With old and new characters working perfectly and the switch to Metropolis offering surprising possibilities for the show's lead duo, season 5 brings the series back to top form, and I hope we'll continue to get many more seasons to come.

Season 5 of Harley Quinn keeps the hilarity coming at a rapid-fire clip, concocts a whole host of new misadventures for its main duo – this time with Metropolis under threat – and expands on and strengthens Harley and Ivy’s love story in ways well worth shipping.

While Harley Quinn may be swinging its bat of storytelling far too quickly, season five is still a genuinely good continuation to one of the best queer-oriented animated series airing right now.

Though it’s occasionally amusing, it doesn’t amount to much more than drawing attention to how Harley Quinn suddenly feels like a show in stasis, unwilling to change the status quo even when all-new backdrops have been painted for it.

Harley Quinn Season 5 is packed to the brim with the show's inevitable level of chaos, some of which makes its overall focus somewhat scattered. .... While Season 5 does wrap up to such a degree that it could be a natural series ending, it's also hard not to want more.

With a poignant villain, ludicrous musical theater and an excellent performance from Archer star Aisha Tyler, Harley Quinn reinforces its place as one of the best animated shows on the air.
