We’re hyped to see how our heroes will confront the latest Vought threat. Confidence in themselves and their powers is growing.
-
As this second series unfurls its cape, it’s a joy and a relief to discover that it is business as usual.
-
While this cast has always had chemistry, each of the young actors here has improved with Season 2, making for an ensemble that runs like a well-oiled yet tender machine.
-
A more compassionate, hopeful entry than we’ve come to expect from The Boys franchise. Don’t expect it to continue, of course but for now, the second season of Gen V is a refreshing change of pace for this universe that stays relatively strong from start to finish.
-
Gen V continues to prove that the tone and storytelling style of The Boys universe works even better in the contained environment of the university, even if the characters can't stay in college forever.
-
While Season 2's overly gross moments are starting to feel more and more juvenile, the things that Gen V is trying to say about our current world are anything but. .... Gen V Season 2 is an admirable new chapter as The Boys races towards its final bow.
-
Gen V has levelled-up for season two thanks to its ability to balance the franchise’s signature cartoonish graphic grossness with three-dimensional character work. Forget Compound V – inject another five seasons of this straight into our veins.
-
Season 2 weaves a cohesive narrative built around the idea of overcoming trauma and becoming something greater. It does so even as it introduces one of The Boys universe’s best and most compelling villains in Hamish Linklater’s Dean Cipher.
-
“Gen V” may not reach its highest potential — and it may not get the chance to, given where the narrative wraps up — but it’s impressive, entertaining, and ambitious in its own right.
-
We’re back seeing the origins of Compound V and before you’re able to remember just how violent Gen V can truly get, you’re seeing guts, gore, and plenty of bloodied black humor to firmly remind you that this is a darkly funny show.
-
The show isn't nearly as graphic as last season, but it still has plenty of graphic and violent content to both gross you out and make you giggle. But most of all, it has a gripping story that will make you think while it entertains you.
-
A season that retains much of what made Season 1 such a thrilling debut, but also shows some entirely understandable awkwardness in making an unanticipated pivot.
-
"Gen V" does just enough to provide thrills and twists galore to keep its core audience happy, including one heck of a killer finale that helps redeem much of the lower points of the season — even if it ultimately feels like yet another bridge to the next season of "The Boys," when all's said and done.
