to liking this, as I enjoy Hospital TV dramas and see Melissa George as a competent actress. Her interpretation of the lead character turned me off majorly. It was overblown, affected, unlikeable. I will not be tuning in again, as apart from Dave Annable's Pierce, the other characters were not engaging either, though not sure if they were engaging it would make up for suchI was very open to liking this, as I enjoy Hospital TV dramas and see Melissa George as a competent actress. Could not wait to watch a new medical drama! But this was WAY disappointing! The main character was annoying, rude and unlikeable. Trailors / previews for future episodes seem even less medical. The storyline seemed less medical and way boring. I had my DVR set to record all, but will be deleting those.

I was eager for a new show. Hearbeat looked promising. But no. No thanks. I couldn't finish the first episode. It was not at all what I was hoping for. It's just not funny and rrelies too much on the lead female character who can't seem to decide whether she wants to be funny or she wants to be taken seriously.

This show is completely ridiculous.Melissa George as the lead character is making things bad for the show, she's doing things that doesn't really happen in a hospital... Always rushing to do surgery. Grey's anatomy is far better

All of Alex’s quirks (she has a tendency to spit while talking) and surgical brilliance (practically on a whim, she pulls off a heart transplant procedure that only four others have managed before her) can’t mask the grim fact that she’s ultimately a collection of threadbare drama-series clichés. ... Even worse, the show’s supporting characters are all some combination of bland, unbelievable, and/or reprehensible.

Unfortunately, by the end of the first hour, viewers may find themselves looking for a pulse rather than committing to future installments, let alone pondering the state of female medical practitioners in the industry and their work-home life balance.

It is so overstuffed with action and complications and heavy breathing that it never comes close to being credible.
