    This is an incredibly pathetic attempt to paint those in the armed forces as either incompetent, antisocial or inconceivably dumb. The point is clear: the writer doesn't like the war in Iraq. Ok, we get it. Thank God it's only seven episodes.

    Nothing but retread of war movie cliches. Oh, most fit soldier is gay - wow how daring. nothing new, boring.

    Mildly entertaining at times, but clearly created, written, and directed by people who have no idea how the military operates. The characters are the standard military cliche you would expect in a subpar series like this.

    I can't believe these idiot reviewers. GK was the most vacuous TV I've ever seen. A total crock. Cliched characters and cliched lines. So boooooooooooring.

    Deeply disappointing series, this. I only watched it in full because it was by the creators of the Wire, but whereas the Wire was the most brilliant series to be broadcast on television in a long time, this was a nothing but a sprawling, messy, cartoonish letdown.

    Bland, boring and unexciting. Those word are seldom used to describe a series about a war but are exactly the words I would use to describe this show. Overall nothing really exciting happened and there were no interesting characters for me to get attached to. The show never went anywhere and it didn’t really have a story worth telling. it might be realistic, but it's boring nevertheless.Bland, boring and unexciting.     Meanwhile, some remarkable television has been made. To report on a new generation of young warriors raised on hip-hop, heavy metal, and video games, Wright went to Iraq as Michael Herr before him had gone to Vietnam, like Dante to hell with a cassette recording of Jimi Hendrix.

    You get the sense that the filmmakers' vision and Wright's are never quite in sync--or perhaps are in sync too perfectly.
