Sure, the script clunks portentously in places but nobody comes to Gangs of London for subtlety. Dialogue is often merely a place-holder, moving the plot along until the next operatic set piece arrives. ... Gangs of London is back with a bang. Not to mention a crunch and a squelch.

For all of season 1's brilliance, the ante needed to be upped to maintain crucial momentum, which is what we get in the season 2 opener. While it remains to be seen if this chapter will match its debut, the early signs are extremely promising.

The series’ pleasures are unchanged by the years: impeccably choreographed fight scenes, quick-twitch pacing, and clever, immersive direction that takes suspense as its watchword.

“Gangs of London” struggles to reconcile Sean’s contradictions, even though their presence doesn’t dampen Hardy’s various achievements.

It's all personal taste, of course, but this level of gratuitous sadism and horror isn't really my bag, even though it is silly video game level violence. ... The acting is still very, very good, if you don't mind the wall-to-wall evil.

This is a shoot-em-up extravaganza, pure and simple. It’s ludicrous but lavishly well done, if you like this sort of thing. But while stylish and self-assured, Gangs of London also feels simple-minded and clichéd.

Though it doesn’t reach the hard-hitting action high-points of the first season, Gangs Of London 2 maintains the show’s brutal blood-letting intensity, even as its twisty plot line takes increasingly unlikely turns.

The violence is on steroids; it’s as if the director and the writer hatched a plot after watching Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders and Ronan Bennett’s Top Boy. ... There are passages of inaction while, you’d think, minions hose down the scenery. But they all involve shifty blokes trading gangland bants so improbable that even Guy Ritchie would doubt them.

Starts with a bang and doesn't let go. If you liked the first series youll love this one. Why cant there be more British TV shows like this.
